- What the actual heck. Truly one of the RNG moments of all time, after 34 tedious battles, I get frozen, then the bright powder procs for the miss, and then a crit as insult to injury. I doubt Gyarados could have survived anyway, but sure, screw me I guess. Thank you pokemon.
- Zábava
This is like that Mario Kart Wii video where Daisy is hit with a Blue Shell, then a Red one, then a lightbolt, then gets pushed out of the track, then a Bullet Bill pushes her again and loses the race.
I really was just Daisied huh?
@@fireswarmdragon yeah, it happened to me once. I was fighting a Suicune which froze my Blastoise for about 12 turns. That was just crazy.
Freeze really is the worst status
@@fireswarmdragon yeah, it should be nerfed to last until 1 or 2 hits, or each turn the defrost chance to raise 10% or something

When Alakazam puts down the spoons and starts throwing hands
Please, Alakazam no, eat your cereal instead, please
Bruh Alakazam just have everything lmao
And the ending just sums it up: “It’s very disappointing”.
Perhaps soul crushing is more accurate, but at least she's a little sorry
"The Battle frontier is fun"
It is, when this isn't what you're putting up with, sometimes the dice roll that way
Anabel was in a bad mood that day.
She's actually one of two of my all time favorite Pokemon characters especially after she returned as a secret agent so as much as this hurts to watch I cannot help but cheer for her for being a little shit at the same time.
Can you tell her to chill please? I can't take any more of this
@@fireswarmdragon Just push her into a portal to another dimension, take the Gold Symbol, and run
Instructions unclear, summoned giratina, world in danger
That Alakazam had:
- Ice punch
- Fire punch
- Thunderpunch
- Unknown move (it only used the three above)
Clearly that Alakazam just wanted to throw hands really bad, either Alakazam or the trainer
The final move is disable, so not just that they wanna throw hands, they wanna make sure I can't fight back
@@fireswarmdragon lol makes sense
How would you know if it never used it tho?
@@alexh.g2003 Well firstly, I've taken this fight on a few times, and have seen the disable, but also Anabel is a boss trainer, you can look up her team online, since it never changes
@@fireswarmdragon Ah, I see
@@fireswarmdragon I guess this is what happens when you fight a Pokémon that’s has around 500 IQ, or some thing
Showdown players: Aww man my stone edge missed for the third time a row, guess lando just dies then
This guy:
that 'it's very disappointing...' hits hard here.
It sure does
At least the leaf blade that missed had overgrow added
Oh great...
I havent seen hax this bad outside a Werster video lmfao
I've never been screwed this bad before, nah that's a lie, this feels like an average Tuesday for the battle towers I've played
One thing that you’re also not wrong moud Wersters luck is awful Also not just in games even IRL I don’t know if you guys forgot his girlfriend cheated on him with his brother of all people and Mark werster and his brother Mike stopped talking and seeing each other after that happened this happened back in 2013 I think around then I honestly feel bad for Mark werster nobody deserves to get cheated on or even hated by someone you love or any awful thing that happens to them
Sorry that I went a little overboard second half way in, but that stuff actually happened to Werster
@@WarVeteran213 Yikes... that's rough for the guy. Not only pokemon games take a dookie on him and stealing his WRs, and now I learn about this... Geez.
Anabel was just like "Why wait to make you miserable?"
Alakazam straight up said 'nuh uh' to every pokemon that he encounter 😭
“It’s very disappointing…” was translated badly. While the Japanese ざんねん… means disappointing, it usually has a tone that the speaker is sorry for you. Anabel is meant to be a humble but strong character and usually encourages the player to be stronger. “It’s a pity…” is a better translation.
Well that's a neat fun fact, I don't know about strong and humble, the pre fight dialogue also seemed to indicate a bit of a distant tone, like she's hoping to see a decent challenge but isn't expecting too much, that could also be a localization thing though
It's very disappointing
Yup, really demotivating after 34 fights
Unfortunate doesn’t begin to describe
That Brightpowder miss lmfao
Gen 3 and Gen 4 make you feel extra special the way the games shit on you
theres a reason i never finished all emblems in emerald ;-;
My will to go for it is slowly eroding, but I'm going for it. Wish me luck!
I’ve Only Ever Gotten Five…
Good Luck!
And some SPEEDRUN for them within 24 hours. Its insane bro...
“Its very disappointing” 😐
That's why you give latios a lum berry to hold
I have since started using a Lum berry
"It's very disappointing"
MF, YOU RIGGED THE GAME!
Stuff like this is why I never liked the battle facilities in older gens
They could’ve been good in the modern games, but they’re gone now so we’ll never know
I mean, they are built the same way. The only real difference is that the newer games give you more resources to EV train to combat them, plus battle items. I prepared with a Anabel-counter team and it still gave me problems.
Its already bad that it has all of the elemental moves (one for each of your pokemon, two in Sceptile's case), but its even worse when you realize that the Physical/Special move split didnt occur until gen 4, so every Fire, Electric, Water, Dark, Psychic, Grass, Ice, and Dragon move in the game is considered Special. Pair that with Alakazam's high Special Attack, and none of your Pokémon are having a good time
Yup
im so sorry for your loss op
If it helps, I just did another run, and almost won. Probably would've won if I had taken the hint that alakazam was spamming disable
I thought it was going to be quick claw activating and then getting horn drilled
Could have been, with my luck, that will happen eventually
This video hurt me on every possible level: physical, emotional and spiritual 😢😂
As soon as I remembered which facility she leads and saw „ice punch“ I knew it was going down. Honestly expected the fire punch to burn bushel and kill it in 1 turn. The leaf blade miss was just adding insult to injury.
Certified bruh moment
Mhm pain.
Ah yes. Just a normal day at the Battle Frontier.
An average Tuesday, yup
That Alakazam woke up and chose violence that day
And the flavour of violence was ice cream
Things like this would happen almost every time. Just knock out my Pokémon, don’t get my hopes up thinking my Pokémon will break out of confusion/paralysis/sleep/freeze -_-
Oh man I know that pain. Cool team by the way.
Average SMT Nocturne battle
True and accurate
Ive been infinited out in the battle factory many a time, the ludicolo with double team and leftovers is a bastard. As well as the i miss an 100 accurate into me getting crit into a quick claw OHKO into his next mon being the perfect counter to my last mon
That sounds about right
That is why I run Lum berry on my lead Latios, so much bullshit happens during battle frontier
I've since started doing exactly that
what did you DO to anabel to deserve this
I wonder if she's still mad about the cookie incident
LMFAOOOOO MEANWHILE I JUST CLEARED HER SECOND BATTLE WITH EASE
This genuinely may be the unluckiest ive seen her battle go
Congrats
You popped up to my recommendation
Welcome, yeah this video really took off somehow, hope you enjoyed my misery
Don't worry, Anabel's getting karma for this in a few years. Too bad she won't remember what exactly she did though...
That's mean
I have a worse replay on my pc and i would have linked it but i know youtube won't let me post a link
How bad was it?

lost to anabel round 2 yesterday, being one win from gold hurt so badly. serebiis page has her second team wrong (snorlax's moves are swapped with latias's) just in case this helps anyone else!
Gosh, I've gotta get to that fight, I'm actually a little less scared of the gold fight, though snorlax is always terrifying
Werster watching this: That's cute.
Never heard this ost
I hadn't either, it's the emerald frontier brain theme
I mean, if your team loses to elemental punches you might need a different team.
I beat her with this team just a few days ago, if I don't get frozen, and miss, this fight is easy
Game: *haxes the player big time*
Also game: **"Do it again"**
Game yet again: **"DO IT AGAIN!"**
Yup
Ahh gen3 alakazam; that elemental special punch lad was so broken
is this an "unfortunate doesnt begin to describe" "ez", or "womp womp" moment
It's a "snap the metaphorical ds in half" moment, real one survived, for now
i feel bad for both the loss and that the kadabra could have instantly killed everyone anyways with ice punch
Hey, it's not true, Latios takes it pretty well, usually
Idk the sceptiles moves, but i feel like crunch is a pretty good option that would have gotten you out of this. It covers a lot thats good in gen 3 as well
Typical gen 3 set would have been crunch, leaf blade, dragon claw, thunderpunch/leech seed I think
@@frankchen4229 thunderpunch is pretty common, a leech seed set would have substitute too so youd probably stick with just leaf blade (and potentially pursuit as the second attack)
See, I wanted to get thunderpunch, but to get thunderpunch you need bp, as for crunch it's an egg move, this is my starter Sceptile, and I want to get a lot of ribbons on the guy
@@fireswarmdragon I never played vanilla emerald.
Is it feasible to at least breed a 31 speed IV?
Breeding one stat to full IV? I think it's doable, the judge will tell you the highest stat, but you're essentially just rolling dice, since parents are only guaranteed to pass 1 stat down. I just did some digging on bulbapedia though, I haven't actually tried IV breeding in emerald myself because it seems super tedious.
At that point you and Anabel have to get in the right and duke it out personally cus damn
Can you organize the match?
this is why i use lum berry latios what did it have as a item
I was using a magnet on this run, I have since swapped to a Lum berry as well, it wasn't needed in my winning run, but it has been very helpful with other trainers in the tower
It's even worse when you consider the elemental punches were classified as special moves which compliments Alakazam's 135 SP.A stats lmao
I am in fact aware of this cruel fact
That would have made me upset for the rest of the day, not gonna lie
I'm still not over it
@@fireswarmdragon I can’t blame you at all
remember what prof oak said about type match-ups: water against fire, fire against grass, and so on.
Yeah? Wanna tell me how I'm supposed to perfect counter this thing? It has all the type coverage it would ever need.
@@fireswarmdragon If you are only talking about the Alakazam then it knows the three elementary punches along with Disable (for some reason). So let's say you are like most people and only get access to Pokémon you can catch in Hoenn (so no Umbreon or Tyranitar). You can either with something neutral to all punches (Aggron, Gardevoir, etc) or if you desperately need to counter this Alakazam get yourself a Houndoom (Houndour is in the Safari Zone) and slap a Lum Berry on it to minimize RNG. Crunch can seal the deal. However, playing around Brightpowder is a bit trickier. Honestly I'd go Hariyama (this thing doesn't have Psychic so you're fine) and with Thick Fat or Guts, there are two ways you can go about this fight. But a Choice Band with Vital Throw (which can't miss) will send this thing back to Red and Blue. Then Hariyama destroys her Snorlax. Anything else I can help you with ?
I appreciate the attempt to help me, but I've just chosen Latios since I know it's typical in speedruns of the frontier, Gyarados and Sceptile are two of my teammates, so I wanted to use them especially since I wanna get the ribbon on Sceptile. The battle frontier is a lot more than just a fight against Anabel, and this trio does a pretty decent job dealing with most threats
@@fireswarmdragonthat alakazam does not have choice scarf or shadow ball give latios choice scarf soul dew and a strong move and it should ko
@@fireswarmdragon| Uhh ... does Lanturn have the stats to be viable? It resists fire and ice, and you can get Volt Absorb.
What item did Latios have? It should ideally be running Lum Berry to counter status.
I went with a magnet to buff thunderbolt a little, I'll consider a Lum though
@@fireswarmdragon Yeah, Lum Berry is very useful. You don’t really need to raise its damage output, even if it doesn’t have perfect Special Attack IVs.
Crit didn’t matter, that Gyarados was 100% going down to a thunder punch
Oh I know, insult to injury though
Why did leaf blade miss? Checked even in gen 3 and it has a 100% accuracy right? Is the Alakazam holding a Bright Powder or smt?
It was in fact holding a bright powder
And people miss this
I don't think anyone misses bad rng, but these battles are generally really fun. Especially when you just get outplayed by something mundane like a Porygon 2 or Grumpig. I am genuinely terrified of Porygon 2 now.
@@fireswarmdragon The AI very blatantly cheats and relies on rng hax, even this alakazam had bright powder. That's not fun.
Also P2 is just a good pokemon
I've not caught the AI cheating yet, in fact I just took on Anabel again and she pulled out disable on the first turn, before I even got to go. I'm pretty sure the gen 3 ai plays fair. As for Porygon 2 being a good pokemon, that's not something I appreciated until it wiped my team, and almost pulled it off twice.
@@fairytypehumanThe AI doesn’t cheat. That’s absurd.
@@animeguy10000000| Try Perish Trapping something without a second trapper. They pick their moves in a way that lets them escape trapping of the trapper escapes the same turn. And keep on mind Shed Shell was the generation _after_ Emerald!
135 SP.Attack
Hey, at least u were able to get a single attack off lol
I sure did...
Hey you got to use Leaf Blade
Did you know that in Battle Frontier, in every single battle you face, you're at double disadvantage?!
Basically, not only the CPU's know when secondary effect will trigger on the moves, quick claw effect will trigger etc, but also after getting minor win streak, your team will be countered to absolute oblivion and it doesnt matter what you pick?!
Yeah. Now that's fun, aint it?!
Artifical Difficulty dialed up to 11.
Huh, that's neat, I wonder if that's why I feel like I consistently get porygon 2 and snorlax as opponents later on
@@fireswarmdragon Yeah that's why.
I remember speedrunner Werster had a run where to counter his Latios, the game made up a MAX SP.DEF HERACROSS with Megahorn JUST to counter his Latios.
And there is nothing you can do about it lol
wdym "not let you play", you got it to half health /s
Maybe next time, I'll be allowed to use 2 moves
Blissey would've saved your run fam
I've experienced the worst a random a$$ trainer with its shedninja pulled up from nowhere and the game didn't even letting me strike cuz of his shedninja's wonder armour thing
Yup, I planned ahead for that with Sceptile, it's why he's got pursuit, I've been burned by Shedninja before at Mt Battle in XD. Hot tip, you can also kill it with status moves, if you have poison or something.
Bruh I hate how their attacks do so much damage while yours barely do shit. They made the battle frontier TOO hard

Damn close to doing so after this one, but I'm way too stubborn for my own good
Should have trained up a dusclops for that very annoying fast special attacker, dusclops is very fast to train and very defensive, but everything in this battle is the definition of bad luck rng. 😔
I went with Latios to get some firepower, but Sceptile and Gyarados were both teammates

It's very disappointing...
Brutal, but still nothing compared to Pokémon Stadium 2 bs hax lol
Emerald battle facility cheats 100%..
I reached the gold symbol challenge in the battle facility, and casually the boss had a pkmn with Sheer Cold (who obviously had like 90% accuracy)
That's not cheating, it's just insanely bad luck. Believe you me, my luck is always whatever is the least likely, good or bad
Sheer Cold has a 30% accuracy when fighting Pokemon of the same level, which means that at least 30% of the time it will hit. This also means that it can hit multiple times in a row. Since it’s a 30% chance each time.
Skill issue
That's why i don't like the battle frontier like it's so unfair i don't get why people loved this one of the reasons i personally don't play emerald
