What I like the most about this is that you aren’t raging through the moves as if it’s a competition to execute the most sleights in the least amount of time. The rapid-fire chop cup or cups and balls routines always seem to have a subtext of “gotcha!” which seems more adversarial than magical. I really appreciate your slow and deliberate pacing that leaves room for the feeling of wonder and not just surprise.
Awwww thanks jeff! I appreciate that!
One of my favorite. Simple and fun to do. So many ways to do cups and balls.
Like your routine because it is not long and does not have the effect "i am smarter than you, i can do what i want". Here the spectator is not a loser but an actor. It was the reason why i left my chop cup home. Now, I will try tomorow your version. Thanks !
Thank you Michael, beautiful and inspiring. Will definetly have this in my repertoire. ❤
Wonderful! Thank you!
My Chop Cup has literally been in a box forever and not being used! But seeing your hand held version with a spectator is awesome! I'm bringing it out of retirement because of this routine! Great job performing it and sharing. .
This is the classic typical routine performing standing with a spectator. Check out Paul Daniels doing the same 30 years ago.
Although I think the bit where it works in the spectators hand, while magical for her, would tip the gimmick for many watching.
Beautifully routined, my friend. I never imagined you could perform Chop Cup as a strolling effect. I am going to begin practicing ('borrowing' your routine!).
Thom Parkin yes please do!!!!!! Thank you!
This is great! I’ve been trying to think of a good way to make this trick more mobile and user friendly and you’ve definitely given me some ideas. Thank you!!
Thank you so much!!! Sorry for the late reply lol
This one is very good indeed. One, two, three - done! Magic as simple as it should be. And you make the spectator look and feel good, too. Very pleasing to watch. Also, this in-the-hand approach could solve my noise problem I otherwise have with dice instead of balls.
Loved this routine im getting my chop cup in about three days cant wait to start learning what i believe to be the magic trick with the most comedy potential ever
coolhandjake awesome! I cannot wait to see what you come up with!
I bought a brushed aluminum R&T shot glass in 2017 or so, but I haven't put time into a full routine for lack of time (or not making time to learn a longer routine). This is a nice, simple, slow routine that I can see myself doing. Thanks for sharing it! Very strong and entertaining!
So glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!!!
Beautiful! What an amazing routine.
Hi i am from India I purchase almost every penguin lecture. I didn't see any magician who share his full performance of routine from lecture u are sharing you full performance that's nice.......
harsh kumar i think it helps to see what you are buying!
Great!
Divertentissimo.
Pura magia. Bel numero
Nice routine Michael. Thinking of some ideas to make this more friendly for standing situations and walk around in general. Some really nice ideas in here.
Neil Skinner glad to hear it!!!
I have always performed using a table, but this is great; see if I can think of a second large load, Mmmm. ( I like the 8 ball followed by a large ball bearing.)
I'm Magician Nelson, from Brazil
Hi Nelson!!!
That was a awesome standup chop cup routine. And by the way that's the exact chop cup and ball set I want....lol. I still haven't bought one from your friend yet because of money but I hope to soon. I want it before this summer if I can. I think it would look prefect for my street act
Thanks so much!!! Sorry for the late reply lol
Very Nice!
I agree with everyone here, I love your non-combative approach. There's a certain "fear factor" for lack of a better term with this and a certain "magician's helper" prop that has so much paranoia associated with it that the audience can't be trusted with the effect -- thank you for busting this particular myth, I will absolutely be purchasing this before using your technique in my close-up going forwards.
You are too kind my friend. Thank you so much!!!
Awsome.
That was brilliant. Simple yet super impactful. You got me stumped on how ya got it in under the cup when she was holding the cup. Bravo. I want to add this to my set so bad.
Link Hero of Time glad you enjoyed it! I sell the individual trick in my online store of you want. I think it’s like $5. Lol obrienmagic.com/downloads
@@OBrienMagic thanks! I just bought it. Downloading it now!
Nice routine mate.
VERY good!
Thank you!
Wooowww
perfect
Thank you!!!!
This has to be the best chop cup routine I've seen and I've seen dozens. I even like it better than Don Alan's routine.
check it just a cup by axel hecklau ;)
This IS a great routine. Michael! What chop is this? Where can I get one? Do you discuss it in the lecture?
This is a hand made leather cup by Michael Armstrong. Check his stuff out at artrix leather and fine art on etsy!
@@OBrienMagic Excellent. Thank you!
Brother I’ve been looking for a chop cup routine that I actually like I know I have already borrowed so much from your act Would you mind me performing this as well?
Do it!
Minimalistic and not the typical overused routine.. Nice..
