You actually don't have to fight El Bailador in No Mercy. There are a multiple rooms where encounters will appear, like the sandstorm rooms after turning the sandstorm off, that will allow you to grind to the point where El Bailador will not show up.
The game taught me to kill 3 encounters per room it can be encountered on and then made me miss the fight...
it's a good idea to though, you get one extra LV which makes the Ceroba fight a whole lot easier
Decibat can also be fought on geno, just go fight him before clearing out rooms, missing out on mini bosses leaves you under leveled
@@No.1RatedSalesman Of course, besides Decibat and El Bailador, there _aren't_ any mini bosses in Geno.
"But what about the Feisty Five?"
What Feisty Five? You're explicitly warned not to advance far past El Bailador unless you want to void your run, and they don't show up until later in Pacifist... so they aren't _going_ to show up.
"But... the Flowerbot!"
Unfortunately, Axis is extremely proactive in warning as many bots as he can about you, to the point where it's implied that even on a Genocide run, some still escape... and we see him warn Flowerbot when we get there.
@@ShadwSonic what???
Fun little bug i learned.
If you die with Golden Cactus active, it stays active when you retry the fight. That little extra bit of healing helped a lot
Same with golden coffee
Note: the hp act was meant to be in zenith martlets boss fight from the start, it just bugged out
One of the devs said they planned to add it, then removed it last minute because they were "feeling evil", then added it back in after everyone ended up sucking at the zenith fight lol. though apparently they left the button in the original release without the text, so you can choose it from the act menu, but it does nothing. allegedly. apparently.

Regarding encounter cap
You have to reach it in every room with random encounter till you get certain message instead of typical encounter. Based on Flowey's dialog what counts is number of defeated monsters.
Also it's possible you have to reach the cap in each room in order. In my run I had to replay entire snowdin and steamworks sections because I missed encounters in 1 room.
Fun fact: El Bailador's fight in genocide run can be skipped if you reach required kill count before his fight.
You can as well do the same for the bat I think.
Though I think it's better to kill them on genocide due to the extra exp they give when killed. I was level 11 when I killed them both so it's better to kill them
@@chillydabest4231 You'll always be level 11 by the ceroba fight as long as you exhaust all the encounters and the game will warn you that there are still enemies to kill if you try going to ceroba before killing everything. The slight extra exp from decibat and el bailador don't matter at all.
Ok thanks for clarifying that- just saw some people fighting Ceroba at level 10 and thought I got lucky or smth

As a huge Pokémon fan and Undertale fan, I absolutely love your content and choice of Pokémon music at certain points in the video. I beat Martlet before the patch, but I did have to reset the game to get the gunpowder item and golden pear, since I heard it was really good, but I DID have to use the auto-fire. I feel ya, though beating her without auto-fire is dang impressive!!
Btw there is a completely different neutral route if you don't know!
Wait.... your telling me... that the white droplet looking things right before the steamworks.... wasnt random bird poop? And was friendliness pellets? I genuinely avoided it not even questioning it......
No wonder i struggled so hard and gave up on the final boss.... I HAD A WEAKER AMMO.

You missed the best ammo in the game 😭
@@zeussoulhd2169 I really did 💀
@@zeussoulhd2169 I didn't have the best armour either.
One tip for yall, the best armor in the genocide path is the golden bandana. You get it the same as any other route, however, you don't fight macro froggit. It's the same as easy mode, and helps a lot seeing how easy mode doesn't work with the special genocide bosses. Only downside is that you can only get it after Ceroba, so you still need to kill her.
I've enjoyed both routes to their fullest on multiple occasions, in tears on both, but when it comes to zenith martlet on 1.0.0... I didn't expect an entire day, dawn to dusk, and 2 pages of notes to be a requirement to win.
As someone who beat Zenith Martlet on the old version, I pretty much did the same thing of reseting (and did neutral 1st) and then doing things with new items, either way, I dont blame you, its a hard ass fight.
Understatement
Haven’t seen anyone mention this: During Ceroba’s second phase in her genocide battle, the walls of the battle box will become dangerous and deplete your max HP if you brush against them, like her red attacks.

Oh yeah, you also didn't talk about the best part of this run...
Mo has the best lines in the entire game in this route.
I really feel like a good chunk of Undertale Yellow's battles just weren't playtested at all. They were absolutely INFURIATING to try and play through.
I feel like each attack was tested individually, in a vacuum, with full health and gear. "yeah we can pretty easily survive each of their attacks so this boss is fair." I am also CERTAIN that some of Ceroba's and Martlet's attacks have a bigger hit box than their bullets show
All of Martlet's hitboxes are fine size wise. Her claw swipes linger for a bit at the bottom of them, and you take damage from the glass if you're touching the border at all, regardless of if they're crushing you or not. The dash also ends early if it hits a wall, which is why it feels jank sometimes, and why it doesn't work when you push it at the same time as her wings pushing you down in the trash attack.
Ceroba's are also fine. The colored circles can be a bit jank sometimes if you're far away and at a corner. That's about the only thing that comes to mind with her.
The dash has a varying duration, by the way. It depends how long you hold the button. They really should tell you to hold the button instead of press the button. They did it because it makes the dash more "forgiving" by letting you end the dash early if you started late and get it ready for the next thing you need to dodge.
Only really felt this way on Ceroba (I'm not doing the genocide route because it looks like hell) I forgot about the dash mechanic until the final phase. So I'm left confused the whole entire time why the devs put in the circle attack if I can't counter it. But then I remembered the dash and I was fine.
Eh. Except the final fight I personally only went down like 8-10 times to Ceroba and max 5 times to first martlet. Other than that it was a breeze.
Either that or the playtesters were absolutely cracked when they played
The final boss for genocide was pretty hard and i couldnt make it to phase 2 with any healing items
Thankfuly in the [ACT] menu theres a new option
Endure
It heals a small but good enough amount of hp
Around 20
I reallt sucked at the fight but it was far too fun for me to care
It's impossible in two ways. There's the mental struggle of watching, hearing, and seeing these monsters transform in front of you as you mercilessly slaughter, blast, and strike back at all of monsterkind for the death of six souls.
Then there's the physical struggle when you get dropped into Ceroba's first attack (emblematic of sans' first attack during the time where you'd normally be at Undying) and the entirety of Zenith before the Endure update
It took me around 6 hours of fighting Martlet genocide alone to beat it, I had beaten it before the patch had dropped, It felt so satisfying to watch that bird melt
I also only had 1 Floral Cupcake, didn't have gunpowder, and had 2 35 hp healing and the rest was 20 hp :)
What does gunpowder do?? when i used it, i choked on it
@@OfficialMinecrafter0986 its like instant noodles in Undertale Genocide
So you DID beat her at her best.
The only nerf was healing act. You didn't use it. You beat her at her best. Congrats.
I can confirm that you do NOT have to exhaust the max amount of enemy encounters in _every_ room. It's actually possible to skip the fight with the Dance guy entirely if you hit the cap of the Wild East zone before reaching him.
However, the amount of leeway in the Steamworks is incredibly small, so for that zone, it's best to be thorough... especially since you can easily ruin your run here without knowing it. Yeah, despite not granting XP, those robots are still necessary.
As for the final boss of this run, hoo boy. For every other event in the game, from every run, I was able to complete them without using any healing items whatsoever... but _this_ bird needed two 50HP and 8 30HP items to squeak by!
On the other hand... I had the old version, so no ACT-based healing for me here... which, come to think of it, I _did_ have to abuse in Pacifist Ceroba...
Meh, like I said, I wasn't using items there.
it appears to me that in most areas you can afford missing one room, but for efficiency you should clear a spawn area out when found immediately.
The difficulty in this route does feel unfair but it's beatable even for an average guy if they are willing to dedicate four hours for each major fight while also having the optimal healing items.
beat ceroba in one and martlet in three as that damn bird is basically two bosses.
Yeah I don’t like the Genocide run because… I really love the monsters here in Undertale Yellow; they’re cute, they’re cuddly, they’re fun, some are sexy, all of that. So going in a killing spree to murder all the monsters would be a terrible thing to do, especially if Martlet calls you out for it. Nevertheless, nothing bad happens on Clover’s end compared to Frisk in Classic Undertale’s Genocide run as Clover could complete their mission as they wanted to in the start.

When in doubt, DASH LIKE A MADMAN. It works better than one would think
I fought Marlet on the old update with bad items as well, and because of this it took me an entire hour to beat it, whereas I had beat all the other genocide bosses on my first try, it was insanity because I had to restart faze 1 just so that I could save more of my items for faze 2

Well it was pretty hard but after beating it after maybe 8 hours I can say that it's not close to impossible. Pretty hard but not impossible
The dash makes the whole difference, I believe.
While Sans' attacks are unforgiving with the KR, they can be memorized.
Martlet's attacks have a set damage output, but they come in really fast, and some of them just home on you (the claws and most of the feather attacks); the dash is what makes the battle JUST a bit easier than Sans (ignoring the fact of checkpoint on the phase 2 and the Endure of course).
@deadchannel7895 yeah lol I just spammed dash and prayed, I barely got better at the actual fight
Great job beating Martlet! She was practically impossible on 1.0 (looking at you, 11 dmg claws >:| ), but it was extremely rewarding to learn the strats and even share them with others at the time!
And to everyone playing the most current patch, there's no shame in that at all. Beating Martlet's fight is still quite the accomplishment :)
The reason the wind attack seems so hard is because you can only dash diagonally effectively. No idea why you can’t do it left or right.
I downloaded Undertale yellow a little after its release and... forgot about it lmao. after i returned, i played Vengeance route and now im like "wait what Martlet has a healing act in new patches? oh come on..."
Im actually did not pass through the first phase. its just too hard for me. Shrapnel feathers, claws that take a very strict timing to dash, and much, much very hard attack patterns. So i finished vengeance route playthrough on CZcams, and i guess many of people too.
My favourite part about geno is that every boss theme after martlet has the Enemy Retreating motif
pretty much every video I have seen talking about undertale yellow that isnt just a playthrough has a "I wasn't planning on spending this long talking about music" moment
You can actually catch up to axis in the chase scene but it doesn't do anything sadly (I managed to first try and tried to interact with him but couldn't)
Dude its funny bc i also have the same thing w martlet where i had really bad healing items😭 but i also got the golden bandana on my way there bc it helps sm. It basically halves her damage so i didnt have to heal as much!!
Expected an essay, got the most epic comeback
Clover casusally exterminating the entire race of Monsters and then thinking it's justice.
That trasition at the ending has "Yay! Murder! :D" energy.
I still love that in my genocide Martlet fight, the first time I got through the first phase I only had a pile of Gunpowder as a healing item. Getting through that difficult ass phase with what essentially were two health bars and a dream felt so fucking good
I had to reset my genocide attempt too. However, I was stubborn and refused to update and instead decked myself out with the best gun and armor in the game (Silver Bullets and Golden Bandana).
remember those edgy sans fangames with attacks that are impossible to dodge?
WELL THEY ARE BACK IN FORM OF A BIRD
Not genocide it's revenge route. Underground left to suffer, but we complete out mission to freed souls
8:52 i love asrigore
you should play neutral, it has a really cool final boss
When i fought martlet it took me over 4 hours of nonstop attempts, it was before the patch, so i did the whole second phase without healing, it was painful, but i got through it
It took me 6 hour and i made sure to keep gunpowder for second phase. Pain but still love that fight design and ost
Axis: It broke my heart to kill that human
Clover: What?
Axis: No, now alright, I know that sounds bad- *gets Clover blasted*
For the ceroba fight i missed the flint ammo and the steel buckle so that was fun
fun fact, for Clover to actually win the duel, you have to be shooting Starlo ahead of time because the second the duel actually starts(when the sound is made), Starlo immediately shoots, fortunately for clover, Starlo can't bring themselves to shoot clover with real bullets, so either way Starlo has no battle in genocide
This is the best video describing my past 4 days of my life.

Genocide Ceroba and Zenith Martlet become significantly easier if you pick up the Golden Cactus and perform a cycle of using it and dying to some NPC about 50 times (with auto-retry enabled). The counter of turns it's active for doesn't reset after you die so you get 99 turns of automatic 15 HP healing. They are still hard, but much more manageable that way. Some would call it cheating, but it's not like these fights are very fair in the first place.
Me playing undertale yellow genocide: *insert billions and billions of deaths to martlet ceroba and axis (haven't made it to zenith martlet yet)*
i've actually played through undertale yellows genocide route, i did beat martlet, but FUCKING HELL, IT TOOK ME LIKE 4 DAYS, AND THE SECOND PHASE WAS SO MUCH WORSE, martlet is still my favourite character, but the fact that i couldn't just quit without having to restart the whole fight meant i had to finish phase 2 right after phase 1 in the same day, it took me 5 hours to finally beat phase 2, and it's safe to say i'm not gonna play through genocide again, or the game ever again, (i'm not particularly interested with fighting that flowey boss, but i'm sure it's still easier then Geno martlet)
The SuperMartlet fight is so bs. I had to beat phase 1 with somehow having saved the Gunpowder (which heals 99HP for those who don't know), and my save had essentially a bunch of 20, 25, or 30HP restore items and the Gunpowder, and 2x 50HP cupcakes, and it was hard to reach the 2nd phase without using the Gunpowder.
That fight just doesn't actually let the player learn how to dodge attacks at all, specifically the Star attack and the claw attack. Just felt like i got lucky when it came to those stupid claws, and the stars i just had to use invis frames to get through
You dont need to drain every room to do genocide
NGL, this geno makes perfect sense if its a post neutral version, like, hell, it makes sense with the whole Flowey taking Clover's soul, I mean, he just gets access to his own memory after the neutral route and gets traumatized for flowey, so he just kills everyone so an Omega Flowey never happens again
I had to pause in the middle because I haven’t beaten Ceroba yet, but man, this is no joke. A lot harder than Undyne/Sans imo.
i gave up at the wild west area after i got the new gun, cant even figure out how it works
Relatable
Fun fact: Mo is the only character that Clover spares in the genocide route.
When Clover meets Mo in steamworks, he immediately holds him at gunpoint. Mo pleads with Clover to let him go and he won't ever bother him again.
And then you are given a choice to rob Mo of his money or simply let him go. Either way, Mo is spared.
