Some sources even claimed that the Chinese only found out about the situation as they countered Japanese soldiers on the ground while they're still in transit into defenses in Rangoon. Under that circumstance it made the retreat of the Chinese troops a quite disorderly ones, and if I remembered correctly it was too late to even defend and maintain security of the main roads, forcing the Chinese to take the smaller and worse roads back.

Then they requesting foreign support, some Chinese authorities request help from the Allied, some from the Axis German, and some from requesting support from the Soviet Union.
