    Been working with resin for years and finally someone is gracious enough to share the finishing process. THANKS - I typed out the steps with items you need to pick up:
    AA 150 sandpaper
    240 sandpaper
    C 800 grit sandpaper wet with water and dish soap
    P 1000 grit sandpaper wet with water and dish soap
    Turtle Wax Rubbing compound
    Turtle Wax Polishing compound

    You are right to the point, no beating around the B******* bush, Iv’e looked at like 10 vids and they all did the same mistakes, no info on what they are doing or why, no description of materials for whatever reason or even show how to do the job.
    A video I watched before this one claimed to show how to polish resin, NOPE, legit just some guy talking about his rotary tool without using it.
    You showed everything required in stages, no cuts, how is that so difficult for those other fools, thank you so much!

    I saw another video on resin that had a very short polishing part, where they showed four separate numbers down in the corner, but didn't explain what they were for, and it was sped up. This is the FIRST video that lets me understand what the numbers were - it was the grit of the sandpaper. This is the first video I've found that clearly shows what to do and what products you use. Newbie here, so thank you so much for your help and clear instructions without ever saying anything.

    • @sandcastle2069
      @sandcastle2069 Před rokem +3

      Of course you can use tools instead, and depending on where you start, you might need to only use the last steps of sanding.
      If you have deeper cuts you want to remove entirely, you need to start from the bottom with the coarsest sandpaper first, that saves time. Then work your way up to the finest. I use polishing paste instead of turtle wax, you get them in different grids and most importantly it leaves no residue so I can glue bits together afterwards and it will stick.

      Using a Drexel to speed up the process is not really a good idea - this guy never used one and got those results.
      I know because I tried using a Dremel to polish a digital watch plastic display. Never really became glass clear and had concave pits.
      The key to this process is understanding that one is turning mountains into molehills in a uniform manner on the surface one is polishing. That being said, it’s GO BIG, go manual or go home

      Use a shiny mold vs a matte one. If the silicone on the inside is shiny then the whole piece will come out shiny and all of this is completely unnecessary. If the inside of the mold is matte/no shine then it will come out dull like this and require sanding/polishing. Usually molds come shiny by default and only get dull over time
