My opinion is BBM is not really greed of power/fame, control, or wealth. He had it all. He is successfully redeeming their name, I think this is all he wished for. He’s paving way for the next better leaders of the country and insulting those dumb and self serving politicians. There are so many bright, promising , hardworking, more qualified young generation not necessarily products of high end universities. They need equal opportunities under the sun. Speaking from an ilocano point of view.

Pinbayaan ang mga military assets natin kaya kinuha na ng China ang WPS. Panahon ni FEM malakas ang Navy natin sa panahon ni FEM and nobody can bully us in the WPS during that time. Where are we now that we need the resources in WPS Dina natin makuh ng mga langis na nakabaon dyan para umangat ang economy natin. It's only now that PBBM is pushing to get that minerals in there. Still there are peoples praising the Aquinos. Its the dumbest thing you can do.

Over 30 years ago, I was an Economics student in a US university, there was a class comparing the Philippines and South Korean economic performance from the 60s onward. Obviously we were the cautionary tale for what not to do for developing countries. I remember looking at GDP tables and incredilously realized that we were so damn poor. I actually thought it was a misprint. When you do the projections over decades it will take us 20 years to get close to where Malaysia is at today if we can sustain our current growth rate. Now in my 50s Ive long realized that we will not catch up with many of our neighbors in Asia until the end of the 2nd half of this century maybe. The thing is I also realized that its the journey of economic development which is really what we should concentrate on. If we continue to grow consistently for a few decades the improvements in ppls lives will be irreversible despite our politics. The key is educating our youth properly and our demographic dividend will do the rest. Having a median age of 25 and being an investment grade country is key to this. We will also need some luck but we need to place ourselves in a position to take advantage of any luck that comes our way.

You have good points Richard. Lets showcase the Filipino as promising country.
Education as you mentioned, dapat makahabol sa panahon. Yung mga premium school natin, dapat hindi lang diploma for Jobs, dapat mag produce din sila ng technology mga bagong kaalaman na makatutulong sa Industry natin. Dapat nagmumula ang technology from Education. Sa US maraming product idea na nanggagaling sa kanilang mga University sector na napapakinabangan hindi lang ng local kundi buong mundo.

I agree with this video. It's a lovely vision when the time comes when fresh new and young Filipinos who are actually qualified (professionals and educated) take the political stage in the Philippines. Not just the people who are "mabait" or "celebrities". Majority of developed countries have lawyers, doctors, accountants, veterans, etcs who serves as a law makers and executives and judges. So the policies they create are also great. Compared to PNoy's "anti-wang wang" (His first or one of the first of his domestic policy as President), it's just really disappointing. Fortunately, the changes after PNoy has been positive so far. Hopefully the Philippines doesn't stray from that path.

Without him Ph aligning to Ch, the US, Japan, and other like- minded countries may never notice how strategic and important Ph's role in US defense strategy and world's maritime trading. Without Digong, we can't compare Ch vs US. He might have pushed US to define the MDT in detail to remove doubts among Filipinos and the world. After elections are done and somebody was sworn as elected... people should stop politicking and move one with life as it should be. Instead of monitoring politics and doing nothing else but that, you can greatly contribute to the growing economy by doing great at whatever you are good at (except of course, crime). By building yourself and your own economy, you enable yourself to support local businesses, which might not be a great contribution individually, but collectively, it is a valued contribution.
People focus too much on None sense hearings in the senate with foolish politicians making all the drama. DDS, Yellow, Pink, BBM, etc. all this none sense should go the drain once someone is elected see what you can do for this country, instead of waiting for instructions from your Idol or favorite politician on what needs to be done.

If only the Filipino voters are exercising their rights in the right way like voting for the correct politicians to govern and drive our country in the right direction then we would have been enjoying economic and industrial growth way faster that what we are having now, but, but enough of excuses... History tells us that rotten eggs like, FPRRD, VP Sara, Harry Roque, etc. will always be there and it's our duty as a people and as a nation to go back in time to when Filipinos used to be patriotic and morally upright to learn from our nation's history and avoid repeating the same mistakes...
I myself am guilty of voting for the wrong candidates when I voted for Duterte in the Presidency and that mistake costed our nation some six precious years which could have been put to better use but there it was there's no way I could bring back the hands of time so I'll just do my share as a citizen and start contributing to the progress of our nation in my own little ways...

Not sure why Constitution fathers did not see effective minimal two or three political parties only that can concentrate in generating campaign donations and working effectively. Multi political parties are so traumatizing to many regular ordinary Pinoys.

Oo, meron progress ang Pilipinas, pero intendihin nyo rin na ang primacy ng mga filipino sa loob ng ating bansa ay nasa peligro dahil sa massive influx ng mga intsik sa pilipinas. Ang Filipino Culture at Filipino Identity natin is also under attack. Tignan nyo na lang, slowly but surely nagiging chinatown na ang buong filipinas, o nagiging province of china na ang pilipinas. We need to galvanisec our pilipino nationalism in order that we can fight back and protect our country sa mga intsik.

I keep telling people that the Philippines is growing rapidly despite itself. No oil, being a flawed democracy, having our level of brain drain and poor educational system.
In a way, not having the oil is much much better in the long term. We avoid the resource curse that seem to afflict most of the oil rich countries.

Oil is non-renewable. Even KSA's crown prince (MBS) acknowledges that fact. Hence, the radical shift of their policies from oil dependence to govt-driven domestic investments ala UAE-style
