    There's a very valid theory that a good defensive coach would also make a fantastic 'Attack coach' too. The person who sets up a good defensive system invariably knows how to overcome one .

    It’s always been this way. We were doing this thirty years ago. Only difference is, Shaun Edwards has made it important. It’s not simply an afterthought. We used to discuss blitz defence half an hour before the game or in training during the week for ten minutes. Edwards has made a career out of it.

      @@dasrhinegold I think they look down on us less and less by the day. I was watching St Helens vs Wigan from 2010 yesterday. I saw Paul Deacon (Sale head coach) vs Martin Gleeson (Wasps attack coach) Then there's Sean Long (Quins for a bit) Mike Forshaw (Sale) Andy Farell and Shaun Edwards. League is influencing Rugby Union and not the other way around. And I love Union by the way!!! Love both codes. Most Union folks don't even know it's being done.

      I'm the same. Prefer League but that's because I grew up with it. Union is more technical and detailed. League arguably faster but both great sports

      nicknj80 I watched a video today from BT sport regarding defenses and they talked about the onus on Rugby League schemes. It was awesome. I watch both codes extensively. Love them both yet I’m more of a League fan. Wayne Bennett reminds me so much of New England Patriots coach Bill Bellicheck.

      ive always played both codes extensively. RU is a great game to play.
      i suspect the scots are happy to get Shaun Wane on board. they will play tough and defend intelligent. defence wins prizes.

      Steve Diamond was not the answer for us. I'm happy with Paul Deacon so far. Those early losses to Newcastle and Worcester were devastating. We needed those. Faf has not been himself this year. Out forwards are subpar.

      Coz eng wouldn't meet his demands. He wanted to coach Wasps while coaching Eng. And RFU didn't want that. He messed Wales around as well. Not sure how well he'd work with EJ. Seems to be v good.

      To be fair even in this world of cross code support the RFU would never let a League take the reins. I just don't see that.

      Funny enough because France is now using this type of rushing defense. And Edwards is not even here yet! I am pretty sure they are going to do a great job and that France will become a serious contender again!
