Wow, reading this is a real shock. I loved him but i wasn't aware so many others did, thankyou for all these lovely comments. I miss you Grandpa, especially when it comes near to Easter. I have great memories of your garden at this time of year. I am so proud to call you my Grandpa Brian, lots of love, Izzy
Your grandpa was much loved in his role as Foggy 😊. I watched him when it was first aired and still watch the repeats over and over again. If I am feeling low I watch the Last of the Summer wine and somehow everything seems ok again . God bless Brian , Bill . Peter and all the late members of the cast ,
We loved those old geezers! As Americans who lived five years in Yorkshire, we continue to watch and enjoy LOTSW. All if the cast continue to live on in our hearts and minds! 💓
I still love this show and agree Brian Wilde was the best third man ......I've watched them since the 70s and still laugh ...Such a gentle humour. We'll never see the likes again . But thank goodness for all the repeats ...cried when Clegg died....R.I.P. thanks for the fun boys.... your memory lives on
I agree Last of The Summer Wine was never the same without Foggy he was a great actor. I thought he was great in Porridge too. Actors and people like this just do not come along anymore. RIP Brian
I would like to pay my respects to the wonderful Brian Wilde he played a wonderful character in the Last of the Summer Wine RIP Brian you will never be forgotten
For me, Brian played Foggy to absolute perfection... a twit, but a lovable one. Not a twit in real life though, but a fine actor who left us his work so we can still enjoy it through recorded media.
I agree all 3 in the show felt real friends u could see it in the episodes sometimes l forget there fictional characters but the memories u get from show r real
Jesus Defender yes for me it fell apart after they left, have seen some editions recently on channel called Yesterday and editions with Thornton, Sallis and Owen were good, but once Owen passed away and left show that was it for me. i found some episode just repeating same old plots over and over and actors not as good.
Damien Le Maistre I totally agree with you Damien, I liked Blamire, Seymour and Truly, but Foggy was the best third man by far, he was so funny. Compo is what makes me love the show, Bill Owen was truly funny, one of my favourite actors and comedians of all time, I wish the series where Compo died had been the last ever series of the show. Because whenever I watched an episode after that one, I felt like the show was missing the most important thing it had.
Loved watching him and his jungle stories in The Last of the Summer Wine. R.I.P He was my favourite character in Porridge He was born in the the town just next to mine
so cute, the idea of three old friends spending their days just hanging out looking for stuff to do and usually finding trouble. in the end, they could be found having tea or a pint at their favorite pub or just laying about on a comfy piece of grass somewhere on a hillside. what a life. and we all got to share it while it lasted. rip guys.
I'm 52 and on the Autistic spectrum, when I feeling low or have anxiety I put on the 3 boys, the joy I get from Foggy Cleggy Compo doesn't be long cheering me up. Great characters.
I used to love the running joke of Foggy getting on his high horse about something or other, with Compo and Cleggy standing at his side and, whilst he was ranting, the camera would subtly zoom in closer closer to him. When the shot panned wide again, they'd buggered off. Haha.
Brian Wilde is a true legend hes up there with the other legends john thaw, dirk bogarde, norman wisdom, sidney james, and all the ones i aint named R.I.P
Ah dear old Foggy...He who was worshipped by the natives for some reason 🤣 Loved it! Nothing will ever beat this Amazing programme, might even use this music for my own funeral even tho i'm 11K miles away 🙂, cheers.
I think foggy , Clegg and compo are up there somewhere acting like big kids like they did in LOTSW , they made the show what it still is , RIP all 3 of them
I watch reruns of Last Of The Summer Wine all the time here in the USA, and his character of Foggy Dewhurst was a classic. The way Foggy, Compo and Clegg interacted with each other was pure comedy genius. So sad to know that 2/3 of that classic trio is gone. God rest your soul Brian, and thank you for all the laughter.
Doesn't matter what colour ,religion or beliefs you hold , great actors like these made you feel happy last of the summer wine ,porridge ,open all hours etc gave me so many happy moments in my life and made me love the English way of life and thinking. Mr Brian Wilde thank you
Great personality thanks to the uploaders of LOTSW shows that I could see it on youtube - I became fond of the characters and enjoyed every second of the plays. thanks Brian Wilde RIP
I'm American, so I must give a huge THANK YOU! for explaining what happened to "Foggy?" Okay, now it makes more sense. I thought it may have been the infamous "contract" disputes that more often than not, remove fantastic actors from their craft/shows... Again, thank you! - J
I knew a man who live in Holmefirth who was the spitting image of Brian Wilde. He was called Ernie Wilde. He used to go door to door and say’ “My name is Mr. Wilde.” Everbody thought he was Brian Wilde, They would say “I didn’t know you lived in Holmefirth”. He let them believe he was Brian. RIP TO BOTH OF THEM.
Lovely tribute.....lovely music. He was not only in my favourite sitcom,Porridge, but also my favourite horror film, Night of the Demon. Simply magic in LOTSW with Bill and Peter. Authur Askey on stilts......LOL. Days gone but NEVER forgotten. Thanks for the wonderful memories.........
He actually reminded me of some of the old vets I knew in my youth.corporal. The fantastic old war stories the lie about the many heroic things and adventures that they had. Old corporal Foggy Dewhurst an excellent character.
@stalbans4eva I really enjoy watching "Last of the Summer Wine". I live in Kansas City, Missouri, USA and was just introduced to this wonderful show. Your Grandad was my personal favorite. I just wanted to let you know that he is much enjoyed on this side of the pond too. May he rest in peace. Thanks for sharing him with us.
"Thah talks a load of flannel foggy"...R.I.P to all 3 of these fine men! They did a marvellous job & bought many laughs to the UK audience. You will always be remembered for your good works. R.I.P God bless
'That Man!!!' he was one the best third man in Last of the Summer Wine and a best loved copper in Porridge he will always be remembered now, he can RIP with Bill Owen and Ronnie Barker Brian, we miss you!
I’m still enjoying Summer Wine every evening thanks to U.K.TV Play. I think the episodes go out of sync sometimes but it doesn’t matter. Foggy appeared to have the sweetest smile …… I enjoyed watching him 💚
For me it was Brian Wilde who made the series so loved- his character (Foggy Dewhurst) had me in stitches each time he heard a bang and shot his hands up in surrender. The next funniest character was that of severely hen-pecked Howard (Robert Fyfe), followed by brief appearances of Eli (Danny O'Dae). I appreciate that not everyone would concur with my priorities.
Foggy Dewhurst Brian Wilde) was my favorite of the trio. But Seymour Utterthwaite's character) came in a close second for the third man. We totally love the series and have bought most of the DVD's.
I loved his characters. Both Foggy and Mr Baraclough. Gone but not forgotten. A true acting genius. Thank you Brian.
Bill Owen, Peter Sallis and Brian Wilde were the best 3 of the whole series absolutely the best no others came near.
Seymour was a close second in my personal opinion
BIG AMEN BROTHERS THE BEST !
It's was the magical three, That's not Captain Zero
Absolutely but I. also miss John Comer, Sid and the other three together were the perfect gang
Sid was on the same par.
The best line up
By far

The best ! Those jungle stories.
My heartfelt condolences. Those beautiful memories live on. I miss my granddad
Its sad they are all no longer with us, and the beautiful music on this brings a tear to my eye too.
I still love this show and agree Brian Wilde was the best third man ......I've watched them since the 70s and still laugh ...Such a gentle humour. We'll never see the likes again . But thank goodness for all the repeats ...cried when Clegg died....R.I.P. thanks for the fun boys.... your memory lives on
I have been recording the whole series showing on Sky then deleted all the ones when Foggy left, it was not the same without him.
My favorite trio compo, clegg and the fantastic foggy never the same without them
Or without IVY banging a tray on the heads of the unfortunate victims.
I agree
One of the best character actors around, Foggy Dewhurst was and still is a comedy legend from a legendary TV series. Rest in peace Brian.
Brian Wilde was a true comedy legend. RIP sir thank you for all the happiness you bought into the world.
I agree Last of The Summer Wine was never the same without Foggy
he was a great actor.
I thought he was great in Porridge too.
Actors and people like this just do not come along anymore.

He did an awesome job portraying Foggy. He is my favorite of the trio.
I have a big grin on my face and a tear in my eye at the same time....

He was my favorite on Summer Wine, he will forever be missed.
RIP Brian Wilde, I don't think Summer wine was ever the same without him or Bill Owen

Jesus Defender oh yes Seymour was good, but Wilde, Owen and Sallis were the best three men the show ever had and as you say needed them, I agree.
Damien Le Maistre I totally agree with you Damien, I liked Blamire, Seymour and Truly, but Foggy was the best third man by far, he was so funny. Because whenever I watched an episode after that one, I felt like the show was missing the most important thing it had.
Damien Le Maistre Who do you think was the best out of Bill Owen, Peter Sallis or Brian Wilde Damien? I think Bill Owen is the best by far.
Joseph Marrison I think Bill Owen too, but Brian was good too, it's hard decide tbh
Loved watching him and his jungle stories in The Last of the Summer Wine. R.I.P
He was my favourite character in Porridge
He was born in the the town just next to mine
These had the best partnership for Last of the wine.
Good old Foggy and his"war stories", classic television.Brian Wilde was a cricket loving old fashioned English gentleman, very much missed.
Nothing like the Last of the Summer Wine. I watch over and over. Real actors...
Harry Jagernauth Indeed. One of my favourite sitcoms.
Like you I can watch it over and over again. Wonderful soothing comedy Anita
so cute, the idea of three old friends spending their days just hanging out looking for stuff to do and usually finding trouble. in the end, they could be found having tea or a pint at their favorite pub or just laying about on a comfy piece of grass somewhere on a hillside. what a life. and we all got to share it while it lasted. rip guys.

Brilliant actor,well done that man!
I used to love the running joke of Foggy getting on his high horse about something or other, with Compo and Cleggy standing at his side and, whilst he was ranting, the camera would subtly zoom in closer closer to him. When the shot panned wide again, they'd buggered off. Haha.
I stopped watching it when Foggy left the series for the last time in 1997 I just thought it was never the same without him
to right my friend porrige was a great series and he played the gullible mr barraclough with such expertise a charming voice and manner

Well done that man...
He will be sadly missed. My dad and I will always remember how much laughter he brought to our home as Foggy Dewhurst.
My condolences to his family.
Have loved this bunch for years, I have every DVD made and particularly now love the scrapes that Howard and Marina get into.
The golden age of last of the summer wine. Thanks for the happy memories foggy
Brian Wilde was on of the most underrated actors on British television. I was gutted when I heard of his death. :(

Lee
Ah dear old Foggy...He who was worshipped by the natives for some reason 🤣 Loved it! Nothing will ever beat this Amazing programme, might even use this music for my own funeral even tho i'm 11K miles away 🙂, cheers.

Brian was my favorite character in "Last of the Summer Wine." Foggy's tall figure, craggy face, and quaint personality always cheered me up.

He actually reminded me of some of the old vets I knew in my youth.corporal. The fantastic old war stories the lie about the many heroic things and adventures that they had. Old corporal Foggy Dewhurst an excellent character.
Compo, Clegg and Foggy were by far my favourite combination. (Although Seymour was pretty funny too, with him that was my second favourite trio).
Same here as well man. Those four as well as Nora, Sid, Ivy, Eli and Auntie Wainright, were all who made the show truly funny to watch.
The series finished in 2010 , but ever since thanks to sky gold it’s still been shown 5 days a week ever since...........Nice one sky 👍
@stalbans4eva I really enjoy watching "Last of the Summer Wine". I live in Kansas City, Missouri, USA and was just introduced to this wonderful show. Your Grandad was my personal favorite. They don't make good shows like this and Minder, Only fools and horses, Are you being served etc anymore. Most modern shows are truly medicare.
medicare?
( mediocre) is what is meant here .🙄👍🏼👍🏼
FOGGY WAS MY FAVORITE !👍😁🇺🇸
"Horlicks" ... The funniest answer ever said in a comedy sitcom.
Not familiar with Horlicks. I live in the USA so I had to look it up!
Never clicked he played both parts. Great character.
"He who walks thru jungle without disturbing a leaf........."
Always in a higher pitched voice haha
He made us all laugh and in today's world that is an accomplishment not to be slighted !!!
What a lovely tribute to him
VIP Mr Wilde from your fans in the USA. Now Compo and Foggy are back together again walking through the hills in heaven.
Loved Foggy! RIP xxx

It would be a boring world if we all had the same taste 😉
@@nursejackie8872 Agreed - I'm not asking anyone to have the same tastes as me.
I agree Howard then eli then smiled
Bless u for compiling this touching video of an extraordinary character and his co-stars 🙏
Foggy Dewhurst Brian Wilde) was my favorite of the trio. But Seymour Utterthwaite's character) came in a close second for the third man. We totally love the series and have bought most of the DVD's.
