I am the developer, and I am indeed running GammaOS. This cable will work regardless of the operating system. Some caveats with this cable:
Frame pacing is an issue
Audio is not passed through
You are limited to the resolution of the device LCD itself

Can i do this with a rg505?
So the adapter is aone of those Miracast/streaming over a wire options? Ugreen sells some of these too and they have serious artifacts and lag/pacing issues. I would not consider this a viable option. Using an older Displaylink adapter would have even better results.

Do you need a special app or the gammaOS installed? I tried screen mirroring with usb to hdmi and did not work on stock OS.
The guy in the video uses a specific cable from AliExpress (got that same cable) that comes with a special mirroring app, yes.
However it did NOT work on my end (using GammaOS).

If you slow down the video, you'll see that the TV is delayed by a frame. Is the delay noticeable when playing? I have the rg353m for its size and hdmi out. I really want the 405m to have hdmi out.
I would love to use this for the Anbernic Rg 353m. Would it work for that as well?
Well it already has an HDMI out port included so it's kind of redundant
Is there a particular reason you’re using that USB-C to HDMI cable? Does it only work with that cable. I saw another video where they used that same cable.
Yeah, HDMI isn't supported in the HW, which is why he's running some app after he plugs it in which somehow interfaces with the cable and allows HDMI out without audio.

I have the rg405v stock os but isn't working, it doesn't recognise the connection with tv
Got this exact cable with the app that came with it but it won't work. The app is telling me to connect my monitor/TV (what I did multiple times).
Are you even on GammaOS or doesn't that work on Gamma at all?
I use a similar cable on Gamma Os - everything works great

(And take in mind is the adapter, maybe with others will work fine)

Can you use the LD39 on rg405m with stock OS?
It seems that it ONLY works on Stock OS, since I'm using GammaOS with that very same cable and it's NOT working for me.

In the video you can see delay. But it is hard to know if it is the TV or the adapter/cable causing it

it works with gamma os light. dont know whats wrong in your case.
