I visited the Sagrada Familia the first time I left the USA and went on a European vacation, I was in college. I was in awe a truly a work of art. My teenage daughter will be going to European (high school trip) in March 2015. She is looking forward to La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. We are making plans, as a family, to visit the Basilica when it is completed in 2026. Some people do not like the Sagrada Familia …. well…many people did not liked the Eifel Tower when it was in construction. Salutation from California, USA!

before this video i was always angry that people think that La Sagrada Familia could rival st Peters the basilica but the story and details and the time and effort put into this piece of art is incredible

thank you very much for sharing this fantastic video!! My students are doing a project in Gaudi´s buildings and they´re using part of this videos to learn about their city. They´re really enjoying discovering these wonderful buildings and at the same time learning English! I wish you the best day!

I must watch this again because I am so fascinated with the works of artist Gaudi. This cathedral has many icons to nature. It looks so different to any others. Don't know about that 'modern art window glass, somehow inappropriate in a church, no? There is an article in a National Geographic mag about the Sagrada Familia, with illustrations...

menakjubkan......terlalu cantik dan struktur teliti, jelas dibina dengan penuh kasih sayang, waktu pagi sinaran matahari menyuluhi dengan warna biru hijau, dan di waktu petang dengan sinaran merah jingga...sungguh indah

Size isn't everything. In fact that really doesn't matter much when referring to a great cathedral. It's the artistry that counts.

I am so glad to see that I am not the only one that thinks this church looks scary. I'm sorry, but looking at this church - brings nothing but doom and gloom feelings to me. I'll go even further and say this church is down right hideous - and a little mysterious to me that the "artist" didn't get to finish it. Looks like something more of a Syfi movie or even as a mockery. Don't care to visit this place at all.

tones kentkorn A scary building? What's going on in your mind that you find a building scary?
It's a cathedral - more properly a minor basilica - a Catholic church - unfinished since 1882 - mainly due to lack of money.
When you turn the street corner and see it for the first time it takes your breath away - and the amazement grows as you get to look around the inside.
It's a UNESCO World Heritage site but because it's so unusual people do not agree about the look of it - George Orwell called it the one of the most hideous buildings in the world.Others strange - pretentious and vulgar.
It attracts over 2 million visitors per year.
See your therapist - discuss your fear of buildings.
