I almost always assume that the milk teas are never vegan. Although they may say non-dairy/dairy-free.
Most people just aren't very educated on the topic and don't look at their ingredients. 99% of the time
the creamers are lactose-free but non-vegan. People usually label them as non-dairy because they are
devoid of lactose through processing. But the creamers usually contain caseinate, which is a milk derivative.
So if you want to avoid dairy derived milk teas it's kind of hard at boba places. But you can always ask
if they have the ingredients list for their creamer and check..

Boba shops tend to use dairy free and lactose free somewhat interchangeably. Some use Lactaid (lactose free milk) but I think most commonly, a "dairy free" powder. This contains caseins / caseinates though which is derived from milk. So altogether, they're using some form of milk product unless they specifically carry a soy/nut alternative.
Vegan cheese that I buy when I’m on vacation in LA is Chao and Follow Your Heart slices :)
And yes, dairy free is without milk from a cow, but if a product is dairy free it could have other ingredients that’s not vegan, like honey or eggs etc.
Back to the cheese haha, haven’t tried dayia slices, but the pizza and cheese cake is amazing! Dayia had a stand on a vegan “festival” and I tried it there, and now that I’m on vacation in LA I eat it 👏🏽

Also I never assume anything with people, I always make sure there is no dairy. Like with my veggie burgers...I'll ask for no dairy or eggs (mayo) so I won't get cheese on it but the buns contain milk...so yeah always ask if you definitely want to avoid anything haha.

in response to your dairy question! I work at a boba shop and we tell our customers that we use non-dairy creamer (which is normal across many boba shops). we use coffeemate creamer, the basic tan container with a red pump/ lid. we personally use it in the powder form and make the creamer. it does say it has a "milk derivative" but it also says non-dairy, non-lactose. I always just suggest something without the creamer too if someone is really concerned about it. but us bobaristas do our best lol
Hey girl! Just a quick tip:
I’m on strong medication for my acne also and my main symptom is dry lips too. After a lot of research, I learned that after applying any lip products, try not to rub your lips together (it creates tiny cuts or continuously keeps your lips chapped)
If you do this, then you won’t have to keep reapplying.
For example, if you apply a thick layer before sleeping, when you wake up your lips are very moisturized/hydrated!
This little tip has helped me sooo much, I hope it works for you!!
Ps I’m a long time viewer yet rarely comment, but I love y’all! Such genuine and fun vlogs
weylie! i'm on accutane right now and my dermatologist has sworn by aquaphor for chapped lips! accutane is super drying but aquaphor really does the trick. it doesn't smell like anything so it's not like the most glamorous lip balm but it really get the job done!!

Use CHAO cheese!! It’s tomato based with cayenne peppers. They also have a variety of other cheeses. It’s amazing!

ON DAIRY FREE...Weylie, when I was a child I had a dairy allergy, so I had to drink soymilk. (that's all they had besides goat milk back in '59.) Nowadays, there are lots of alternatives, mostly from grains or nuts. Grain and seed alternatives are from hemp, oat, flax, soy. Tree nut milks are macadamia, almond, cashew, coconut. You can make them yourself (lots of youtube food or vegan vloggers have done tutorials.) or buy them, I am sure out in California you have everything. That Daiso cheese is usually made from Cashew milks, but many more are available. If people suffer from tree nut allergies and some finished product (say like a pizza or cheesecake) is there, they will list a warning on the package. Vegan cheese in packages (like "alternative" mozzarella, for instance) is kind of plasticky in it's mouthfeel, and it melts like that, because you do not have the milk proteins reacting like seed/nut/grain milks do. It's kind of like having a gluten free, dairy free pizza, you can get used to it if you have allergies or are a vegan, but again, it's not the same as the pizza you remembered from your old self. You get used to it, though. Almond milk creamer in my coffees are fine now, I don't even notice the difference. (I don't put milks in my tea exceptin' chai.) If you have any questions, ask. So actually lip balms/butters aren't made to repair the skin on your lips, so when you have dry or cracked lips throwing layers of balms won't do anything because the skin is already injured. But, if you use a scrub, (I personally recommend sugar scrubs & Lush has a really good one, the original peppermint) before you apply the balm, the scrub actually removes the dead/cracked skin and then the balm acts as a protectant for the new raw skin underneath. It should help immensely with overall dryness as well if you use it in your everyday routine!
Hey Weylie, the KeepCup lid can actually turn into a boba straw cap. I just take off the turning tab and the pivot area is a round hole that's a little bigger than a boba straw!

Lactose free = able to eat goat cheese
as lactose is found only in the whey of milk, however, goats milk have lesser content of lactose and most of the whey is removed when cheese is made (from what i’ve learnt in school)
Dairy products, milk products or lacticinia are a type of food produced from or containing the milk of mammals, primarily cattle, water buffaloes, goats, sheep, camels, and humans. Eggs, however, are not dairy.

and actually the paper cups probably aren't any better than plastic cups since they have a thin plastic lining on the inside that prevents the liquid from soaking into the paper, which makes them non-recyclable :/
When you were talking about the Daiya brand of vegan cheeses!!! I actually tried their cream cheese yesterday morning for the first time and omg it was so delicious. It was on a bagel so I made sure to try it alone too, and even then it was so good. I'd at least highly recommend the cream cheese, but I'm excited to try their other stuff since I'm assuming it's just as good !!!
