This is hands down the best swimsuit sewing tutorial! Such clear instructions and I love that you show how to get that professional finish where the lining doesn't peek out anywhere. Thank you so much!
The best tutorial on sewing a swim suit. I stuggle so much on sewing a swimsuit but now no more. Thank you to you Catherine and Mrs Jenner, now time to tackle that little monster and tame it to a kitten.
Your "strap attach" is genius! 💃 Though I am 69 and not looking to make swimwear, all the knowledge you shared is useable for lingerie projects. Thank you so much for your efforts!
This one's a bit advanced for my measly sewing skills, but I wanted to say, I really appreciate your teaching style. So calm and reassuring. You'd be my first choice of an Instructor any day. Thank you for the great video(s).
Thank you so much for the video. I have so much trouble using my serger to apply elastic. Thanks to your video, now I can you my sewing machine to sew it in ❤
Really enjoyed this video. I am a fairly confident sewist, but swimwear seemed daunting. I am now going to try it. Thank you so much, very inspirational and I shall seek out more of your tutorials. Chris x
Catherine could you explain the difference between a standard rotary cutter and a bearing rotary cutter? I've been sewing for 58 years and never have used a cutter. I thought rotary cutters would not be accurate but you make them look like a great tool.
Don't no if this info is any good to ppl but I've made some bustier tops and for the cups I used craft foam that wud be ideal for swimsuit as it won't soak up water
Some great tips here. I am actually sitting on some footage for a one piece. You have motivated me to get that video done. Love this cute fabric! Thank you for another great video. PS. Love the new editing technique.
Thanks for watching! I'd love to see your video on a one piece. And thanks for noticing my editing. It's always a work in progress. I didn't notice till after I uploaded that the volume is funny at the beginning. Grrrrr! There's always something!!
@@CatherineSews I’ve been working on my editing too. It’s is always a work in progress. So many things to do! I’ll try to put out the one piece video in the next week or so.
In my college first year (though none of us were real beginners) sewing class, our 1st semester final was the construction of a 2 piece bathing suite that fit! It was 1969 and the fabric was cotton lined with cotton and included a a back zipper! 😂😂😂 Please do a one piece bathing suit as at 73, I’m past my bikini era. I bet I’m not alone . . .
Isn't it crazy to think of a cotton swimsuit with a zipper! You might like the video where I turn the bikini top into a tankini. I'm also past any point of wearing a bikini! czcams.com/video/JMi7IfIahk0/video.html
They're pretty quick! The first one takes the longest, of course, but once you get the technique down, you could probably make one in a couple of hours!
Dear Catherine Sews.... Very Cool Spider-Man Shirt!!..... And that works because here is a new comment, I hope you like it.... Here goes...... BACK HISTORY: As a young girl, Catherine Stitchit woke up late at night hearing what sounded like thunder. She scrambled out of bed and went to the wind curiously because she had no fear of lightning, to her Great Spirit was launching various firecrackers. And pulling open one curtain she only saw a full orange moon and this caused Catherine to scratch her head. But then she saw something glowing in the woods exterior of the family backyard and so she quickly got dressed, jeans, shirt, sneakers, coat, and handy-dandy flashlight. She slipped outside accompanied by her dog, Stitch, and then ran into the woods hoping to find something. And after an hour she discovered a strange big ball of yarn with two knitting needles acting as an alien antenna. She gasped in shock and fainted and Stitch barked excitedly and with concern. "Who are you?" she asked after waking up. "I am the Stitch-Witch Wizard and I know you are an honest soul because my Mahagick Knit-Ball is never wrong. Your world is going to be invaded soon by the evil Lord of Wrinkle of Crinkle World located in the Crumpled Multiverse. I need you to help protect your planet from Gawd awful wrinkles." Right!? I think it's difficult to serge the elastic in; too much going on at once! So glad you found this video helpful!
Thank u so much! I loved this video and it really did make me a lot less afraid of sewing swimwear 👏🏻🥳🙌🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🥳
I'm so glad! I was also afraid of swimwear, but now I love it!
Cute swim suit.

@@CatherineSews No sweat! It's the only bikini action I will see today.

I won’t be wearing a string bikini anytime soon…lol. Love the tip for 10-11 and 8-12 elastic stretch.
Haha, me either!! That's why I did the next video that shows how to add a panel to the string bikini top. It's a game changer!

Hey Catherine! The provided pattern has since been removed. Could you recommend an updated one?
great tutorial. You don't put elastic in the straps? It is easier to keep them flat without but i thought maybe i should?
Thanks! I never have put elastic in the straps and never felt the need, but maybe it adds something?
I have a seeing question about the elastic guide and how to buy short shank???
After you put the pads inside the top will they remain inside without a closed finish?
Also what is the name of the scissors you use. I missed the name but I believe it starts with a "G" and sounds much like a German brand.
❤❤❤💗💖💕
Good work !!! Please where can i get that type of sewing machine?
I love my Babylock Sofia 2! This website should give you locations of dealers near you: babylock.com/machines/100/sofia-2
Catherine would you show us how to make a no underwire bra? Sports bra? Please 😁
Thank you! How long does it take to make one bikini?

Swimsuits are scary because the material is soo slippery
