    When testing for cations do u fucus but on the Na+\Cl-

    Please sir when you add NaOH or NH3 to a solution what is forming the white ppt?

    • @Mr.Kunguchemistry
      @Mr.Kunguchemistry  Před 3 lety +1

      Both NaOH or NH3 solutions contain hydroxide ions.The ions react with cations forming insoluble hydroxides(precipitate) .

    And how would u now mk and analysis from that please sir when u add something like NaCl solution are u looking at the cation that is Na+ or the anion Cl-??

    • @Mr.Kunguchemistry
      @Mr.Kunguchemistry  Před 3 lety

      All sodium salts are soluble. Adding NaCl ,you look at Cl-. Can precipitate Pb2+ and Ag+

  • @belaachie1244

    And then for anions do u focus on the one carrying the negativity charge or positive charge?

  • @belaachie1244
    @belaachie1244 Před 3 lety

    So sir when u add something like Pb nitrate to an unknown solution and a white ppt formed what do u think of?

    • @belaachie1244
      @belaachie1244 Před 3 lety

      Will u think of and anion or cation

    • @belaachie1244
      @belaachie1244 Před 3 lety

      Is it lead or nitrate that is reacting in solution to form the white ppt?

    • @Mr.Kunguchemistry
      @Mr.Kunguchemistry  Před 3 lety

      Nitrates cannot form a pot because all nitrates are soluble. Pb2+ can form a precipitate with Cl-,SO4 2-,CO3 2- & SO4 2-

      in such a case you think about the salts of Pb that are insoluble eg PbX where X is the anion that will make the PbX to be insoluble
