    In the midst of changing the heater core in my '99 Dakota daily driver.
    Extremely well done and helpful video series. Got some -20 C nights coming up too.
    Thank you for your efforts.

      Oh my goodness! Thanks so much! I hope you get your heat working soon. I loved the ‘99 Dakota I used to have (bought new). It was my daily driver for 19 years before it succumbed to rust. Would love to have another one someday.

    Great video, doing it right. Nicely broken up into 3 parts. Doing a 2000 Dakota tomorrow at work. Lots of hacks out there and you obviously know what your doing. Taking your time and doing it right the first time is the best way.

      Thank you! I used to be a dealer technician working on these trucks when they were new, so I've had my share's worth of dash removals in these. It's not fun to have to remove the dash to do a heater core, but as far as dash removals go - these trucks aren't too bad. I'll take this one over doing a late-model Ford F150! I hope the job goes well on the truck you're working on. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!

    Great Video! I replaced the heater core on my '97 VW Golf and this seems to be a similar process, few things to remove though but not as difficult as I thought. I need to replace the HC on my'99 Dakota and your detailed video is very helpful! Thank you for posting it!

    I had a 69 f-100. took me about 30 seconds to get the old heater core out after I disconnected the heater hoses.. I traded it for a 97 Dakota.. now the heater core in it is going out.. oh my god!

    Nicely done videos on this. I have a 98 Dakota that started to leak a little bit in the passenger side floor board. After seeing what is all involved to replace the heater core, I am now very confident that I will NOT be replacing it. 😅 I will just hope that it makes it through this winter and then bypass it with a Dorman 626-001 Engine Heater Core Bypass Kit. I guess it will be a "nice weather truck" only after doing that. It's a shame because the V8 in it runs great. Just put brand new tires on it and a new battery a month ago. The AC is ice cold too. 😭
    Thank you for the great detailed videos though! 👍

      You might want to retrace your steps - make sure any connections you disconnected have been plugged back in, or have been seated properly. I would check the connector at the ignition switch, also.

    Gonna be doing this job in sweden soon, but thoose special tools for the ac lines (the green and orange) what are thoose called and where can you find them? thanx for the video, great instructions!

    • @AKJeeper
      @AKJeeper  Před 11 měsíci +1

      They are called quick disconnect tools. They are generally used on AC lines, fuel lines, and transmission cooler lines. Here in the states they are readily available at any auto parts store, or even Amazon.

    So I'm at the understanding with my 5.2 that my ac system was rigged and I do not have an accumulator so quick release of the lineset isnt present. It seems the ac was disconnected electrically, but the compressor was still present. Should I go ahead and evaluate further or just finish reassembly.

      @AKJeeper  Před 9 měsíci

      It has been a long time since I’ve tinkered on a non-AC Dakota, but I think the entire heater box will need to be swapped out, and I can’t recall if these trucks were pre-wired for it. You would probably need a parts truck to get all of the components needed to add AC.

    • @ParekoysBRYAN
      @ParekoysBRYAN Před 9 měsíci

      @@AKJeeper i think its already pre wired.i can see the wiring of the AC. So i guess its possible. So you have anu idea how much it will cost to install

    • @AKJeeper
      @AKJeeper  Před 9 měsíci

      @@ParekoysBRYAN I don’t think there would be many shops willing to take on that job. I’d imagine they would charge 4+ hours of labor, double that if they have to disassemble a parts truck to get parts to swap into yours.

      I find this truck a lot easier to do than some others I’ve had to do (late model Fords). At least Dodge makes the dashboard relatively easy to remove. Still not as easy as some other trucks, where the heater core drops out from the bottom of the heater box (90s Chevy full-size trucks), or 94-05Ish Volvo cars. Good luck with your truck, I hope these videos help you.
