      Yeah.
There are a lot of times where I enjoyed the fanservice while also infuriated at Mike for punching an innocent father senselessly while not mustering that same bravado against Afton in the end.
That and how many punishment Vanessa would have gotten had the police figured out about Vanessa holding reports.
Also that scene where the animatronic haunting went full Mortal Kombat Fatality.

They’re 100% going to do a sequel seeing as how the movie ended. In the original lore William Afton kept coming back as the big bad final boss of the games and is the overarching antagonist of the franchise. Heck the dude was sent to hell (literally) and still came back in the form of Glitchtrap and Burntrap.
Plus i really do agree on most of the points you guys pointed out. This movie uses the same tropes and themes every other horror movie you have seen have used. The only thing worth anticipated for in this movie is how well they were gonna incorporate the lore with the side plot of Mike trying to protect his sister abby from the animatronics.
They really could have done better. But it’s still a big massive fanservice to longtime FNAF fans and i appreciate their effort

Alex is extremely good at explaining why he likes or dislikes a film, I myself thought this was a straight average film, but Alex may have changed my mind on this. The thing that saves this film that the Halo TV show didn't know is absolutely the dedicated core fanbase. Nobody in the world has ever said that the scenes with Chief and Kwan-Ha were so emotional, the girl who wanted to do drugs in the forest is super relatable. They were making a movie and adding Halo elements and the fans spoke. FNAF, while this side quest with Mike may be new, the core audience love the animatronics, lore, Easter eggs and cameos despite it being mediocre. It was a film for the fans even though it was not good, but the fans still appreciate that I think.

And in this film they chose to keep the animatronics on stage for 90% of them film, pretty much taking away any kind of threat. Fans know what might happen if you're caught but the normie viewer won't know what the hell the threat is.

I'm a huge fan of the games. Grew up with them and was eagerly awaiting the movie. The trailers made it look 'alright', but after seeing the critic scores I went into it expecting something absolutely terrible. Walking out of it, I actually really enjoyed the movie. I'm not sure if it's because my expectations were so low, but as a fan, I had a great time. I'd give it a 7/10, although if you're not familiar with the games or deep into the lore/fandom, I could easily see this being a confusing and boring watch.
The TLDR is FNAF is basically Fan Service: The Movie. It was extremely faithful to the lore, had all the CZcamsr cameos I grew up with, and ultimately it was awesome seeing all these characters on the big screen. The pop at the end of the film when a FNAF fan song was used over the end credits was huge too.
With that being said, I do hope the inevitable sequel(s) are a tad darker, scarier, and have a bit tighter of a narrative.

Fnaf if you really look at the lore isn't actually that scary but it's got great characters and great world-building and I saw all of that here. Unfortunately unlike Super Mario I just feel like they didn't explain enough stuff and didn't flesh things out enough. By the way Scott Cawthon, the one who wrote it is the creator of the game so he did take the source material seriously and that kind of hurt me when you said they didn't, but it's all opinions and I will say Five Nights is not for everyone especially where the lore goes after the first few games.

Anything after like 3 onwards i stopped caring. But like the original 2 games.. the dude goes to work for five nights (hence the name lol) that would make even less sense if they went crazier with the movie and he kept coming back. Like after literally seeing the animatronics actively trying to kill u every night... then u just show up the next day for ur shift? Lol. They were already complaining about this movie him going back after just seeing the animatronics walk around and talk to his sister. They would have a meltdown if it was 100% faithful

I enjoyed Mario much more. Fnaf story was just doing too much for something so simple. All the sleeping and dreaming and the "evil aunt" custody battle was not needed whatsoever. Really should have just been him stuck in there trying to escape...or if he just had to go home have him be a mini detective and doing research on the establishment and getting familiar with the history...asking himself questions and finding out what is truly going on with this place and these animatronics and needing to go back inside each night to find more clues inside the establishment to his puzzle. I wanted to know about Freddy's pizzeria...did not care about his childhood trauma and needing to sleep to find clues all while having a family dispute for custody and having to go to work at night where it just so happens that the animatronics come alive and attacked him once. I feel like the movie was an all around faithful in creation to the game/games. However you have to be an already established member to know or even enjoy it. I personally don't consider the movie horror, maybe a thriller at times? But overall I think this film is a key target to those that know the games, know the lore and have been wanting a movie. Personally I wasn't looking for a movie, although to see a faithful(ish) rendition from Blumhouse was a welcomed sight. All in all I believe these movies are a pure target to the already established fanbase and may attract a few outsiders but nothing extreme, I also believe that these movies are meant to act as 'bones' for the overly confusing and extremely compounding lore of the games, books etc and all that or maybe even another timeline (because timelines make jank lore easy to fix). Overall went with a friend, we both gave it a 7. Nothing groundbreaking but a welcome addition that i am still dumbfounded exists.

There is virtually zero tension in any parts of the film. Halfway through the main cast are all best friends with the animatronics, building forts and having a jolly time. Most of us went into this movie wondering what theories we could get from it or if it would answer any questions. Would it follow the game or be its own story?? For Mike to be stuck in the pizzeria wouldnt make any sense because we know he goes home after his shift is over. Hes never been stuck there. Not big on FNAF, haven't really seen the movie, but all of Joe's and crew complaints seems to be that he doesn't like the parts that are true to FNAF, and just wants kills and gore of a franchise that has never been about gore, no game has blood, all violence has always been implied.
Seems to me Joe should at least do a bit of research about stuff, like, I just know about the franchise from some youtube videos and MattPatt (back when I used to watch it), FNAF never been particularly good in it's story, add the books (which are supposed to be canon) there's time travel, IA, ghost, fusioned ghost, IA replicas of a dead guy who thinks it's a ghost, actual IA body snatcher, mechanic IA esqueleton using a corpse to move around, zombie who is smart and trying to stop the bad things from happening, etc.
Not to mention sll the time the animatronic where "just IA killing randoms" then "posessed animateonics seeking vengeance agaist only the bad guy" then just "killing every adult they come across night shift because all adults seems to be the bad guy to them".
I believe that's the main problem with the franchise, just seems to be a jumbled mess if ideas, barely related, who's only purpose is to make Mattpat wrong each time he seems to have a coherent plot theory (you can't convince me that ScottCawton doesn't just throws to the trash plot details just to mess with Mattpat because he called shot right)
All in all, the movie sounds like a faitfull FNAF story

Also I don't consider this movie to even have jump scares, all but maybe 1 seemed comical and most people in the theatre laughed too, it felt like this ended up being the intention imo.
This being rated PG-13 meant a lot of younger kids saw the movie too and anyone probably younger than 21 is going to have a much different experience than people 30+ including myself. I can understand and respect why a lot of people didn't like it though.

I like how Joe thinks this movie is supposed to be modern day, even though if you look closely at the start of the movie when Mike is in the waiting room the security tape clearly says "2000". And on top of that there are other clues that show it's not modern such as Mike having a freaking TV with a VCR (popular in the early 2000's) and there's a chia pet commercial.

Ngl blumhouse isn’t exactly the best studio for horror movies. If the movie was more story driven it would have been better but it was clearly marketed for children. I’d say the gradual change in the fan base over the course of the franchise’s history is what ruined the movie. If the movie was as gritty as the first game it would have been a masterpiece considering it stayed true to its founding.

I didn't agree with the Mario review but FNAF didn't even look good outside of set design. Especially under the Blumhouse label. Blum is known for low budgets and jump scares and some of the films are okay. This was one of the multiple bad Blumhouse films. It had too much cutting from kills and no story. If Mike can leave how is it the same concept of the game? It's just fan service but inside a bad movie. As a horror fan: 4/10
^since only when it’s the 4 intruders getting killed, it felt a bit scary and horror like but the rest of the movie isn’t like that unfortunately.

^Scout told the story the way he wanted to tell it and his creation is on full display, setting and story-wise (despite the flaws in it) and having Living Tombstone in the credits was the cherry on top.

^The story is pretty is mediocre along with its poor setup of the killer with hardly any build up and the acting is okay at best. Only stand out was Josh Hutcherson as Mike, who plays the stubborn and paranoid character pretty well, and Matthew Lillard as William who fits the killer role perfectly but unfortunately isn’t given enough screen time to make the movie more compelling and entertaining.

Yeah as a fan of the games I enjoyed the references and even how the animatronics kill are accurate to the games (bonnie kills in the storage room, chica likes the kitchen with no cam and kills in the kitchen in the movie, foxy runs at his target, freddy kills in the dark). However the movie is a huge missed oppertunity. Imagine in the opener with the old night guard barricading the room, instead there was a classic night. Starts off with the night guard chilling and looking through the cameras, bonnie dissapears and he gets a little confused and flips through a few cameras to see if they are still working and sees bonnie in a different room. Then hears chica in the kitchen and that camera goes dark. He flips back to foxy and sees foxy peaking out at him through the curtain and flips to the mainstage and freddy is starting at him. He then closes the door and barricades it and you hear the classic freddy laugh echo out. Then he tries to escape and dies to foxy. That would have been an insane opening that would setup the movie so well. They focused on mike and his daughter too much and would have prefered a more survival-tense dark movie than what we got. The end with afton dragged into the room and locked in it by the animatronics is lore accurate so I can't complain about the ending. Maybe after being locked in there and surviving 5 nights he uncovers the secrets along the way he proves to the animatonics who killed them and they turn on afton and mike escapes.

My 10 year old and 8 year old absolutely loved the movie. As a 40 year old dad who knew nothing about the franchise, I enjoyed it. It wasn't going to be some stellar blockbuster for the discerning movie-goer, but it was definitely better than the Doom movie with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

I loved Mario Brothers, apparently fans of the FNAF games liked this movie. Alex getting angry about these films and saying not to support them as you will just get more is silly as people do want more. The fans did like these films and want more like them.

I don’t know why some people seem almost angry that a movie made for the fans is being enjoyed by the fans. I guess it’s because it didn’t cater to them specifically. It’s fine if some people didn’t like the movie, but that doesn’t mean they have to rub it in the faces of those who did.

Well touch luck, my friend, because guess what? I am not a fan of Fnaf. I haven't been a fan since the 4th game, where i got very bored of it, and i thought they were starting to milk it. Nowadays i am neutral towards the franchise. In fact, my brother and i went to the movies to laugh laugh at the movie for how cringe we thought it would be. @@abysmalreign2207
Nevertheless, the movie surprised me positively in a big way. It is a clear passion project, and a really faithful adaptation of the first games, which i have played. I appreciate it.

I haven’t felt this pissed after watching a film since the last Jedi, it was absolutely painful to watch, it isn’t even a fun movie I felt bored all the time. I cannot understand how the fans really loved the movie, the lore stuff from the games where really just cheap Easter eggs for the fans to say “oh look they said the thing” or “look the thing from the game shows up”but made absolutely no sense for the movie’s context.

This felt like a Disney channel “horror” movie. They really dumbed down the source material for children. Willy’s Wonderland was more of a FNAF movie than the actual movie

@@sammywilliam8156But the amount of people expecting it to be a certain thing doesn't mean the movie is wrong, it just means that many people went in with misguided expectations. To be honest, I too expected it, and was a bit disappointed that the robots killing the thugs were off screen, but at the same time I liked the story so the gore being missing was water under the bridge.
Gore alone, just for the sake of it, doesn't alone a good horror movie make. An unsettling story about ghost children wanting to add a little girl to their ranks, does.

They should have made the first movie about the initial pizza pled opening up with all the original stuff, then gone through all the events with other follow up movies. The “horror” element seemed missing indeed. The visuals were impressive enough to get it an 80 with audiences.
