  • Bonjour,
    We're super busy with building works at the moment and are making so much progress! I hope to share an update on the renovations of our farmhouse soon!
    My parents came to visit from the Netherlands and we decided to go to the beautiful city of Dijon. You can take a walk in the city center passing the most beautiful buildings and sites to see. We had never done that before! Of course I am taking you with me. Let me know what you think!
    Thank you for being here and for your support!
    Love,
    Marloes

    Marloes. That was spectacular! I know your parents loved it. I don’t get to see architecture like that in southern Arizona. I was over the moon. Your graciousness for filming it for the rest of us demonstrates what a wonderful spirit you have. You’re wonderful. Thanks for filling my head with all these dreamy images!

    One of the most splendid of France's great regional capitals. Seeing the arches and tympana of Nôtre Dame defaced either by iconoclasts during the Reformation or the French Revolution reminds us that destructive iconoclasm has many causes and can break out at any time. Some of it comes from government itself and real estate developers now. The center of Dijon used to be protected by a status called secteur sauvgardé. Macron has weakened that protection and shows many signs of ill intent towards France's historic patrimony.

      Wow, this information is so intriguing. There are so many symbolic meanings in all the details in the buildings, it’s like stories being told. I agree it is such a shame if it would get lost!

    Two things about France that astound me....the number of statues/sculptures throughout the city (Paris+) and all of the outdoor markets, well-stocked and varied with products, everywhere. Not so in the usa. Well done video. Hope your parents enjoyed their visit.

    I’m so happy and grateful to have discovered you and have been watching all of your videos on repeat. I think you do a splendid job sharing your life with us. You resonated with me because my daughter and her partner have an Ayurvedic retreat in the mountains here in Northern California and like your family, is constantly building, tending the herb and vegetable garden, cooking and cleaning for their guests. It is constant work of guests, and also the land requirements to keep their place running. It so parallels what you are doing. She also like you enjoys the process-so I do enjoy watching you and wish you well. The history of the cities you visit and the stunningly beautiful countryside are so pleasurable to see.
    Thank you to you and your family.

    Really lovely! Thank you for taking us along. Loved the tapestry. Was that a reproduction of the original from the 1500's or the original? So wonderful to be able to pop into the car and see these places. It's a long way from snowy New Hampshire in the US. Thank you again.

    • @FrenchCountryLife
      @FrenchCountryLife  Před rokem

      I actually studied French literature in university and worked for a French company for some time, so I already spoke French when we moved here 4 years ago. My husband really manages pretty well, he learned the language from living here, french friends and working with local builders.
