This model doesn't have a dip stick. So, I measured the fluid out and in.

Not sure how many will see this but there’s a parameter in the service shop scan tools to reset when you change this fluid. Make sure to let a dealer or shop reset it.

no there's not, I do these shitbox lemons like every other day.
i dont know where you got that from. maybe on a 2017 and newer but this generation most certainly doesnt do that. if your check engine light comes on after this job you did something terribly wrong along the way

Wish I could do this but I can't remove the first plug.. I'm not sure I'm pressing on the tab correctly. 3 hours later and a badly cut up arm I think I will just take it to the dealer to service lol

@@dsuarez2001 take off the coolant reservoir. There's one bolt holding it in place and the extra room makes it so much easier to remove the cap

You should’ve tapped edge of socket wrench with hammer to loosen
I just took the whole tube out it’s a 10mm at the bottom of the tube easiest way better than messing with that plug for sure

Don't change the fluid with original Nissan it's last for 10k that's it. go with Castrol cvt transmission fluid
i never heard of this i have been told the opp. never use nothing but nissan its made for nissan and juke cvts any other brand is bad for them
@jessegoodspeed5076 you guys are both wrong using OEM oil always the safer bet but using branded oil is fine as long it meets the spefication. My car needs NS-3, something like Valvoline cvt fluid worked for my car. It wont void your warranty. I've been switching between Valvoline and OEM depending if im broke or not but most of the time OEM, about to hit 190k on my 2014 sentra. Last year i would read that AMSOIL cvt fluid was really good and gave it a shot and personally i felt a difference compared to OEM and Valvoline. On my next change and from then on i will probably be sticking with AMSOIL.
Have you changed the filters and seal since this fluid change?
Your supposed to change the filter when you change the fluid as well
Thank you for your suggestion. It maybe good to replace filter and gasket, but it is not recommended on Nissan Sentra service manual book. Only fluid.

@@jayamerican5390 theres actually two filters i was referring to the inner filter wich is not that complicated ive done it myself the outer one on top of the transmission is a little more difficult
@@adezulfikar5115 yes i believe its because it can clog up the ports inside there are many many small ports the fluids gets pushed through and the filters are suppose to be for life. and or a nissan mech told me if you buy brand new and change them everytime is fine but not if they never been changed. just a spill and fill

At what mileage are you suppose to change the transmission fluid nothing is stated in the owners manual?
Every 30-40k miles for your cvt tranny to last.
every 50k is what nissan recommends
It's supposed to be 50k. I do it myself so I do it every 30k to be safe. I don't take any chances with these transmissions. If I was paying for the service I'd do it every 50k at the dealer but doing it myself is much cheaper so I do it more often. (It's my gf car, I tried to convince her to buy a manual Car but she wouldn't, even though she can drive manual. My car is a 2013 Focus wth a manual they are super reliable (383,000km and counting) so if she would have agreed to stick, I would have found a cheap, higher mileage 2013-2014 Focus.
It has 2 filters to change the same as the Altima?
It has two filters....A strainer filter that is accessed by the transmission pan and then a cartridge filter behind a metal cover off the side of the transmission around the driverside tire area. It's a little hidden but just one 10mm bolt. I would say take the driver side tire off and wheel well liner to get right to it. Or you can kinda blindly remove it and reinstall if you know how to do it. Just remember to rotate it back in some to get the one side with no bolt behind the tab 👍
So after filling with new fluid do you wait until all excess is drained?? It was still draining when you put the plug back on can you clarify please
i believe you need to put more in like he did and take drain plug out keeping the fill tube in and it will drain out fill tube and when it starts to trickle and stop having a steady stream its good

Actually, it's 7.25 qts total
Capacity is 7 1/4 but you can’t get it all out unless you do a flush so 3qt is all your really changing

Hi. Does anybody know if a 2011 Nissan Sentra transmission is compatible with the 2016 Nissan Sentra? The wiring on the 2016 doesn't seem to line-up/ reach the sensors on the 2011 transmission. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Why put extra fluid in?
Not a good idea to put 4. He is trying to save time, instead of doing it twice, each 2, he short cut to this. Not bad and not very good trick.

Hi Zach, you can put the same amount of fluid you drained it, then done with it, but since the car doesn't have transmission dip stick, you will not know if the fluid you have drained it was on right amount. I put more, because the car still has some fluid inside the transmission. I warmed up the engine, so the old fluid inside the engine would mix with new one, then drain it again when temp has reach suggested temp by Nissan (6:20 video). With this method, I will be sure the fluid left in the transmission after I drained it on 2nd one will have correct amount.
@@oltunde6249 No, if you doing it twice, you will still not know if the fluid you out inside has correct level. You will need to put it extra, and drain it again to take the extra out.
@@adezulfikar5115 I understand, it’s ridiculous the manual doesn’t tell how much it holds. I would hate to have extra fluid though and it go to waste.
@@zachw611 Right. It holds 10 quarts total. Drain and fill only took 20% of it. Complete flush will need 10 quarts. The fluid is 3 times more expensive than honda or toyota transmission fluids, so yeah, hate to waste the fluids.
Here is simple math to calcukate how many % new fluids we put.
First method is like what I did. I put 4 quarts and drain 2 quarts.
Total fuilds 10 quarts, I took 2 quarts and fill 4 quarts, then drained 2 quarts. Total inside the transmission before I redrain it was 12 quarts.
(0%x8/12) inside all old+ (100%x4/12)new fluids = 33.3%
So, the fuilds inside now contains 33% new fuilds.
2nd method is what mentioned above by Ol Tunde. Take 2 quart of, then fill it 2 quarts. Do this twice.
(0%×8/10) inside + (100%x 2/10) new= 20%
Then 2nd drain and fill,
20% (8/10) inside after 1 drain/fill + (100%x 2/10) new fluid= 16% +20% =36%
Yes, this method 6% better, but if you dont fill it more, you will not know for sure if the fluid inside tranny is 10 quarts.
