  • The fourth episode of Get To Know Transport Fever 2 focuses on adding cargo handling to one of our passenger stations and adding in a connected truck stop. There's also a quick look at how vehicle replacements work in the new game and how we are going back to the old Train Fever method of handling loans.

    This video covers a variety of new gameplay features in Transport Fever 2 but if you're looking specifically for help with using Mixed Consist stations and vehicles (trains, boats, and aeroplanes) you may find my dedicated Mixed Consist Playlist more helpful. czcams.com/video/ijFZIQS8H1k/video.html

    I love all the little changes, game actually seems well balanced once you get used to the changes.

      Yes, some of the new mechanics, particularly in vehicle management, are going to take some getting used to but generally they do seem to work well as a whole.

    Why is it so hard for you English to get to the point? It supposed to be a station help video but no. You have to show all the lines and cities that should be a seperate tutorial on "How to see passenger demand".
    30 minute video and it took you 10 minutes to start on stations. I think people already know they want to mix a station via title of you video and if they do they already have the need.
    You lost my attention at 3 minutes.
    I'm not trying to be mean but constructive opinion.

      Thank you. As many people have said, in one way or another "Its the not the Destination, It's the journey."
      I have since created a more focused set of 'tutorials' on setting up mixed consist routes but this introductory series was always meant to be an exploration of how the game works, especially in comparison with the first Transport Fever, rather than a basic 'this-that-there' reference video.
      Though, bearing in mind that they do contain numerous useful nuggets of information, I did add time stamps into the description so that you could quickly and easily go to the bit you were mist interested in.

    Maybe Urban Games will create an official mod for TPF2 for curved stations. Can't wait to recreate my local station of Rochdale in TPF2! Or Manchester Victoria.
    In TPF1, I found that you could unload passengers at cargo stations by having a train haul freight and passenger rolling stock. Pedestrians also do walk across/through cargo rail stations.

    • @AjaxpostPlays
      @AjaxpostPlays  Před 4 lety +1

      Hopefully! I imagine that the mechanics of adding curves to modular stations would be more complex than the old fixed stations it would be a great loss if we couldn't have that extra level of realism in the game.
      Ahh, well, in Transport Fever 2 you cannot neither deposit passengers on a freight stop, nor freight on a passenger stop. Although the stations can have the two types of platform they are effectively treated as two stations and the "cargo" has to match the platform type - otherwise you get a warning signal.
      In the example of the adjoining cargo and passenger platforms of my Riyadh station, because the tracks run straight through it is actually possible to have a passenger train stopping at the far end of "platform one" and a cargo train at the nearer end of "platform one". There are probably lots of ways of exploiting modular platforms for all sorts of interesting configurations. 😎

    I do not see the button for automatic replacement of vehicles in the game anymore. Is it somewhere still?

    • @AjaxpostPlays
      @AjaxpostPlays  Před 4 lety

      Hi, nope, I don't think there is one. It seems you can keep vehicles running forever by paying more maintenance. But the much improved vehicle manager makes bulk replacements a lot easier.
      Though... I've not yet tried it with a *lot* of routes...

  • @Schmaahn

    Thanks for your vid. I tried to solve it but still couldn't figure out my problem:
    One line is set up like this:
    1st station --> Unload bricks --> unload and load passengers
    Train turns around and drives to
    2nd station --> Unloads passengers BUT THEN GETS STUCK (no path)
    It just won't turn around automatically
    If I click on "turn train around" the train switches direction, moves a bit forward and then finally loads the bricks and heads back to station 1.
    Any ideas why the train won't turn around on its own in station2?

    • @AjaxpostPlays
      @AjaxpostPlays  Před 4 lety

      Hi. Without seeing a screenshot of your route setup it's difficult to be sure what the problem is, but it does sound like the track and platform setup at station 2 isn't quite right and so there is no way for the train to move from the passenger "station" at station 2 to the "cargo station" at station 2.
      I have since uploaded a more detailed, and more concise video showing a simple way of laying our mixed consist stations that might help you understand what happened on your route. Check out: czcams.com/video/ijFZIQS8H1k/video.html
      If that doesn't help, try to upload a screenshot to imgur or Steam and I'll see if I can make any more sense of the problem.:)

    Can you elaborate via comment on how to combine passenger and freight in one train? I can't get it to work and your 30 min video does not help me.

    • @AjaxpostPlays
      @AjaxpostPlays  Před 4 lety

      Hi, certainly. The thing to remember is that cargo can only be delivered to cargo station platforms and passengers to passenger station platforms.
      If you have a mixed consist train the route must include a stop a both types of station for it to load/unload both cargo and passengers.
      If you add cargo platforms to a passenger station the game actually creates a new station for these new platforms (you'll now see the two station icons). They share the tracks and buildings and street connections but as far as the game is concerned there are now two stations here.
      To enable a mixed consist train to deliver both cargo and passengers your track and platform layout must allow the train to stop at both 'stations' separately. A simple way of doing this is to place the two types of platform next to each other on the same side of the track so that the train can stop first at, say, the cargo platform and then move down the track a little way to stop at the passenger platform. This method is shown in my dedicated tutorial video: czcams.com/video/ijFZIQS8H1k/video.html
      There are, of course, many other and more interesting ways of doing this but the main thing to remember is that having two types of platform at the one station site actually create _two_ stations and your routes must treat them as separate stops.
      Hope that helps.

    U can mock the realism. Just send a Truck or trail to a depot first.
    Anything is possible in video games

    • @AjaxpostPlays
      @AjaxpostPlays  Před 2 lety

      Indeed, I am not someone who demands real-time real-life realism (though I suspect there are 'gamers' who do 😉) but sometimes a game makes 'suspension of belief' a little more difficult.
      But, at the end of the day what the hell, the game is a whole lotta fun anyway! 😎
