7 Good Fragrances I Don't Like To Wear (w/mainstream alternatives)

  • I personally say this too much, but I don't believe it can be heard enough: you should love the fragrances you choose to wear. If you're basing your opinion of your fragrances on whether or not others like them... đŸ€·đŸŸâ€â™‚ïž
I understand why these 7 popular fragrances are so "loved". But most of them are loved for the results that they get for certain people, which makes me wonder how they might feel about the fragrances if they received no compliments...đŸ€”
This video is meant to model that it doesn't take much effort to stray from what's popular and find more interesting fragrances you would love to wear, even in a vacuum. In order to provide balance, I'm sharing a mainstream alternative for each fragrance.

Wearing a scent that gives you confidence gets the most compliments. For me it's something like Overture Man or Tobacco Oud, but for others it's Bleu de Chanel or Aventus. Wear what you love!

Totally agree. I have been gifted several bottles of popular, supposed compliment getters that I feel are nice smelling but just don’t do much for me, so they sit on a shelf or in a drawer in my closet. I happen to agree with 99bottles, “Wear what truly moves you.”

I only wear what I like, and I wear stuff like Sauvage and a lot of other main stream fragrances. But I also absolutely love things like L'Instant De Guerlain EDP. I don't worry about compliments. Hell, the only fragrances that have really gotten me compliments from strangers are Halloween Man and Azzaro Sport.
Why does it have to be you're either basic and only care about compliments, or you're artistic and unique?

Fyi 75-80% of American men do not wear a fragrance on a regular basis. And approximately 34-35% never wear a fragrance.
So wearing ANY fragrance makes you stand out - i say wear what you like and are comfortable with.

and that’s fine. It’s true. I just choose not to use it as an excuse.

I adore Acqua di Parma MANDORLO DI SICILIA. I was wearing it when I had to go to the Emergency Room (long story- the reason I haven’t been around in months -ended up with 2 spinal surgeries and a cerebrospinal fluid leak). I was sitting in one spot, got called for my checkin and when I came back my seat was taken so I sat a bit away m. Heard the woman that took my seat exclaim loudly to her husband that someone with a disgusting perfume was around. Of course she also yelled at her husband and called him some nasty name in front of everyone. I figured my perfume was actually awesome if someone like her didn’t like it.

I was disappointed simply because close to every reviewer praised this fragrance to no end 😂

Luv this video JC!!!! You were very transparent and clearly speaking the truth. I have finally come to the conclusion that wearing a frag that our soul and smelly nose LOL likes is what moves us and makes us feel incredible and almost gives us a sense of heading to different dimension due that special frag that we inhale. Also, thx for being honest about that crappy office for men frag and it's a disgrace how that fake ytuber person(I will not mention his name he doesn't deserve it) smiles and is joyful because he knows he robbed a lot of good folks down the road.

Excellent video Justin! I’ve learned over time that I wear what I enjoy and if others compliment me then even better, and that brings many of my scents to mind. However there was a time when my wife smelled Guerlain LIDGE on me and did not like it. I chose then to only wear it on work days in the fall and winter. Oddly enough now she likes it.
Oh and I literally loled at the little Becky line.

Hi Justin. Good content. I agree with Coach: I smelled all of them Platinum included and none moved me. L'homme Ultime and L'homme Electrique (though different) are my two favorites in the line. Wanted by night is nice, L'homme ideal intense is top notch. I never cared for any JGP they always had that 70's deo cheap spray to me, I've never seen ant Scotch Porter scents here in Dubai. Allure sport extreme is nice but I agree it is one directional, I don't know Green Lover, but I'd pick something like Boucheron EDT or EDP any time over it (costs 1/3 too). I'm not familiar with Office or Into Me, but water melon in perfumes is not for me, but Beyond Paradise comes to mind when I hear you describing it, good stuff. Acqua Di Geo Perfumo is beautiful, I got it recently after smelling the whole line, I do love it, a bit monotonous? sure, but still it wears very nicely. Botega extreme and Botega original are a notch up in my opinion. You can still get the original but not the extreme here in Dubai. The original Aventus was amazing, but seems to me CREED has a knack to water down fragrances I think they have done it more than once. Not really my favorite brand. Having said that I liked Viking Cologne, but honestly if I had to choose from this brand I'd go for Bois Du Portugal provided that they are still releasing the original formula not a watered down version of it.

I've worn Dior Sauvage. I bought a sample to try it out because of all the hype. I like it, but I don't love it. But I do wear it for compliments because I'm an average guy and nothing about me garners a lot of compliments. So it's nice to hear those from time and if wearing a fragrance that doesn't excite me but smells good nonetheless does that, then I'm ok with it. But I have several fragrances that I love to wear and truly I'm more likely to wear those fragrances than Sauvage. But every once in awhile...

I like wearing fragrances because they complement my daily vibes. I like many different vibes so I have a couple of fragrances. I like that in general if someone doesn't like me, they probably won't like my whole physical package (outfit/vibe/fragrance) and otherwise, it's shows a bit more of who I am, honestly, without shying out.

  • @brett.caldas-lima
    @brett.caldas-lima Pƙed rokem

Absolutely love your channel and philosophy, totally agree with you. For me, wearing a fragrance is only about loving it and not being able to get enough of it (I once walked in circles in a mall after applying a newly acquired fragrance just to smell my own trail, haha). That being said, this is also why I try not to be a snob and don't mind wearing things like Dior Sauvage EdT (which I recently bought again because I missed it). It was my signature scent for many years right after it came out (and so, before everybody started wearing it) and the first fragrance I really LOVED. The popularity of a fragrance should not make us wear it if we don't love it, but it should also not make us not wear it if we love it (damn that was a tricky sentence, hope I got it right). My two scents haha (which might have already been said in the comments, too many to read for me right now haha). Happy new year and all the best to you.

☆Hiya there J.C., really appreciate your take on fragrance journeys. Couldn't help but wonder if the saying you got to crawl before you walk has any merit here? When one sets off to explore the world of fragrance, the general tendency is to go to the popular or hyped frags, which in turn helps one approximate what fragrances truly enjoy? This is just one example, of a myriad of ways to develop a personalized 'scent-palate.' Could n't this way be a way of viewing the central idea of this video? Mucho respito y appreciation to you & the F.S.Crew☆

I would like to offer a counter argument. Not that I disagree with you. But just to add a different perspective to the conversation, I don’t think there’s a right or wrong.
I’m from Syria. In some Middle Eastern countries there’s an old quote: eat what YOU like, and wear what OTHERS like. Unlike clothes, which have obvious uses, practical, social, personal, religious and functional, perfumes have mainly a social function. Yes we love and enjoy wearing them. Sometimes they have a personal and nostalgic value. But we also use them to be pleasant, more attractive or get attention. And people around us, at work, in a social gathering or where ever also experiencing our fragrance, maybe even more than us. I for one am guilty of wearing or not wearing a fragrance based on feedback. I think we can get to some middle grounds. As picking what we like, but what is also reasonable in the social situation we’re at. My wife, after giving birth to our baby became highly sensitive to smells. She can’t take very spicy or very sweet perfumes. So I’m considerate when I wear a perfume around her. I won’t wear something I have around her, or even buy a perfume a sampled and liked if she couldn’t tolerate it.
Sorry for the long post. Sorry if my English isn’t good.

I sold my bottle of Wanted by Night to a coworker bc I much preferred the newer MOST WANTED flanker. Not the Parfum but first one. Anyway I still don’t understand why CHANEL AHSEE gets so much shade lol.
Yeah it’s not the hype monster that it was but I still thoroughly enjoy that one when I by chance “rediscover” it due to my growing collection. You compare Lolita Lempicka as a preferred scent to that one and I am so glad scent in subjective bc I have to disagree on that one. To me IMO Lolita is just “meh”.
I don’t reach for it at all and that is why it is currently on eBay with no bites or watchers đŸ€ŠđŸ»â€â™‚ïž.

Jeremy claims that he will close his brand. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen. I, and many of his actually very loyal fans, believe he only said that to quickly get rid of a lot of bottles and to quickly create money. But on the subject of production costs, isn't it really common practice that fragrances are actually very cheap to produce?

Let’s be real. If a fragrance gets boring to you or doesn’t “evolve” then you never liked it in the first place. And, that’s perfectly fine. To each its own. A better title for this video would be “Fragrances I don’t like and fragrances I do like.” It’s pretty basic but much more fitting. 😏
