- In this video, I will show you my daily sketching routine, as well as give you ideas and drawing tips for any beginner! As part of my goal to becoming a better artist, I do this sketching routine nearly every day. On the days that I work, I will do the routine during my lunch hours or after work and on the days that I have off, I do this routine typically in the mornings.

My tip is to fill a jar with words, characters, ideas, subjects. Anything that could give you an idea what to draw. Works for me, when I have no idea what to draw or paint.
Wow..great idea!! You just helped me get out of an art block
Such a great tip thanks!!
Ok but im stuck on the part of what to write on the paper. What did u write?
@Ann Moonstone thanks!!
trxnquil gacha or you just might give a try o Jazza’s Arty Games App!! I bought it and really helped me with art blocks 👍🏻
I have a bad habit of starting a new sketch book without finishing the last one.
me too. soooo many sketch books
Same...
How do you treat your finished books then... do you shelve them?
Or do you use them to make more art?
I think everyone does that lmaoo
I also have this problem.
The reason why my sketchbook is still blank is that i want to draw only perfect 😅😅
Its not always about perfect picture all of them are cuteee
Your sketchbook is MEANT to have imperfections!! I mean, where else are you supposed to practice and sharpen your skills in order to become perfect?? A loose sheet of paper, something you can easily lose? Naw, don’t be scared! I used to be like you but then I said, bruh, if I’m not perfect now, then why tf did I buy a 20 dollar sketchbook??? Idk you be you I guess, all I’m saying is that you shouldn’t be afraid and that you bought that book for a reason...to practice!!
You can only draw perfect if you keep drawing even if you don’t like how it turns out. Just go with the flow and do whatever, don’t care how it looks just keep sketching and you will improve I promise 💖
Sketch
my sketchbook is full of messed up sketches😃
Me: * watches a bunch of videos about drawing *
Me: yeah i feel like skeching today!
Me: * opens skechbook and stares at it for half an hour *
Me: please kill me....
😂😂
I look at some videos about how to draw a cat and i end up drawing Nitta Sayuri from Memories of a Geisha book😂😂😂

Same thing with me lol
Absolutely beautiful talent. I'm 52 years old I've always found sketching and watercolor beautiful. It's never imagined I could learn it. But I'm going to. My husband's going back for his masters degree, and I'm going to learn how to sketch! 😁
how is it going now?
The better version of a morning routine, lets be honest here.
@ Blue. Thanks for the tip.
Hey! I’m a young, aspiring artist and this really helps! I just got a new sketchbook and was scared to “mess up the pages”, but you have taught me that it is just a sketchbook, and there is nothing to be afraid of! Thx for reading everyone!
Edit: I just came back to this video a year later and completely forgot I commented on it! I just finished my first sketchbook yesterday and am now starting a new one! I’ve definitely learned over the past year that not everything I draw has to be perfect.
It is actually pretty fun flipping back and seeing your "mess ups" and comparing them to more recent sketches. Without having "mess ups" you wont be able to improve.
The way you draw faces is phenomenal! Your style is very unique - I like how its mostly realistic with a slight cartoon-ish feel to it; it's very subtle, but you know it's there. Also, your drawing process from 4:49-7:50 was entrancing. You're one of the few artists I've come across who actually gives characters bushy eyebrows, full lips, and beauty marks/freckles. It's just...wow.

Unknown / if you like big bushy brows and freckles, you should definitely check out “Pypah’s Art”
I draw almost daily and I like to use 1 sketchbook at a time to get a sketchbook finished. I have had multiple sketchbooks in the past and just felt like I never had a completely finished book.
I think completing a sketchbook is pretty tough. With all of my sketchbooks, I can't say that I've ever completed one (this includes back to back pages). I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. Probably using 1 sketchbook like you do is a better option :D
LOL you are right it is not easy completing one. I completed one this year with thanks to Inktober. But, I don't remember the last time I completed one. It has been awhile.
Artistic Gamer28 same
I find that i have an easier time drawing on just printer paper. The amount of money spent to buy a new sketch book is so expensive i'm always pushing myself to be perfect at it instead of enjoying the art. I attempt to keep from freaking out over the little things but it seems like a waste if i fill it up with just imperfect drawings? Does that make sense?
Alexander Devries Yes, i want to try this. Do you keep them in a folder when you’re finished? Or where do you store your sketches?(((:
Alexander Devries
you can find nice 9" x 12" sketch books for $5 at walmart.... printer paper is fine, but if you want to keep your drawings together, printer paper isnt the best
Myra❤ I store them in folders. Honestly I like to hang up the good ones. So there's also that.
I had the same problem, but instead of using line paper i decided to draw digitaly, it helps a lot because you dont have to be afraid do waste pages.
Here's a tip. Take a stack if printer paper, cut it in half and bind it on the edge with glue. Water down the glue a tad and paint on layers to the edge so it looks like a book
Aw you're adorable! I am so specific on art youtubers and people but I like you!
Thank you :)
Brushes and Bunnies im drawing every day of the month as a new year resolution and went back to this as help, it has helped.
Your work is lovely and I see you are working hard to learn. I am a professional artist and took me ten years to find all the tricks that the best artists use for sketching, so I will tell you some:
Try to sketch with hard lead colored pencils going up in tones. You start with light blue then going to purple and finally maybe black. That allows you to over-sketch on top without using erasers. Verithin Prismacolor is a great product for that but any hard lead brand will do!
I also advise you to try col-erasel Prismacolor pencils because you can erase them and again the colors can help you going up in values as you decide the lines you keep. They are exactly for that purpose and the most professional artists use them.
Another tip is to simply sketch with pens and live with the lines. This type of sketching feels like freedom because will help your trace to just flow. Choose a cheap pen or choose micron pens. Any pen you love or feels smooth. I think this should be the first technique people use before even pencils.
For extra special tip you can buy a great quality mixed media journal and paint the background one color with acrylics then sketch with pens on top. Pens will love this background and they will feel super smooth as you trace your drawing.
❤ Last and best advice; after all that, you can go back to your pencils and for the eraser, clean it super easily with sand paper. They sell mini package sheets for sanding the pencils to keep them clean of wood and keep them sharp but they are amazing to clean your eraser while you sketch away. starrpoint.blogspot.com/2010/01/keep-your-pencils-sharp.html
saset sasha Thanks for the tips!
Of course reference photos are not cheating. You always have to have a reference unless you are creating fantasy creatures and even those will have to have correct animal anatomy. If you go outside and draw a tree that you see you are using a reference. A live model is still a reference. A still life is still a reference. Why people get the idea that using a reference is ''copying'' or ''cheating'' is baffling to me. Use some common sense. If using a reference is cheating then Rembrandt and all the other masters were nothing more than copiers. LOL. The only stuff that doesn't need a reference of some sort is the abstract stuff that also doesn't require any kind of talent. Stuff like Jackson Pollack's paintings. Get over it people, if you want it to look like something use a reference.
Agreed. I hate when people say that references aren't making you any better.
Exactly, and, correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure if you decide to take art as a subject in school don't they require you to use a reference when drawing?
To all the people that use reference photos (to everyone) how do you do to actually get better at drawing thanks to those?
I use reference photos but I feel like it doesn’t really help me when I try to redraw something similar without the reference later on. Will my third-drawing-eye open at some point and get used to simplifying lines and shapes or I might be doing smth wrong?
Anna Ël I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. For me, reference photos help with facial proportions and I look back through my sketchbook whenever I need help drawing something. A little tip could be to draw from a reference photo and then try and draw the same image but without the reference :)
Totally agreed, reference photos are not copying at all. They just help you! Unlike bases, if you use a base then thats not gonna help you improve.
I just finished my second sketchbook and for me, its so weird because I did not draw for two days. Usually I sketch every single day. And over the year its my routine. I love to draw in my sketchbook, its so crazy and colourful and it has lots of fails, but it doesnt matter, because later i will laugh about it and see how I (hopefully) improve. sry for my english ( I am still learning ( I am German)).
Your English is great! :) But sometimes a break from drawing every day is needed. So don't worry about missing some days.
I draw once 10 minutes😂😂i can't stay without drawing. I draw even in class, on the table, in my math notebook, on my hand, on my leg(if i have ripped jeans) in the books, on the book marks, just everywhere😂😂
I have a lot sketchbooks, not for different reason's, I just love a new sketchbook, so I end up buying a new one if I see one I like, whether I need it not... I certainly own more than I can fill in a reasonable amount of time LOL

I currently have problems at drawing and your video really helped my realize that I just need to loose up a bit. Thanks a lot! You're an incredible artist and a really adorable and energetic person. Keep going, you're helping a lot of people who just started taking art more serious.
This girl is SUCH an underrated artist.
Definitely multiple sketchbooks! I recently started a sketchbook where I put in some drawing ideas/topics on each page and its a life saver on days when I don't feel as motivated or days when I don't know what to draw!
Bunny just know its not cheating to use reference materials. When I was in art school we had a huge machine that enlarged or decrease our reference materials. They expected us to trace some things for learning. You are doing just fine. love your style girl!!
That picture before the intro I had to pause and be like

I used to tutor math and the first thing I taught on the first day with absolutely everyone.. STOP SAYING YOU SUCK AT MATH. Or in this case, stop saying you are bad at drawing or art or anatomy or ANYTHING. When you say something over and over, you will believe yourself and subconsciously do whatever to be right. (Your ego hates being wrong. ) Meaning you will be bad just to prove to yourself that you're bad.. crazy, huh? Start saying outloud to yourself "I'm a good artist and getting constantly improving." Say it to your cat. Your mailman. Your moms mechanic. And watch your art skills get better every day!
This is really helpful since I'm going back to drawing after so many years of not doing so. Right now I still can't sketch what's in my head but I found to be getting better in laying down the fundamentals by drawing more from life.
I just recently started my journey in the world of art ( three days and counting) I’m currently trying to learn shading I find it fun but I’m hoping to see some progress soon. Slowly but surely. Great video with some awesome tips! Much appreciated.
I actual am drawing in my sketchbook right now. it helps me learn and get more loose and fluid with my drawings.
I usually work on separate paper made for the media I''m using which ill work on and then after I've finished the piece, I stick it into a giant sketchbook, anoate it, sketch some stuff around it ect ect. If it's relevant to the piece i just did, worse in quality/just a quick doodle, i directly sketch it in my main sketchbook
I have a bunch of sketchbooks like this. One for alcohol based markers, one for watercolors, one for regular use, and a few small ones whenever I go out. I also have a sketchbook I call the “Book of Faces” to help with face constructions.
Your art has a wonderful aesthetic to it! Your style is extremely captivating, and it feels balanced between animation and realism. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing your daily sketching routine. Love your art.
I like to try to keep what I'm working on really organized too. I have also made a commitment to myself to draw everyday to get better and I have also seen a dramatic improvement in what I do as well. Great video.
I’ve always loved art and drawing ever since I was younger, but I’ve never really stuck to my goals of improving and I’ve been so bummed out about it because now I feel like it’s too late lol. But I’ve been filling the Inktober prompts for this year and now I want to really get back into art again - it’s been so, so fun coming up with just sketches, but a week in and I’m starting to get pessimistic again because my works aren’t that good. I think I really need to learn to forgive myself for not being good as you’ve put it haha! Thank you for sharing your experience and the tips! You’ve got yourself another subscriber :) I’ll be following you on IG to stalk as well lol. Thanks again for the vid!
I used to sketch during my lunch breaks and I got real good at drawing chairs from cafes and restaurants, lol. Then life just took over. I wanna get back to sketching and I’ll try some of your tips. Thanks!
Just when I was wondering how to fill my sketchbook xD
Love ya~
Thank you for this! I’ve always been into art but this year I’m really determined to take my interest further. This video has helped a lot! 💝
Your sketches, pens, papers, organisation, your looks, voice, presentation and videos, everything is amazing!
I just finished my first sketchbook and I’m really hoping to improve with daily routines
I have two sketchbooks lol... One is for practice, like I would draw whatever I want/ feel like as practice. For example, I would draw gestures, cars, animals, plants, doodles, etc... The other sketchbook is for finished drawings like watercolored and everything but sometimes it's a bit difficult for me to keep up with both but it's fine!
1:48 you are extremely correct!!! amen Gurl!!!
Lool Amen
In my sketchbook I just hang on without thinking and use what I just feel like. I'm also using body references but in time I learnt do draw them out of my head. I'm not really organized but it makes fun kinda :0
I love your artstyle
I used to organize my sketchbooks by what medium I was using but ever since I started numbering my sketchbooks I’m now organizing my sketchbooks by time (so I stay in one until it’s full).
Your advice really helped! Even i have this thing about focusing on detail and because of that when im sketching im only stressing out! I will try to use your tips
I have never had a routine and it's been hard cause I don't get much time to draw especially with school but I think I am going to try the routine idea and having multiple different sketch books
love this. was feeling lazy today. but now kinda motivated to draw again
When you sketch it gives me Satisfaction
I like your videos because they help me learn English and improve in drawing ❤
I try to sketch every day. References helps me a lot in drawing poses and hair/clothes styles, and even anatomy.
Wow. So inspiring. I sketch every morning, as for me I have one sketch pad that I fill up then get a new one. Thanks for sharing such valuable information.
Girl you need to teach me how to wear cute sweaters
I legit need more cute sweaters. What is life without them 😐
Brushes and Bunnies I have none ;^;
Is seokjin wat i see in ur username oooh ARMY
Put the sweater on that's it
Bobby Hempel
not so easy, you need to be cute yourself in order to do it properly
I always thought to be a good artist you had to just draw really good free hand without reference. It’s nice to know you can be good and use reference to practice and get better. Don’t have to be perfect ! I am still learning and sometimes get frustrated that I’m not THERE “yet” (where ever that is) I’m realizing it in the journey not the destination ♥️ And to KEEP going and practicing. Great vid ✨
There is no way someone like me could sketch something like your's! Those are incredible! That's talent and not learned!
Never been this early!! Love the video xxoxo
I have a few sketchbooks too. I have one where I'm just doing lion king fan art, because I'm trying to learn about their anatomy and facial features and how to draw them, and I wanted all the drawings in one place so that I can go back and hopefully see the progress I made. The other two sketchbooks I have are for the Udemy classes I take, one each.
Duh. I have two "main" sketchbooks. The first one is Canson Artbook One it already looks pretty bad, so I use it for swatches and experiments and wet techniques - the paper is only 100g/m2, so it doesn't take it well, but it's my "rubbish sketchbook" anyways.
The other one my favourite Winsor&Newton sketchbook 170g/m2. It's surface is supersmooth and white. It's perfect for traditional inks (both dye and pigment based) and I use it only for more ambitious projects. However it's only has 50 pages since the paper is so thick.
However I'd love to know what's the sketchbook you're using. I'm looking for something I could use for journaling. I prefer spiral bound sketchbooks with smooth paper (I use fountain pen for writing, so otherwise it feathers) that can take one or two washes of water for watercolour pencils (130g/m2 and up are ok, really). Could you recomend anything?
It fits you perfectly it makes you look really beautiful
I took human anatomy and physiology and no wonder, human anatomy wasn’t that hard for me. I ended thinking of medical illustration career at that time, but I broke my dreams for there are not lots of programs for that. I gave up on drawing, but every time I am in class, I draw and doodle. For some reason, my friend gave me a sketch book because he saw I had skill and told me to practice more. I didn’t think much about it, but I was in Pinterest app and gave me curiosity to check art once again and I miss it. I want to draw once again. Drawing humans is so cool. 🌷 watching videos like this gives me more ideas.. thank you. 🌷🌷
Thanks for sharing! I'm a Colourist for years but still just nice branching into drawing and it's a whole new and exciting world.
You're work is AWESOME! It's really cool to see someone else has the ocd sketchbook collection like I do already lol, can't imagine what's gonna happen when I actually get good. Have a GREAT HOLIDAY!!!!
You're so good! Thanks for this video.
Thanks for making this video...I really don't feel motivated when I'm in the middle of drawing something...I feel like giving up..but this video really taught me so much😘😘😘
I have several sketchbooks some of them i scribble on or use them when i am drawing something for the first time and when i get it right I draw on my main sketchbook
I am doing the exercises! I started with like the base were you like draw clothes on top type of thing but I have a sketch book with eight pages so I will see my progress.
I have started doing this and i have gotten sooooooo much more better thank you soo much 😃😃😃😃🤗🤗🤗
You are so lucky to have the internet to get reference photos. Back in the day....we had to get them from magazines and newspapers, Or actually take our own photos; get a filing cabinet and folders, and do a lot of filing. Now, with computers, that job has been made so much easier.
it is so satisfying to watch your vids
I’m starting to draw like you all because of you thank you so much for this tip
This will help those you love to draw.
Ah I was really not satisfied with my art but after watching your video I am happy and also I have a bad habit that I never be able to manage my sketch book at first I make every sketch book for every purpose and after I do all of them in one sketch book idk why
Love this! It’s such an inspiration
Hi. Thank you for all the amazing tips and advice this helps a lot thank you have a great day and a very merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you too :)
Yep! I have one sketchbook I sketch deep depressing drawings when I’m depressed and another one where I draw faces of actors, singers with colored pencil when I’m working on my Instagram or CZcams :) I’m pretty messy tho and I started school so kind of stepped back from art a little
you helped me get y art passion back
THANL YOU
your voice was really relaxing to me! I was able to loosen up because of it! Thank you for the awesome tips! 💗
Thank you for the tips! I'll definitely apply these in my sketching life! Especially, the letting loose one, I should stop being a perfectionist lol.
And I don't know if I'm the only one at this but I find drawing easier if I make my own sketchbook out of recycled materials like used papers and illustration boards that were used in school projects, rather than buying one. It feels good to recycle, and I let loose much more than I do at store bought sketchbooks. (I still stress over my drawings though;;) I don't ink nor really color my drawings so I don't need to worry about anything seeping through. And if I do color my sketches, I use the colored pencils that my older sister doesn't use anymore so, all I need to worry about is not to draw and color back to back.
I picked up a pencil to draw for the first time in 50 or so years a few weeks ago and im learning. i like the idea of books for each style im basically rubbish but im getting better at drawing rubbish my main thing is finding things to draw that i can draw and interest me
anyway thanks for the ideas and ill try the routine
I'm new to drawing daily. I like to sketch faces and horses
Every Nice tips, thank you great tips
Love it!
LOOOOVE your hoodie!!!
So i ordered three a5 sketchbooks because i want to finally start with one and finish it. From august 2021 to august 2022 to see if i can do that and how i improved 😊
New subscriber, really enjoyed this video. I used to do zen tangles alot but I was to learn to sketch/draw animals and maybe people.
This actually really inspired me to try new things :) Thank you! ♥
I really enjoyed the video. Thank you. i was especially listening for your thinking about how you choose what to do in which sketchbook, etc. I am sketchbook obsessed (having them... just learning to use them). I'm primarily a painter, so I have sketchbooks with reference photos, color studies from them, and then I keep it beside me to test mixed colors as I paint. I haven't done very much drawing, and I know I need to. So thanks again. Helpful on a number of levels. New sub. :)
I have decide to go back into drawing since I left it at the age of 7! This will really help me out Bun!
I have three differently sized sketchbooks (not including my homework papers), but I use them differently depending on how large or small I want to draw.
Amazing!
I have one sketchbook for so called "more inappropriate" art. That's the sketchbook that not a lot of people that know me know about. 🎨But the other sketchbooks don't really have a theme. I don't only use it as a sketchbook. ✏️I also put pictures, brochures, business cards and prints from other artists in it or I ask friends if they wanna draw something in it. 👨🎨It's a lot of fun 😊👩🎨
Thank you so much for this video, haven’t been embracing my art as much as I used too :)
Thanks so much Bunny bcoz of u I made my own drawing routine. Also I checked the references from devian art
*Really good video ans tips. Thank you :)*
i have a 'sketch book' just for pencils and maybe pens, but it's gigantic so i use it for whatever as long as it doesn't ruin the paper, i have a smaller mix media one which i use for mostly pencil/colored pencils, and 3 watercolor ones, which of course are for watercolors, then i have a black paper one which is mostly for pencil or pen
I have soooo many sketchbooks, one for the car, one for my purse, one for bed, one of all finished drawings/paintings/etc, one for daily doodles and many more...
I hold the pencil in a death grip like 80% of the time gaaaah. Trying hard to loosen it up!
Very sweet video, nice and positive in its encouragment! ❤👏
Brushes and bunnies 🐰 you are so helpful on all your sketching vids. They help me so much. And you art is beautiful. Love ya ❤️
Thank you for this video. It helps out so much
You def are one of the most helpful artists on youtube
Love the way you drawing.make it so easy.
Your advice is really helpful and your sketch is good as well. I barely sketch because I have homework and I play video games a lot but I do sketch at school. 😃
Tip for ideas!!! Take a jar and just write names of random items or actions on them. When you have no ideas just take two random pieces of paper and ship the words to create something interesting😂
I got popchair and I drew and pop socket on a phone with a chair on top of the pop socket for my fingers to sit on (if you get the picture)
I have never seen art instruction where someone drew the nose as a diamond shape with nostrils around it! I am going to try that immediately! Thanks!😊
I have a big problem :|
I DONT SKETCH... I JUMP RIGHT IN TO THE MASTERPIECE... NO WONDER I ALWAYS FEEL UNSATISFIED.
Sameee
I have looooots of sketchbooks! But I like to, you know, chaotically mix everything with everything, so that my sketchbooks kinda spicen themselves. Except for that one sketchbook where I did Inktober2017. But not because it was meant to be for the Inktober. Just because I was carrying it in my bag everyday and didn't saw a reason to change it.
Btw YES what a lovely hoody awww!
I had a bad habit of starting to draw in a new sketchbook without finishing the last one, so I swapper my sketchbooks with drawing sheets I usually buy 5A4 drawing sheets which cost me only 1 dollar in and used to draw on those 5 sheets and it's my daily routine, in the end of the year when I pile up them they were more than 12 sketchbooks, so if someone had same problem try this thing.
This is very helpful. I'm getting better at not stressing about my sketches.
