Great video man!!!! Highly informative and very useful!
Thank you Eddie for a great video. It sure is informative and just right where it counts.
The new Pathfinder went back to a automatic transmission. My Nissan Sentra is a 2017 and it currently has 130,000 miles. Owned it since new and have not had any problems with it.
2020 Sentra SV 42K good daily commuter I love her can’t lie no complaints from me..
(Switching the trans fluid and filter next oil change as well)
Definitely get that fluid changed. Ive seen them go +150,000 miles with proper maintenance.
At what point is it too late to change the transmission fluid? Would it be worth switching out the fluid at 75k?
Nice and clean ? Did I hear correctly..
Easiest maintenence prevention I've done with my Sentra is I change my CVT Fluid every 30k miles. It's easy and will prevent it from failing.
they have a sealed transmission how?
How do you like that solus edge
By servicing every 30k miles what do you exactly mean by that? Change filter and change fluid?
I have a 2018 Nissan Sentra and when I accelerate it sounds loud and I don't feel that the changes are made fluidly, this has to do with the transmission, right?
I think that most people do not know how to drive a car with a CVT, there are many Corollas with broken CTVs and you can see it here on CZcams, apart from that it must be that the old CVT was delicate, my father-in-law has a B17 but manual transmission and he already has it close 200k and the mechanics go on and on, which indicates that the car really is of outstanding quality, here in Argentina they are very durable, as much as a corolla or civic, here you don't hear any problems with the CVT and I don't think it will persist that fault in the new sentras, it is assumed that they added the 1st and 2nd gear to improve operation, just like toyota did
Never thought of that... I own a 2017 Nissan Sentra SV and to be honest I have not had any issues with the car.... I have done regular maintenance check ups and nothing else.. 180,000 miles car works like new ... Everything works as designed.
I had a 2018 Corolla hated the cvt. It simply would not down shift fast enough on its own unless I put it in sport mode. So braking quick eith the tranny keeping up with sudden loss of speed was a joke.
It felt like it was coasting no matter how much you were braking.
That car got flooded, so total loss, bought a Nissan Sentra, which slows down 100 percent better, but their cvt is notorious for being a problem.
I got geat milage with the Toyota and with the Nissan.
So seems you either get dangerously bad engine braking or down shifting ability with Toyota, or you get better down shifting safer with a Nissan that might not make it to 60,000; before having a tranny failure.
Can you teach us how to drive CVT
The issue is that they can’t handle things that other transmissions can. For example launches. Do too many of those and your cvt will break in under 50k miles.
I have a Nissan Versa Note 2019, about 60,000 miles.
Is thr 2029 model year liberated from the tranmission problems?
❤❤❤Good job
@justcallmeeddie1. How did you program the TCM?
Catalysic?
My 2015 Sentra’s transmission has went out.. someone told me about the year and model they didn’t do so good so I have started to research it because I thought buying a new transmission would be the better thing to do, especially with everything I have going on. Thank you so much for this video. I’m sad, I thought I had a real beauty and im still lost a bit but your sharing of knowledge omg is power. How long would a new transmission last? If you don’t have a good job for new payments, should you just fix the transmission? ThankYou for all the advice.
Do what Im gonna do, manual trans swap
Nice video. I have a b15 2002 with low miles I had sitting for a long time. It was my first car. It gave me headaches throughout the years but she’s a rock all in all.
I have a modern new suv to enjoy with my family but I wanted to buy a used 2012 sentra 2.0.
Do you think the b16 sentra 06-12 are good sentras?
I hear most all complaints are linked to the b17 sentras from 2013-+
Stick with your B15, the b16 were cvt's now if you find a b16 or 17 with the manual transmission they are rock solid.
Thankfully my 2013 is still running good.
Hope she can make it till tax time of next year…
My handle 😂 fell off on my drivers side was covered under waranty😅
Did changing the alternator fix that loud noise you showed earlier in the video when looking under the hood?
Yes it did. Bad bearing in the alternator
Those cvts seemed relatively cheap to repair to me. Has to be cheaper to rebuild than to replace unless you're getting a steal of a deal on a replacement.
The main problem with these cvts is the parts to rebuild usually cost so much plus labor it’s simpler and easier to just swap them out.
My Nissan Sentra 2014 has 178.700 miles, original transmission, alternator, and starter, replacing the transmission fluid every 40.000 lasts longer.
Thats the way to do it.
Hey, what about a manual transmission? Could I avoid the problem of replacing the transmission?
Would have probably have to swap modules to do it right.
I just noticed some noise this days. Nissan sentra.i don't know if it was the transmission or gear . 😢😢😢
these cars are daily drivers, not for spirited driving and change fluid around 25K. Do not tow its amazing I see hitches on these cars and the Versas!
I know people are crazy. You will see a recurring theme on my channel and with the cars i buy/ end up with most are broken due to improper maintenance. Thanks for the comment. Be sure to Subscribe.
I got a quote from Nissan how much it is for a new transmission and other things wrong with it. But how much would someone other than Nissan would charge to replace the Trans if I bought the Transmission at Texas, Houston? I'm at 98k miles and not ready for a new whip, lol.
Help me. Nissan Versa 2012 year. I just changed the cvt oil along with the filters. Traction occurs when the speed is 100-120 km/h. Sometimes it happens at a lower speed. What spare parts are you saying to change. Cvt repair is very expensive here.
it might be ur clutch disk depends on the oil u took out of it was dark black then u should have put it back as it has all the materials from ur cvt mainly the clutch disk and now that u put new oil in and flushed out the oil oil with the material in it ur cvt might slip. from cvt owner to cvt owner accelerate ur car slowly and maintain a certain range of speed don’t go from 30 to 60 then 60 to 30 continuously it will damage ur belt hope this helps 👍🏽 just slowly work ur way up and maintain that speed try to break smooth as well
I have vibration when accelerating. I asked one of the mechanic and he told me I have to change the CVT transmission. Knowing that my transmission fluid is less than it should be.. What do you advise me.. refill the liquid or change the transmission
You can try to fill the transmission up to the proper level. If that doesnt help you need a transmission.
When do you recommend doing a tranmission fluid change for a 2020 Nissan Sentra S 28500 Miles?
Asap. I do a drain and fill once a year.
I have been paying for step motor. Mine no ref at all
Hey thanks for the info
I have a 2018 sentra with a bad cvt
I am planning on replaced myself.
I am a tech but i dont know if it needs to be programed aftet replaced?
Yes it will need to be programmed. You will most likely have to tow it to the dealer after installing it to program. I have used mobile programers before also. You can program yourself with the right programming hardware and software.
@@justcallmeeddie1 thanks a lot bro!!
@@justcallmeeddie1 I am going to get a Toyota better
What was the mileage?
You need a Nissan Consult III plus to program the TCM, the other option is carry over the ROM chip from your old transmission and reset your trans adaptations with a Autel/Launch/Snap-On scan tool.
When selecting from 40 to 60 some noise and slowgish.
14 nissan versa has started to rev high, more than the usual. No other issues going on. Any thoughts?
Make sure you have fresh cvt fluid. Clean the throttle body and maf sensor.
Is the “rumble strip vibration” a sign of a bad transmission? I have a 2017 Sentra with 66K miles on it
Yes it is. Sorry to hear about your troubles with such low mileage. Misfires can also cause that issue but its more often the transmission on the nissan sentra.
@@justcallmeeddie1 will the transmission oil change help? I read that in a lot of Nissan forums.
Don’t service them? It states right in the owners manual all you have to do is read it. Service it every 30 k . So many run the shit out of these cars. They are economical not a sports car. Inexpensive car, with people not taking care of them. Then cry when they break look at the inside of that car? You said clean , there’s NOTHING clean about it . The inside was taken care of as well as the mechanical.
I agree Service them every 30k. It's the dealerships that tell consumers that not Nissan engineering per say. You're right people drive these cars into the ground and they we designed for economical driving but Nissan takes advantage of that by giving these cars weaker transmissions than the later models so they can sell more transmissions and new cars.
30,000 miles for a $300 dollar job, it was $369 for me cause they quoted me the old price. The hell with that give me a regular automatic transmission or I will learn to drive stick shift. CVT are trash and do not have a good lifespan, 200,000 if you baby the thing.
I bought a new2007 Nissan Sentra with the cvt trans. I broke three transmissions before it hit 50k miles.. Nissan told me they wouldn’t replace another trans. and I traded it in the next day. Most of my driving was highway so that should have made it easier on the cvt. I will never buy another vehicle with a cvt, not even a Honda. They have had problems too.
Why even buy a remanufactured transmission just get another car and I bet it will be better than Nissan
Nissan has failed transmission simply
Hello
I’ve planning to buy nissan sentra 2020 GCC 100k driven is it good to buy?
Don’t do it bro if I was evil I would say go ahead and buy it
I was thinking of buying a 2018 is the cvt weak in these years pls help ???
Yes it is. Common problem. Would suggest buying a toyota or honda instead.
I ve 2018 sentra ..in fact i used to change cvt fluid and filters every year ...inspit of that i see my car now loosing its power with shifting noise ..my advice to keep away from awful jatco transmission!
I used to have one of these. It seems like no matter how good you take care of it the transmission will still likely go out.
Those cars you mentioned all use a cvt.
Yes they do
i have a 2014 nissan sentra trans went out at 127000 they want 5000 to change it for a new one the dealer is the only one i found would change it out
My son has a 2013 Nissan Sentra with 97K miles. Nissan dealer just told me it would be approximately $7400 to fix the transmission with a 12 month/12K warranty. Does it make sense to fix? HELP!
Yes this does make sense. These transmissions aren't cheap and dealerships charge high prices for their repairs. My advice is to find a smaller independent shop to swap it out.
Thank you so much for your advice!!💕
One more question. In your opinion...approximately what would be a reasonable price?
I bought a 2013 sentra about a week back for 1,500. Transmission needs replaced it'll cost about 2,500 for it and probably 700 for labor maybe lower, but it's way cheaper buy one new and have someone swap it out :)
@@user-xr7ly3wq3oThank you! Found out there was a recall that ended in 2019🫤
Hi, can they make cars transmission easy to fix belts so it's done the same day. Like easy as changing your alternator. Change a belt in transmission and your out the door. I had a transmission going out on a 2017 nissan sentra. Those cars are lemons. Lol "nissan"😮 I returned it back to the dealer. I still was making payments, stopped paying. I brought another nissan rogue. 2015.
Transmission replacement 6000 BUCKS as of 2//222024 RIDICULOUS!!
How muck was the trans from Nissan
Price can vary but it's usually around $3200
A new transmission $3200 for a Nissan Sentra
Do you know how much cost a brand New or maybe rebuilt cvt transmission of a Nissan Sentra 2018? Please 🥲
Spent all my money on this car, and now im living the reprocussions
Its basically a torque converter like the ones on a go kart 🤦😆
Exactly
CVT'S JUNK
How much was the transmission?
These transmissions are about 3,200 bucks at the dealer
I was just quoted $6000 to rebuild with new parts, replace pulley something, replace body something and catalytic. Does that sound right?
It includes part and labor. 1 yr warranty
Hey can I talk too you private I want too order a transimission
Email me justcallmeeddie1@gmail.com
Car is manky dirty you can tell whoever owned it didn't care for the car
My 2014 nissan sentra sitting in my driveway since transmission went in Nov 23...Just waiting to hit the lottery & buy another vehicle 😅
That sucks.
"Nice and clean", that was funny. That car is a disaster. I'd hate to see one you call dirty. I'm an auto detailer, but even if I wasn't, the first thing you see is a crooked mat. Not an owner that takes care of anything, that's so basic; tire pressure also. That's probably why the CVT went bad (and everything else); not taking care of it. I have a 2017 Sentra with 65,000 and you can't drive them like you do a conventional transmission. You can't drive at high speeds, you cannot pass with it, you cannot tow with it. you can't push the gas and expect the overdrive you get from a conventional transmission.
It goes 0 - 60 in about 3 months with only 124 HP and you must not try to change that. Drive it like you are 60, and it will be okay. Drive it like other cars and it will disappoint you. Change the oil regularly and check it before you drive it from whatever shop you choose to make sure they did it. I take mine to the dealer or do it myself.
I was lucky and they gave me a new CVT ($5200 in 2023) under warranty, although I didn't notice anything wrong with it. But now, I will basically baby it for the second half of its life. But that car in the video was driven hard or something and neglected. That's a lot to be wrong at the same time. I haven't put anything but a battery into mine and it looks showroom new. I would have been embarrassed to have surrendered that car in that condition with trash and old food in it. "Clean"...really?
I would love to have a Civic, but yeah it is more expensive and that is a deal maker and breaker. People who buy Sentras cannot afford a Honda. People how buy a Honda can't afford a Mercedes, and so on. It's easy to say, but not easy to do. I wanted a new car I could take care of as one owner, and the Sentra was it. I like it very much and don't intend on replacing it. I love not having a car payment and owning a car only I have sat in.
I hate it when mechanics drive my car with those dirty gloves and not wipe it down afterwards...but good video
Sorry man. I try to clean up all cars when I'm done driving them.
You don’t have the ability to repair it because the design is so bad. I’m using that one next time.
Wait what? You say they got 48 mpg in the 80s?
How much the cost of a brand new cvt transmission of anissan sentra 2015 model
About 3500 plus another 1,200 to install and another 200 to program.
@@justcallmeeddie1take the eprom out the old transmission put it in the new one you have to reprogram it
@HotSizzleTv. What is a eprom?
