This actually makes total sense. Is Ninja Brian incredibly impressive? Sure. But he's also a sociopathic murderer with no people skills and most dates are gonna run away screaming. Brain helps Danny slowly lead her down a path to accepting more and more extreme crimes while letting Brain do some crazy over the top shit without ever having to actually TALK to her, which he can't do. Danny Sexbang definitely wants to get in on the action, but this was definitely for Brain's benefit.

I like to think that the point of the date was just to set up Ninja Brian with the girl. Like in the first half, Danny doesn’t have any real interest in the girl and is just pulling the Danny charm to get the girl more and more interested during the date they’re going on, but partway through the song, Danny says, “Hey, I like you,” to which Ninja Brian responds with the finger because he wasn’t supposed to start liking the girl to begin with.

I agree that this is the best part of the song and the animation, and I agree that it’s a small detail that adds a lot. Cuz the key change escalates to mirror the escalation in murder, then goes back to the original key when he decides to “pump the brakes.” Seriously genius, subtle stuff.
The ending isn't surprising at all, Brian was the muscle behind the whole operation, Danny was basically just along for the ride

I just really love the lore of NSP, like danny somehow befriended the most dangerous being in the entire known universe. They go on wacky adventures and Danny literally never gets scared because Brian can and will fuck anything up. I think brian just likes danny because he's funny and isn't actually scared of what is most certainly the deadliest thing anyone will ever meet.
They're like two primal powers. Comedy and violence, all you really need to make a universe.
Also Danny is immortal so Brian can just deal ungodly amounts of damage to him and it doesn’t matter so that makes him a top tier friend
It helps that Brian's seemingly actively tried to kill Danny on multiple occasions but it never works.

Alex Elf Wizard Well a while back I saw a whole comment (/essay lol) about what they thought was the lore of NSP, and it's that Danny's number 1 toughest ninja and Brian's number 2. Danny just wants to dance and quits being a ninja, but is still alive and technically still number 1. Brian then spends the rest of his time befriending Danny and tries to kill him in their early music videos. However, he becomes to attached to Danny and stops trying to kill him when he realises the awesome music they can make.
There's also the whole thing about 6969 and Samurai Abstinence Patrol but yeah.
