Years later after all the Saw movies, that needle pit still holds a special place in my nightmares, sometimes simple just works horribly
It always horrified me too. Apparently they took all the needles off and replace them with a fiber optic like material. But then there was a mixup between ones that had been replaced and ones that hadn’t. So then they had to check all of the previously done Syringes before they could move forward. Sounds like quite the ordeal. And knowing this information still doesn’t keep me from being really freaked out by it.
Yea fact they made mistake and had accidentally put in real needles in the pit made it became real. I just imagine that someone at last second too late caught on they put in real needles in and they had to scramble just like Amanda to find the real ones.
I agree, it's still my favourite trap of them all. Smith completely SOLD the utter terror and horror we feel watching it.
@@evandaymon8303When Quentin Tarantino made Hateful 8, they were donated a 150 year old guitar to have on the set for authenticity from a museum.
A scene opens with an actress plucking at the strings, when Kurt Russell BURSTS in(and I believe he improved the action here) shouting
"MUSIC TIME'S OVER!"
He grabs the guitar, and before she can even react smashes it to a thousand tiny splinters across the set.
Thank fucking god he wasn't in charge of filming this scene in Saw 2 if all that was true lol
They could have easily had the most disastrous "prop mixup" ever, but fortunately for us(and unfortunately for him) I think Tarantino still holds that title
Edit: Nvm I totally forgot about Alex Baldwin blowing someone's brains out with a gun because he doesn't know the first rule of gun safety.
You're second place Mr. Totino!(there's probably more mixup that I'm unaware of and the list should probably be totally different, but those are the first few instances that pop into my head reading the comment)
@@nignamedmutt7270 that's interesting to hear to be honest
I have to agree about the editing. I genuinely don't understand why that weird quick-cut / slow-mo thing was so popular during that time period. It makes some really good movies difficult to go back to.
Seeing this again, I don’t miss the quick cuts of the early 2000s horror films..
Between seizure-inducing cuts and shaky cam, some of the worst filmmaking styles came out of the 00s.
And now that you've mentioned it, I for one would *love* a review of "Cube" - that's a movie that doesn't get anywhere *near* enough attention.
It did for a while, but sadly it died down. I blame the sequels.
Downloading this right now so I can watch it after work because it'll probably be taken down by then thanks to the amazing people at CZcams!
R u referring 2 the last post about the shining miniseries?
Haha yeah any reviews about mainstream properties seem to get flagged really quickly.
@@whatsit2ya234 I am! I think CZcams's garbage copyright claims are just a trick to make us buy CZcams Premium so we can still watch videos
CZcams is funny like that. Ive seen people posting outright propoganda thats left up, theres softcore porn on here, but showing clips of copyrighted material will get you taken down in hours.
Please do. I may have to come to you to get it if i dont do it in time
Donnie Wahlberg, Shawnee Smith, Glenn Plummer, and Dina Meyer... So many relics from the 1990's!
Interesting that they all ended up together in a SAW sequel and not in a Pure Flix or Christmas TV movie!
And Mark Rolston from Shawshank shows up in later movies.
Nope, a Relic from the 90s would have way more references to the hypothalamus.
@@funandyvideos take my like, and now I have to rewatch The Relic!
What was Shawnee Smith in in the 90s? I always thought she looked familiar but could never place it. Oh, and yes, I could Google it, but I'd rather give Brad the engagement so the algorithm favors his channel
@@gyromurphyI saw her in Armageddon years before I knew who she was lol.
I learned the hard way: Saying "Electric Boogaloo" every time you hear someone say the word "two" can get you in hot water.
I would of gone 'Saw 2: Saw Harder'.
You said World War 2 Electric Boogaloo didn't you Squidward?
"jigsaw is like if old testament god was a slasher villain"
hardest quote i ever heard
I remember that the pit with needles hit me hard when i saw it. I dont like needles. Great commanding presence from Tobin Bell.
Same here. That scene was terrifying.
I agree on not liking needles. The Exorcist and No Country For Old Men are great movies, but I hate the needle scenes in both of them.
Plotwise Saw is pretty much a soap opera with blood and gore, I'm actually kind of surprised they haven't done a plotline involving long lost twins at this point.
I've been waiting for the twist that Kramer is still alive, and the Jigsaw that died in 3 was a body double😂
@@vistea1 Would it really surprise you if Saw X turned out to be a sequel where Kramer's twin died in 3 and Amanda survived the gunshot?
Weirdly enough, that's kinda why I love the series. Movies 1-9 are kinda run just like they're the bloodiest season of Criminal Minds!
@@coolnerdlll6053 Honestly... No. That'd just be another Tuesday for John and Amanda 🤣
I think that was sort of the plot twist in 6, the health insurance guy & the reporter were surprise siblings.
Never much was a fan of this franchise. But there are some unique and frankly devastating traps.
Some of which you can easily get out of if you are smart and calm with minimal to no injury whatsoever.
@@evandaymon8303 True.
@@evandaymon8303you try being a part of a trap you know nothing about when waking up suddenly with a timer attached, with a guy talking in metaphors
Ah, the memories of watching this on DVD when I was WAY too young cause it was on my Dad's video shelf, and my mom coming in and saying, "You probably shouldn't be watching this."
same but i watched it some bootleg copy cause i remember the movie went black and white in some parts of the movie lol
I remember borrowing a copy from my friend and for whatever reason I kept it in my backpack and carried it with me to church youth group that night until school the next morning to return it to him.
It was the fancy edition that had the fake "lava-lamp" type blood in it that would slide around as you tilted the case.
Damn. Makes me feel old to look back that far now. My mom(who would have lost her shit if she caught me with it) just died a few months ago, and that friend I borrowed it from died almost 8 years ago.....
Getting old sucks.
We need to get it trending that Saw X and Paw Patrol 2 are coming out on the same day. Make #SawPatrol the new Barbenheimer. I honestly think it's even funnier.
OMG that title is amazing!
"I want to play with some puppies..."
12:22 "OT God as a Slasher".
Snob has no idea how right he is.
Especially when you understand that this Villain's motivation is based on 3rd century Christian morality about penance.
I've often thought of God as a Judge... like Dredd. And all the Plagues and stuff he did in the Old Testament were settings on His Holy Lawgiver.
@@louisduarte8763 how dare you make too much sense!🤣
I've only "Saw II" a few times, but I always thought that it's twist nearing the end *Not Going To Tell Because Of Spoilers* was quite interesting yet shocking in my opinion
It felt like a "so should I go back to see if Tab A really fits in Slot B? Nah, it was probably fine..." situation.
Saw II > Saw
The father and son angle was also used in Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice. I really hope the Snob the reviews that next month for October. He just reviewed the original CotC not too long ago!
I saw this opening night. Needle pit was a highlight with a packed theater
Death nurse is one of the rarest vhs tapes out there.
watching this makes me miss Welshy's videos on the saw franchise from back in the day
2:00 Fun fact: the actor in the first trap, Noam Jenkins, is also the voice of Aiden Pearce in the Watch Dogs games.
Murderous March in September! Love it!
I’m a bit disappointed you have a character in this film called Eric Matthews and you don’t do at least one Boy Meets World reference.
I will say I’m not huge into the Saw films but I like them and for me what I appreciate the most out of them is how much they are detective/crime films.
These early films are great but it's funny how many empty buildings are in one city.
And how easily it is to kidnap half a dozen people at the same time without being caught.
A lot, especially if you own a few of them
This is perfect timing i just binged your reviews including the first saw!!! Rip Lloyd😢
This movie was so intense!
hey Snob i've been sick for the last week so your vid made my day thanks!
This was the first Saw movie I um...saw. and it was in the theater too so it was a fun time.
Thanks for this. Can't wait for SAW X...!!!
If Jigsaw needed a doctor, he could have asked Shawnee Smith's character if she knows the number of Dr Becker.
I once legitimately had the thought that I would go the entire rest of my life without ever seeing anyone reference Becker. I guess I was wrong.
@@HanMashoI used to watch the ever loving piss out of Becker. CBS used to re run an episode on weeknights before The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
@@marcen12 I was never a huge fan of the show, but I do remember catching reruns from time to time. The fact that I watched it at all must mean that it was at least okay. I just don't remember anything specific.
It was a VERY average show tbf.@@HanMasho
Or Dr Tenma, who has such a history with psychopaths as it is.
I hope Cinema Snob will do a review of every saw film each year.
Please tell me you’re going do the entire Saw series! Did anyone else face palm when Hoffman built his own ridiculously intricate jigsaw trap in 5? Holy shit it was over the top. It pretty much 1 upped anything jigsaw has ever done.
My favorite Saw Movie by my favorite Snob
Whatever you say about this film, Saw II is the second Saw film of all time!
PREACH BROTHE
"...of all time!!"
I really hope you review all the movies just so we can watch you scream at the 7th one
I never got into the saw films. Wasnt my thing.
Same, this stuff is just too bone chilling for me
Watch Wisecrack's Philosophy of Saw, and your mind will change.
Jigsaw went to a lot of effort preparing all those antidote syringes considering that the group consistently failed to retrieve any of them 🤦🏻♀️ Honestly Jigsaw could have just left syringes filled with water and saved himself the effort of obtaining the antidote in the first place 🤷🏻♀️😂😂
We both know he wouldn’t do that as it goes against his methodology. (Although Amanda would but probably regret it since she got thrown in there.)
@@evandaymon8303 I believe that Amanda was already given an antidote before the game started. It's never shown on screen though.
@@Rando1975 I wasn’t really including Amanda or Daniel as she’s the apprentice and Daniel was meant to survive.
@@evandaymon8303 True.
@@evandaymon8303 Jigsaw preaches a lot but as a character he is actually wildly hypocritical and inconsistent, he breaks his own rules extremely often and usually for petty reasoning if any reason at all. He'd absolutely use placebo antidotes when the end game he planned has nothing to do with actually using them.
Congratulations!!!! I’m happy for you Man, believe it or not iiiiiimmm walking on airrrrr!!
they should get rob zombie to make one these saw movies
Damn Brad, stepping it up for Muscle Mark in September!
MING THE MERCIFUL IS SCARED OF HIS OWN SHADOW!!!!!!!
THIS SEQUEL IS AMAZING.
Given the crazy connections in the series, I’m surprised Daniel hasn’t come back as an FBI agent hunting Jigsaw lol
Probably because they already had tapp did it in first movie/video game and having another person to take over tapp would probably be bit stale
I heard that was an idea they were floating around, but it could have been total bs.
@@evandaymon8303 Not exactly the first time they'd be reusing plot points.
@@KaleidosXXI alright i get it
I like to think that because both Tobin Bell and Glenn Plummer shared a scene together in the first season of ER, Jigsaw had been targeting Jonas since 1994.
Kevin McCallister hasn't been the same since Home Alone 2.
I honestly really like Saw V. The cat and mouse game between Hoffman & Strahm made it high on my list.
I still think Hoffman is alive. We never see a body so I feel like he'll come back around in X or future sequels
@@kellz9972 When Spiral came out, someone edited the Wikipedia summary so it basically said Hoffman was the second killer and had already killed Dr. Gordon. That honestly would have been a really good twist.
Saw 2 is the best of the franchise.
This movie was pretty good, i saw in theaters . This series should of stopped after 3
You SAW it in theaters?
It's amazing how much this film succeeded and influenced the later SAW films despite being a quick turnover film made with a recycled script. Hellraiser has suffered multiple times due to this being used on it and bombing each time.
The wrong Wahlberg played Max Payne. It should have been Donnie. A burned out, alcoholic cop? Donnie could have played that in his sleep.
After 2 the series really went off the rails. I remember being super upset with 3 for breaking series rules and the fake jigsaw stuff
That wasn’t all him
Love ya snob!
I really hope he'll eventually review The Collector movies
Fun fact: The Collector films were originally pitched to be prequels to the SAW franchise by the writers of SAW 4-7(Melton and Dunstan) but eventually the studio declined it because they thought the timelines don't add up.
If Slow @$$ Mother-F***ing Jeff from Saw III was in either this or Saw IV, then Jigsaw's plan would have failed.
you know i am surprized snob has not done the cube movies...
this is my favorite Saw film. It's what the first one should have been if it had a budget. High body count, but more grounded than the rest of the sequels.
aww Cinema pops
Props for directly lifting a riff from the MST3K episode for Mitchell.
16:52 the exact words I scream in my head In theaters watching this. Makes no sense!
Yay i get to watch this on my birthday
Is that the same Shawnee Smith from the Stand miniseries?
Yeah
Why do people keep cheating on their spouses with Dina Meyer!?
Best fucking thing all day. Not that mad at life right now.
Saw: The Musical!
Donnie Walhburger looks like Bruce Willis on this movie. It's like, he took notes on set of the sixth sense and decided to become Bruce Willis.
I saw SAW II too :)
Donnie Wahlberg's name in this... just had me thinking about Boy Meets World.
How did John age so much between 1 and 10, then get younger for part 2?
Since Saw X is taking place between 1 & 2, I was wondering if they were going to "de-age" Tobin Bell for the movie.
Naaaah they’ll just give him a backwards baseball cap
@@Rando1975 They really didn't
Amazing cinema snob review of saw 2,fantastic job. Do a review of dead silence too.
A little early for Halloween, but I'll allow it.
Do fans of AVGN recognize the overweight man in the barbwire trap from the Pepsi Man episode?
Jigsaw becomes an honorary cenobite once he dies
Can you please review Killer Klowns from outter Space?
Shawnee Smith was pregnant during filming, but kept it a secret from everyone, including the director and producers. Her daughter gave the secret away one day during lunch, but only to the director Darren Lynn Bousman.
We're gonna need a snob episode for each Saw movie now
Bousman!!
Saw 💪🔥
7:27 Hey! I'ts Nikki Downing from "Who's Harry Crumb?"!
I hope when they make "Saw X", there's a lot of foot focused violence.
There's definitely going to be leg and thigh violence with the one "doctor" and surgical floss.
Close enough
Aaahhh, the memories of watching this movie at a very young age and being incapable of telling my parents why I had trouble sleeping.
Honestly, even at a young age I appreciated the twist at the end and made me not just watch movies but to observe plot progression too. So thanks Saw II.
My brotha sound like Jack Nicholson at certain times throughout this video lol
Nice larry legend reference 🤘
Honestly, I like to imagine these movies stopped after Saw III.
Please review "Anna and the Apocalypse" for Musical March in September...could be fun!
Why the fuck was Macho Man in a Rubiks commercial?
Yay thanks I don't watch tv I didn't know saw is coming out soon yay blood an murder time
This series of movies? No, I never saw them.
Bravissimo ❤❤
🥶
So this Year No Musical March in September?
Beverly Mitchell being around Jigsaw was probably safer than when she was on set with Stephen Collins.
I still haven't watched any of the Saw movies. Should I?
Yes, you should. I used to be afraid of Saw, but once I started watching the movies, I got used to the violence and the soap opera moments kept me engaged in the story.
RIP Musical March in September.
This movie was responsible for the death of my TV-DVD combo lol got to the end tried taking it out and it caught on fire 😅
19:38 Surprise Mudvayne!
Saw 2 is the best saw. Not too complicated. Jigsaw is still alive. Isolated location. Good twist ending.
This is the only Saw movie I ever saw. A couple high school kids wanted to see it and I was 19 so I got to "chaperone" a couple 17 year olds.
I never got the motives for this one, so he's punishing the victims of the guy to punish the guy and his son by killing the framed criminals? like wouldn't you put like his friends and family in the traps more then just 1 of them being related to him?
Cool review as always Snob 💯
Thank god for you, sir. 😂
6:23 LMAO
