Narrowboat Through Bosley Locks on the Macclesfield Canal - Ep. 75

- Continuing from our previous mooring (Vlog 74), we head off on our journey across Britain by Narrowboat and pass through Bosley Locks and Congleton to the end of the Macclesfield Canal.
We descend the twelve Bosley Locks of the thirteen locks of the Macclesfield Canal, lowering Silver Fox by 188 feet.
We travel through Congleton, stopping off to get some drone shots of Congleton Viaduct, carrying the West Coast Main Line, and visit Ramsdell Hall in Scholar Green.
After only two weeks on here, we have to race to leave the end of the Macclesfield Canal to avoid being trapped by the winter closures, and we make it to the junction of the Trent and Mersey Canal just in time. But which way do we go from there...?

You two daft buggers are my guilty pleasure, I used to holiday on narrow boats in the 70s and 80s , then a family took over my life. The quality of the videos and the information you two provide, in a sort of mates for ever way just makes me smile on a regular basis. Never stop entertaining us. It might a Frisian Version of the Latin "Gaius", or maybe of "Nikolaus". In Hawaiian a similar word means "ocean", in Japanese "pioneer", and in Chinese "victor".

As a mere southener ..... seems to me that most of the canals are concentrated in the north. Those that come south are connecting to the mighty River Thames or London. So if you like canals stay north, or want to cruise the Thames come south. Good Luck!

Thanks, Tony. It takes me a week to film and a week to edit each 20 minute episode so we have to squeeze as much in that as we can. Some of the other channels show more about the towns but we focus more on the canals and life aboard 👍🏻

I've been binge-watching you on here after box-setting you on Prime and this episode - aside from the gold shorts and Trex (which has been added to the list of things I'll never unsee 😂) - has taken me back to narrowboat holidays in the October half-term. Misty, drizzly days at the tiller with a mug of tea and mum handing up a plate of cheese on toast with Branston pickle. Best of days!
