Money is not store in hardware wallets. It's stored on the blockchain.

true, the wallet is just the key

Correction: it’s not stored on the device, it’s stored on the blockchain

Wrong, your assets aren't stored on the hardware wallet. But it's a security layer that approves transactions. Your assets are stored within the blockchain itself.

@@alejandroandrade139 The coins are on the blockchain, your wallet is just a display to show your coins. That's why you can retrieve your coins as long as you have your seed phrase.

Suppose if we use Ledger wallet to generate a 24 word seed phrase, does Ledger have access to record it because we generate it by their product, so do they record it or not ? What technology is used here

@@alejandroandrade139The blockchain is the public ledger. It says how much crypto everyone has. To access a wallet, you need the passphrase, which is the list of random words. A hardware wallet stores that passphrase for you and allows you to access your crypto by connecting the hardware wallet to your phone or computer. This means that your passphrase, which is your access to your crypto, is not stores on a phone or computer, which could be hacked or leaked.

The wallet you use hold the keys to access your crypto. Hot wallets generate seed phrases and store your seed phrase on the web exposing it to hackers. When you have a cold wallet the send phrase is generated locally and stored locally making it much more secure. Also cold wallets usually require you to physically sign off in a transaction on the device itself so no one can transfer funds remotely.

I don’t understand why anyone would buy a ledger! They aren’t even open sourced which ruins the point of a hardware walletđŸ€Łat that point just save the 160$ and keep your coins on a hot wallet. Trezor is the way to go

A blockchain becomes harder to hack the longer it gets. It would be virtually impossible with Bitcoin by now, maybe unless someone spent billions on mining.

Tangem Wallet is the only secure HW. You’re talking about seed phrase. Trezor and ledger does not protect it. Tangem does.

no, basically the ledger nano is not holding your crypto it's only a key to access your wallet in a offline way. if you accidentally drop your nano in water or you accidentally break it you can still get your crypto by entering your pass phrase that you are using with that. but once you entered that pass phrase into an online wallet like trustwallet and metamask your wallet is now unsafe if your pc or phone got hacked. sorry if my english is bad

If you lose the 12-24 word seed phrase you cannot recover Bitcoin/Crypto assets. You can lose your hardware wallet and you’ll be fine as long as you have the seed phrase in a safe location.
