Thank you for always making it easy to be open on here. As much as it hurt at times and as much I won’t miss the 🤢🤮, there’s a lot I’ve loved about trying. At the top of the list was suddenly hearing about all the firsts you’d all been targeting for yourselves. It doesn’t matter what the goal was, I think that’s the coolest thing in the world. Love you all 🌸
EDIT: just adding in case I didn't make it clear enough! I always had the green light from both Doctors for the way I tried to resolve my issues. I took many weeks of rest, cut + gradually ramped my training volumes etc. Their predictions were correct (that a complete stop would be needed) but I ran all my ideas through them and they were happy for me to explore with feeding + training options as the downsides to my stomach were minimal. If they'd ever advised I stop immediately, there'd be no questions asked. And that's what I'd always advise to anybody (: Sorry if I should have made that clearer!

You have inspired more people for even attempting what you set out to do, including me! I finished my first 20k trial race and had you in mind when the muddy hills got tough! "Natacha gives it her all, keep going too!" Ran through my head a few times ❤
All we ever want as loyal fans is for you to be well and live well. You are in that same list of women accomplishing amazing feats that you montaged in the beginning for me! Such an inspiration🎉
Also on the plus side, if you live to at least 85 years old (you totally will cause you are a badass) those 6 to 9 months off will only be 0.5~0.8% of your life not running! A drop in the ol bucket before ya kick it, you'll be back at it when you least expect it stronger than ever because you gave your body what it was telling you it needed, some well earned rest.

This video actually captures one of the most important and most difficult lessons in life - learning when to stop, when to back off. For people who are really inclined to push themselves, learning when to step off the gas ✨is the real area of growth✨ and self-development. Learning when to quit, or even when to pause, can be the greatest act of self love and is one of he greatest lessons you’ll ever impart to this audience that looks up to you. Completing a 100 mile race is really hard. And knowing when to pivot or pause from a goal is even harder. In my book, you’ve gotten a gold medal in the real challenge here. And I’m so glad you’ve shared about it. ❤

Speaking as someone that has recently run an ultra and a bunch of other marathons, you've achieved something 99% of ultra runners don't achieve in these races.
These ultra races for a lot of folks (perhaps yourself included) are to test your limits and see what you're made of. To position ourselves in a place of massive discomfort and pain and ask that personal question to see if we can still keep going.
Some folks wing these races. Others train poorly or have bad nutrition and still finish because their body's pick up the slack where their dedication wavered. It's never easy but they scrape by. But you never took any shortcuts. Not once. You took your body to the brink of what it can do and then some. Still marching forward. You've had to deal with the physical toll of the training, the emotional toll of the numerous set backs, the illnesses, the injuries all the while you found ways to get creative and film these documentary recaps.
It's not the finishing of the race that makes you an ultra runner in my book. Is the dedication that's required to prime your body, train and feed it that makes an ultra runner. People run these super long races to prove something to themselves. And many, even when finishing those races don't get that answer because they didn't truly get to the brink like you have.
In my book there is no question that you are an ultra runner with the heart of someone that can conquer the 100 mile distance. You've got nothing to prove and should be immeasurably proud of yourself.

I signed up for my first half marathon last year, and did my race a month ago. My initial goal was to finish, and then I got more confident and said okay, I want to run the whole time, and then got a bit more confident and said I wanted to finish in 2:30:00. Girl, watching this really helped me. I do have a hiatal hernia and it makes me nauseous whenever I start to exercise and it has been a huge barrier for me. Watching you come across the same issues and not being able to go on really validates my experience and goes to show that our bodies can only be pushed so far so we have to work with what we’ve got. Thank you!

Dude, you are setting such a good example. I hope you know how much I look up to you and how much you've helped me reorient towards a healthier attitude towards fitness. Last summer, I failed to listen to my body while running and injured my foot so badly I learned I need to wear orthotics. I'm still not back to running. But seeing you be so honest here and seeing you persevere really helps.
Your meditations on failure are really helpful to hear right now, seeing as I myself have been out of running for a while. Failure means you're succeeding at pushing your boundaries, and that you were brave enough to take on risks such as failure. One ought to be proud of that! Fail fast, fail forward.

Your encouragement of your audience to try new things, to move in new ways, to learn more and be more curious and informed in their fitness journey and in life in general, is just exceptional. I'm grateful that someone as accomplished as you athletically, in your education, and so many other ways has shown your "failure." So many people fail and it's an integral part of success and development and being human but it is rarely shown; because it's not about the failure but the amount of times you tried/effort that is the important part. Your health is everything and protect it as long as you can! Life goes on and sometimes it's even more beautiful. Thanks Natacha! 🌸🌸🌸

I have Crohn’s, so not the same but honestly this made me feel so much better about myself. I think in a way a person who I look up to and I think many others do too, and I think can do absolutely anything, struggle too with things out of her control made me feel less alone or upset with myself when I can’t do what I want or feel I should. That it isn’t just me or my disease and everyone struggles in some way, but to not let it win. You have to listen to your body and not put yourself in harms way, but it’s important to keep trying, and going, and not give up, and look for another way.
