I think The Smash Brothers tells a better story. It feels more complete, and the timeline of events feels more sharply constructed. But for *ME* Metagame is way more sick. But I think that's because Metagame feels more like it was targeted to people who are already fans, rather than showcasing a scene people might not know about if that makes sense. I can point to countless examples where the story feels more profound in The Smash Brothers, but for every one of those, I can point to a counter-example of just how white knuckle and intense a set was presented in Metagame. The game itself feels more mythical in Metagame while the whole community felt more well-represented in The Smash Brothers.

A lot of people in the comments haven’t seen the recut. The only part that’s different is the part about him bullying the guy with hearing problems. Which is fair to remove because it’s just one guys account of something that can’t be proven and isn’t smash history. Leffens tweets and forum posts are all documented and are in the final cut. I think this change was fair. His villain arc is still there because that was an event in smash history, but that specific account of cruelty that isn’t documented, is not in the doc.

I remember when Leffen came to Memphis, TN with Armada. We hosted them at the crib and got to play with them. Armada was really friendly and outgoing, just fun to be around. Leffen was just quite and kept to himself. I guess this explains why.
