    Claire this is so encouraging, you are such a strong character! I'm in my 50s and its been 30 years since I started my training (I left the course after 2 years and my life took a different path, something I regret to this day). I'm really anxious about starting again, just as if I was still 19, but I'm trying to focus on all the other things I've achieved along the way. I'm hoping to do a 2-year MSc so I'm not too decrepit by the time I graduate! Loving your videos, wishing you all the best

    So many similarities. I was given a little nurse’s uniform when I was 5 and I pretty much spent 24/7 in it, bandaging my soft toys in toilet roll. I always had hamsters and rabbits because I loved looking after something. When I was in my twenties I was cooking as a chalet girl for a party of 10 junior doctors and they were really friendly and we got chatting. At the end of the week they said to me ‘you’d make a really good nurse’ and that got me thinking but like you thought it was beyond me. Started working in a residential care home and, like you, loved it but wanted to do more. I’m only starting my journey and you are an inspiration. You will be an amazing nurse because you have the biggest, warmest, most generous heart. My goodness your mother and grandparents will be sooooooo proud of you. And you should be very proud of yourself. You’ve done it....

      Caro H Thank you so much! And what an amazing story too! Well done!! 🥳💕 this is amazing to hear! I wonder if this is a common theme why people don’t come into nursing then? Claire Carmichael I’m doing ok. Waiting on my next ear surgery. I may also get a knee replacement this year so it’s going to be a challenge but will get through it! We just have to like you said. I am lucky to have an amazing husband and nice house to live in and have a couple of lovely friends for support. All is good :)
      A wee back story. I started nursing too when I was 21 after doing SVQs, access time nursing and working in a care home 14 years as team leader. I did not finish. In 2nd year I had to get my gall bladder out and since then it’s just been one health issue after another and can’t get back into it now! I’m 37 lol x

    • @ClaireCarmichael
      @ClaireCarmichael  Před 4 lety

      Shell Pullar Awww so sorry to hear all of that! But you’re doing amazing and well done for never giving up too 🌟 Sometimes you definitely need some time out to get better 🙈 especially with a hip replacement! But rehabilitation (as you probably know :)) can be speedy! And I’m sure you’ll be back up and fighting in no time at all! You might even be able to run faster from some patients 😜🤣 haha! But honestly, you’ll be an amazing nurse form it all :) you’ll be able to really empathise with patients after everything you’ve been through 💕 xx

      Claire Carmichael thank you. I have been told from the orthopaedic surgeon I won’t work in care work again. I think he is rite. I have worked with children and got childcare qualifications too. I might do some child minding when and if he sorts my bloody knees lol. There is 3 issues with them. Because of my TS my bone in my knee is shaped different and now my ligaments are twisting and creating fluid. I have arthritis and osteoporosis too lol. Can you add me on FB Hun? it’s Just shell pullar. Promise I won’t stalk you lol. I think we could be friends tho as we have lots in common hun x I understand if you don’t want to so don’t worry x

      Shell Pullar Aww you’re joking?! That’s so awful. I’m sorry 😭 BUT.... because I’m that annoying person... sometimes miracles happen and sometimes doctors and surgeons get it wrong or proved wrong in life. You just never know 🥰 BUT if they are right, and you can’t work in care again... you have so many options like you said :) you’re still going to be fabulous! And you can still do so much good in the world 💙
