Our travels saw us “WHIP INTO WYANDRA” a small outback Queensland town halfway between Cunnamulla and Charleville … and WOW!!! If you are driving along this stretch of road, be sure to stop and say gidday to the locals. What’s so good about Wyandra? We have listed our 7 reasons why everyone should drop in here:
    1. Wyandra Caravan Park
Why free camp when you can get power and water for only $20/night with fab facilities and meet Bonnie and Diesel.
    2. The MUST STOP Shop
If you need it or want it, the Wyandra general store is sure to have it! It is also the local post office and coffee shop (+ more) - all in one!
    3. FREE outdoor theatre/cinema
Great place to watch the footy on the big screen TV and catch an old black and white movie while you sit in the old canvas chairs and enjoy dinner and a drink.
    4. Heritage Walk
Just across the road is a short walking trail where you can learn all about Wyandra’s war history as well as railway and farming heritage - an interesting stroll.
    5. The Local Pub (Gladstone Hotel)
Worth a stop for a coldie and take the time to admire all the paraphernalia on the walls and chat to the friendly publican.
    6. The Warrego River
We ducked down to check out the Warrego and see what was happening with the floodwaters, we then wandered across the bridge to Wyandra’s well-known tourist destination on the banks of the river.
    7. The BEACH
Yes, it does have lots of real white sand (just like a beach) but in the Queensland outback.
    Time to hit the road!

There are so many 'unknown' small towns that are absolute hidden treasures. We have come to learn ... Never judge a book by its cover!
