  • Not a crazy adventure, but one nonetheless. Had fun tackling about 6” of snow and some ice in my new stock Trail Rated vehicle. I tried 2-wheel drive (2wd) mode, 4x4 locked (4wd) mode, and Snow Mode.

    For Only a 10min Video, It's Quite Possibly The Best Yet For P.O.V. Driving in the Snow Video I've Seen!!!

    Too bad I can't share any photos of what my Jeep Renegade Latitude went through. During the First Day Of Spring Blizzard on March 20th here in Staten Island, New York (one of the five boroughs of NYC), the local Sanitation Crews did not plow the back roads at all (they hit it probably once and then forgot about it). Depending on which part of Staten Island you go to, there are some pretty good hilly areas and slight inclines and those are the roads no one uses during Snow Storms. I put the thing in Snow Mode for the entire Two Miles of Road I had to navigate and it did damn well (even at 20mph it ate the snow like it was breakfast).

    Been thinking about getting a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk myself as a second vehicle so I can get around in winter/use for other practical things. It seems like a good little SUV.

      I bought it because my wife liked the way it looked, but it turned out to be a pretty cool vehicle. It’s definitely capable, has an unique look, and can come with some great options. I really like it.

      I've had two Renegades, (I lease), and have a Hypergreen Trailhawk. I've had CJ's and Liberty and this is nearly as capable as any CJ, J series I've driven. I didn't think the all season tires would be sufficient in winter or off road, ( oh yes, I've been deep off road with this Trailhawk, running by myself, and come out the other end in one piece.) very capable vehicle.

      @@robertren23 Meanwhile, I live in the snow capital of the U.S. and for reliability, the Renegade has been at least as reliable as any vehicle I've owned and as capable as any other Jeep I've had.

      David Turnbole I believe you, I actually live in Valdez, AK and I know for sure they are reliable for snow and offloading I just meant Jeep in general I've seen alot of jeeps that are unreliable but I never knew about the renegade

    Snow mode in the Renegade definitely reduces throttle and steering response. I like the feel of snow mode. Also, the non-TH models (automatics) in snow mode will start in 2nd gear like the TH normally does. My Latitude has been a tank in the snow.

      It’s an amazing mode. Right after I stopped filming I pulled over for the pics you see at the end of the video and tried to pull out just using front-wheel drive and went nowhere. So, I hit “4wd lock” and it at least moved, but I was still stuck. So, then I hit “Snow Mode” and it pulled me right out.

      @OffroadNow  Před 6 lety +2

      Unless you activate the “4wd lock” or select one of the modes (snow, sand, mud, or rock) the car can just be in front wheel drive (2wd)

    • @jutrotisto
      @jutrotisto Před 6 lety

      Games&Gears. Wrong. You should do homework on th drivetrain. What helps deep revue, when you dont know automode. On this surface probably you didnt make 10 feet in 2wd.

    • @OffroadNow
      @OffroadNow  Před 6 lety +4

      I don’t think you listened to what I said/wrote. I’m not disagreeing with you. Just like in the video, I’m not saying I’m in “two-wheel drive mode only.” When I mention it in the video, I’m saying it’s cool how the Jeep, even when not locked to 4x4, is capable... but there were parts I had to use 4wd lock to guarantee traction. I was simply differentiating between the two drive settings.
      Perhaps I could have been more clear, but what I said still stands. You’re subject to only 2-wheel-drive and have to trust the system to switch you to 4x4 mode, unless you use “4x4 lock.”

    • @ericwilmot857
      @ericwilmot857 Před 5 lety +2

      Most of the time it would be in 2wd mode. When the jeep detects slipping itll automatically engage 4x4 or if you hit the 4x4 button
