On PP's stream he was talking about this set in his Apex overview. He said after he watched Leffen destroy Mango in the $1000 money match he was super intimated. Leffen came back stage while the next set played where he saw PP. Apparently Leffen looked over to PP and said "After this you and me go to war." and Leffen looked really excited. And PP told him he thought it was more like a dance or a conversation. I thought that was an interesting anecdote.
I think your anecdote has single handedly gotten me back into fighting games. Thank you so much.
The way PPMD thinks is based off the Inner Game of Tennis if anyone wants to learn more about it. I also recommend the Art of Learning as well. Both beautiful books.
If I remember correctly PP said that as an explanation of why he was shocked to hear leffen thinking of melee like war. He didn't say it to him.
This part was soo hype with the full build up to then see PP's icon starting to light back up.
I crie evry tiem
i cant even see while typing this rn
kevin is the only smash player where ive seen adversity within himself power him up like this.. your so inspiring doctor pee pee....
You need to research Korean DJ. The papercuts episode was amazing about this
1:00 gives me chills every time.
Who would of thought some nerdy stud under an alias Dr.PP from North Carolina playing a 20 year old party game would be so damn inspiring.
My favorite part of the documentary, thanks man!!!
This scene and the moment when he gets to work to figure out the puff matchup are the best parts of the documentary, imo
Alright. I think I could buy this in confidence. Like damn that's some sick production value
2:53 just fits so well with the music this little 2 second clip of this dodge/grab just gives me chills.
2:23 That was the fastest edge hog i have ever seen in my life
Ramen noddles edge guard
@Aditya Sharma It was almost peak PPMD at this tournament , of course he was faster that your eyes can see
I remember leaving this same comment on the original set video back in 2015, and some loser had the audacity to tell me it was actually really slow.
It was cool as hell but unfortunately it was a little too slow. The reason why Leffen didn't grab the ledge is because he was a little bit too low on his side B. PPMD looked it over frame by frame when he rewatched all of his Apex 2015 sets and he agreed that he was too slow and if Leffen had grabbed the ledge, he would have probably lost that game.
@@CinderGamer it actually was really slow though. Not trolling just saying that most intermediate casual Smashbro players could hit faster edgehogs.
Leffen's bewildered look while the crowd expodes with "USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!" is just so fucking delicious.
this set with this song with all the history of PPMD… This tournament, Kevin fended off the Swedes to defend America and cemented himself as one of the greatest to ever play the game. I don’t know if he’ll ever compete again, but if he does, make sure to not sleep on the doctor
He didn't defend America. He defended himself ❤
He is seemingly more in the community than ever so I wouldn’t be surprised he comes back in about a year or so.
Sleep on THE doc? Never.
Thanks for the upload but please plug Garrett Williamson for the music and Samox for the whole video, still, so people can find out more about it if they dig it
Edit: thanks for doing so Jarrett! Great stuff
do you know what song this is?
its hype.
@@herrojason unfortunately no, since it's not been officially released yet. I recommend you checking out Garrett Williamson's soundcloud to not miss it!
@@herrojason hey are you still looking for it?
Thanks for clipping this part out. My favorite go-to moment of the documentary.
The Biggest What If in Melee History
It hits so hard narratively to see PP popping off in front of a USA chanting crowd, after watching him struggle to overcome and make peace with the demons Mango brought out of him
I wish GF had been treated with just as much hype as this set.
It would've been hype, but the narrative tried to propose that the winner/loser isn't what's important. It's the connection you make with someone
That’s my Meg Head!
Leffen is sus
i need this song asap
Still need it?
@@jairo17 nah i got it ty
PUT IT BACK IN
Hey please don't take down the video, just credit the creators and we can have this scene more accesible by just watching this video!
