Using v1 of Middle Earth Mod. v1.1 will add banners and named generals, along with minor bug fixes and balance changes. www.slitherine.com/forum/view...
Unmanoeuvrable light foot; I think that's the first time I've seen that. Also, I think that's the first time I've seen those large formations for light troops.
See the link in the video description, second post for army list explanations; the size of orcish units is cosmetically enlarged, but mechanically and points cost wise not. the 16 figure ones are functionally 12, the 12 functionally 8, etc. Seleukid Levy Skirmishers in vanilla base game are unmaneuverable, you've seen them ;)
@@snugglebunny1840 Aye, I remember you explaining it to me. It's just the first time I've seen large skirmisher units in action. The levy skirmishers I forgot (because they largely deserve to be so :p)
I rather doubt this will happen, but the banners in next version help. I made this mod largely for personal use, knowing the lack of models would limit its appeal, but if a few dozen other people enjoy it that's an added bonus.
I'm sure your armies are at least better matched with each other than Third Age Total War's are, but if elves weren't so powerful then Morgoth would have conquered Beleriand.
Of course Morgoth did conquer much of Beleriand and was on the verge of consolidating his conquests when the Vanyar & Friends showed up to kick ass and cause severe environmental damage. When I create new army lists, I may create an earlier in the third age high elves list with a greater proportion of noldor and sindar, which will be impractical but enjoyable
Hmm... your opponent was fighting downhill for most of that, so it does say something about how dominant your position was that the elves still lost. My instincts have always been that mass beats quality in FoG, but that seems to have become a little less true as the game has been iterated on.
I have just started an Elves vs Orcs match, so we will see how I do in turn. My hazy thoughts as to what my oppo could have done differently here are to have concentrated more in the assault, or play defensive - the attack was a bit scattered and slow, which gave me time to surround. But I may come to the conclusion that the Elves need a boost of some sort, we will see.

Pike and Shot had those 400 man light arquebusier units too, though of course the graphics didn't greatly differentiate them
I am enjoying the mod, hopefully someone will make custom textures for units.

@@snugglebunny1840 I can't help but chortle at the epic War of Wrath being reduced to 'severe environmental damage'. XD
