    In the 70's Billy lived in Bloomington, MN when he was with the AWA. We would drive by his house just to get a glimpse of him. He drove a Cadillac Eldorado, his shoulders went from door to door. One of the biggest dude's I've ever seen, still to this day. Jesse Ventura copied everything he did. A true trend setter.

Obviously he was very influential in the 'making' of Arnold that we all know and love. Very complimentary on his drive to the top. And how kind of him for a professional wrestler to care enough about a bodybuilder by enrolling him in college. And how nice that Arnold is Superstar's daughter's godfather

    Actually the story of Arnold's calves by Superstar...if it was early in Arnold's career in California, one wonders if there were implants. I doubt it, for he worked out hard. I have a 'Best of" Weider book with an article by Arnold where he said that his calves were the result of 500 hrs of work

    • @daveconleyportfolio5192
      @daveconleyportfolio5192 Před 8 lety +6

      +Kevin C I doubt there were calf implants at that time. (If there were, Bill Grant would have got some!) But I guess Arnold really looked up to Reg Park and followed his lead on heavy calf work. Plus he made a point of cutting off the bottoms of his sweats so he couldn't hide them from anyone. Incredible focus and determination.

    • @iDONTdoFacebook
      @iDONTdoFacebook Před 5 lety +5

      Kevin C ...from what I’ve read of Arnold’s BB career, his calves were his weak point early on -his Achilles heel. Arnold being Arnold, he saw the weakness, put his mind to it (and a lot of pounds and hours of work) and built those calves into a strength. Arnold wasn’t satisfied with any weakness or disproportion to his physique. His MIND was SET on physical perfection, and he got as close to it as anyone I’ve ever seen either before or since. It’s just too bad he didn’t put as much emphasis on doing as well in the real man department and strive for perfection of character to match his physique, for the truth is that NO OTHER SUCCESS CAN COMPENSATE FOR FAILURE IN THE HOME. We all love Arnold, there’s so much to admire about him. But he failed at home, causing a lot of pain to the people who love him most: his wife and children. But life is about learning from mistakes and I hope big ‘A’ learned from his. If he would work on that particular weakness of his with the same aggressive mindset that he applied to his calves when he saw the weakness there, he would be a much better man in the areas of life that are so much more important than bodybuilding. Bodybuilding is a temporary thing and what you build there doesn’t last while character is something that can last forever -something you get to keep and take with you.

    • @erich7662
      @erich7662 Před 4 lety +2

      He said nothing worked for him til he tried doing many sets of super heavy Standing Calf Raises - up to 1000 lbs - every other day. Then they grew *significantly* (joke intended) Heavy ppl have big calves bc of the heavy load put on them, often. Throw in fantastic overall muscle genetics plus plenty of juice and BOOM! Killer Kalves!

    • @erich7662
      @erich7662 Před 4 lety +3

      ps: Implants can't calf raise 1,000 lbs for reps!!

    • @joninwm
      @joninwm Před 3 lety +1

      Early on Arnold had small calves compared to the rest of his body. His earlier pictures he would stand in water up to his knees or either have the camera man not show them. He prioritized his calf training and slowly they began to grow.

    I speak 3 languages and can tell you that learning a language to speak well is a hard task and can take a long time. Billy don't crticize Arnold for having a hard time with languages until you start to learn one yourself.

    The wwwf ruined his wrestling life taking the belt to put it on Bob Backlund and 5 yrs later put it on Hogan I feel it hurt Graham to see a Graham type in Hogan .

    So wasn't enough for Arnold to be the most great bodybuilder of all time, the greatest action hero of his era, a big politician, so he'd also become the godfather :))
