in terms of security, given the recent articles on the possibility to hack cold wallet via malicious firmware update, I guess Tangem is the one which is theoritically the hardest to hack as we don't have firmware to update on the card itself, right?
Nope, Tangem is the most vulnerable wallet since it has not any screen connected to the secure element. If your phone is compromised, your tangem too. (in contrary to ledger, trezor..., where you can check transactions on their screen)
@@stanislaspaquin3665 Nope... If your phone is compromised... they can't access your Funds... Your funds are on the blockchain.. not in your tangem app on your phone... You can access your funds using any mobile phone...
Any reputable wallet has measures in place to prevent a firmware update from comprising the device. But you’re right to say Tangem’s firmware is non-updateable by design for increased security. Plus it uses an EAL6+ secure element chip which prevent malicious attacks as well.
How is Tangem the most vulnerable if it has been confirmed to have no vulnerabilities by security experts and has never been hacked? While wallets like Trezor Model T (which has a screen) was hacked for its seed and PIN. Don’t fall for the FUD. Always do your own research before spreading misinformation. Tangem is exceptional. @@cyberscrilla Tangem feels secure because you aren't thinking about the basic security features it lacks. Mainly, no screen. A screen is very important for a hardware wallet. If your device gets malware, that malware could change the address that gets sent to the HW after you enter it. You would have no way of knowing that the destination address of the transaction is actually the one you want to send to. On other HWs, the wallet itself has a screen showing the destination address for a transaction. So if my phone gets loaded with malware, it could send a different address to be signed by my HW, not the one I entered. But then, when I go to confirm my transaction on my HW, I compare the address on it with the one I entered to make sure they match. I always know where my BTC is going. Now, the chances of this happening aren't super high. We are probably safe. But personally, I'm using a wallet that allows me to confirm stuff like this. It's a basic feature that has been in HWs for years, so I don't understand the lack of it.
quick question, on my tangem I notice that the device always generates the same btc reception address, which is not great at all... is there something to activate or a way to generate a new reception address each time? otherwise does the trezor offer this option? merci
He isn't going to knock one or the other being an affiliate with the company. He makes money eother one you buy(through the link). Listen to the pros/cons of both and decide which is more comfortable/compatible/secure. I'm a newbie and going with Tangem because I will probably be moving plenty of money. Than I may go vault/keystone later. I may end up with trezor if I get a laptop purely for crypto. Those are my 3 picks.
Personally the safepal is entirely plastic and I tend to accidently destroy electronics sometimes. (I ran over my own phone at work recently) so durable and secure are the big two, having easy access is also important to me so Tangem to start.
@@MistaChipz I'm a relatively experienced crypto person I've had a safe power for a very long time I also have a keystone and an ellipad I prefer the safe pal s1 the most because it's super easy to use and it's very secure but I definitely understand why you would want one that's a little bit more durable
May I ask what kind of features it lacks? I would like to know I just ordered Tangem after watching your videos. I’m pretty sold on it. I’m just curious what functionality for a bitcoin it does not have. Thank you.
If you're looking for a hardware wallet that's for storing Bitcoin only I've heard that the block stream jade and the cold card wallet are good options if you're willing to consider them.
You can, but it will be more expensive (no 10% discount on Amazon). As for safety, it’s “possible” you receive a fake wallet-but unlikely. But even if you receive a fake card, it wouldn’t work in the app as the app verifies you’re using an authentic Tangem wallet. The only other concern is the possibility of receiving a card that has already been setup so the person who sold it to you knows your seed phrase If you did receive one that’s already set up, you could just factory reset it and you’d be good to go. All that to say, I never recommend buying hardware wallets on any third party websites unless you have no other choice.
@NotonOurWatch wouldn’t use it myself, so I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s 100% closed source. So nothing they claim can be verified. That said, you’ll see many CZcamsrs talk about it because they pay $50 everytime you mention them in a video.
Coldcard is secure. “COLDCARD, we sign our firmware with a factory key. During boot-up, the firmware's signature, and nearly every byte of flash memory, will be verified and the appropriate Green/Red light set.”
I used to be strictly Ledger. Little by little though, they've broken my trust. I'm not going to lose tens of thousands of dollars because of them. Trezor is much better.
Tangem is considered a cold wallet because the private key is stored securely offline on the secure element chip inside the card. Entering your seed phrase into your phone doesn’t mean it gets stored on the phone or online. The seed phrase is only displayed briefly to generate the private key, which is then immediately transferred to the Tangem card. At no point is the private key or seed phrase stored on any internet-connected device.
@@cyberscrilla I totally got that the seed or private key is never stored on the phone directly or online but any input from a phone's touch screen interfaces with the operating system in some way and who really trusts Android or iOS to handle your data with care?
@@NilsFS7 The Tangem app doesnt record data or share it with Apple, Google, or Tangem. And this can be proven because the app is 100% open source. Plus, it’s been audited by two security firms, both who confirmed there are no vulnerabilities or hidden backdoors.
@@cyberscrilla that's not what i said. let me try again: the tangem app itself might handle you data perfectly fine but any input from your touch screen must be interpreted by the phone's onscreen keyboard which is part of the OS. let's say you are hitting a character on the screen. the keyboard will take the input (your finger's touch), interprete it as the character you chose and hand it over to the currently active app (in this case the tangem app). this is a clear failure in design as you have no control over what the OS does with your inputs. a simple example for what your inputs are typically being used is the autocorrect feature. install any messenger, chat a few times and your phone provides personalized autocorrect for you. now install a second messenger and it will come up with the same proposals to you without you needing to type the exact stuff again. this means the phone's learning algos in the OS have processed your inputs somehow and so might they do if you type in a seed phrase. you simply don't know whats happening under the hood as google and apple can update their keyboard software at any time.

In my understanding each network (Bitcoin, eth, solana, ...) has each own wallets and their own keys to access them. When you start using cold wallets it registers particular crypto wallets in theirs networks for you, holds and cares keys from them for you and provides single access point to all of them. Cold wallet is a 3rd party system that serves as provider in front of your crypto wallets. Finally. Cold wallets owns your keys from your crypto wallets, and gives some way to access them. Who owns your keys, owns your crypto. With cold wallets it's not you.
I don't think you are correct. You don't need to use the hardwallet with the manufecture's network or app in many cases, like passport, jade, cold card. These hw just create a seed outside the internet and you can use it on many other wallets conected to the internet like nunchuck, blue wallet etc
Hi. Thanks for your reply. Could you please clarify one more thing. So let's say I have trezor cold wallet. That gives me access to Bitcoin, Ethereum and others I have selected when I configured my Trezor device. Does that mean that seeds that have been generated and secured by physical device ad a key are used for all actual wallets managed by trezor. I mean with trezor I have same seeds, same key for my Bitcoin under trezor, my Solana under trezor and so on. And I could use these seeds to access them directly or via other cold wallets? Thanks in advance
The seed phrase generated by your Trezor device acts as the master key to all the wallets (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, etc. This means that the same seed phrase is used to secure all the cryptocurrencies stored on your Trezor, regardless of the blockchain they are on. You can also use this seed phrase to access your funds on other hardware wallets that support the BIP39 standard (most all wallets) not just Trezor. It’s not specific to Trezor.

The flex doesn’t (and the case is sold separately).
For the price, I’d probably go with the Flex myself. They’re equally as secure.
@@cyberscrillathanks so much for the reply! I will probably get a case so that brings the price closer. in terms of security, given the recent articles on the possibility to hack cold wallet via malicious firmware update, I guess Tangem is the one which is theoritically the hardest to hack as we don't have firmware to update on the card itself, right?
Source that Trezor Model T was hacked: www.coindesk.com/tech/2023/05/24/crypto-security-firm-unciphered-claims-ability-to-physically-hack-trezor-t-wallet/amp/
It's a basic feature that has been in HWs for years, so I don't understand the lack of it.
quick question, on my tangem I notice that the device always generates the same btc reception address, which is not great at all... is there something to activate or a way to generate a new reception address each time?
otherwise does the trezor offer this option?
merci
Multiple addresses feature is coming soon to Tangem.
Which wallet do you think is better the safe pal s1 or the X1 curious on your opinion cuz you've done a review on both
Go watch the dang reviews bud.
@@MistaChipzI've watched both he has never said which is better
Between Tangem, Ledger, and Trezor, Which one do you recommend the best for storing bitcoin only as a cold wallet ? With the highest security .
Both Trezor and Ledger are great for BTC. Both are secure as well. So you can’t go wrong with either.
Tangem lacks a lot of features for BTC though.
May I ask what kind of features it lacks? I would like to know I just ordered Tangem after watching your videos. I’m pretty sold on it. I’m just curious what functionality for a bitcoin it does not have. Thank you.
The main complaint I see is lack of multiple address support for increased privacy.
Which I don’t really care about. But I know many people do.
@@cyberscrillaI think they are adding that soon

@@cyberscrilla thank you.

Can i Buy tangem through Amazon? Any safety issue?
You can, but it will be more expensive (no 10% discount on Amazon).
As for safety, it’s “possible” you receive a fake wallet-but unlikely.
But even if you receive a fake card, it wouldn’t work in the app as the app verifies you’re using an authentic Tangem wallet.
The only other concern is the possibility of receiving a card that has already been setup so the person who sold it to you knows your seed phrase
If you did receive one that’s already set up, you could just factory reset it and you’d be good to go.
All that to say, I never recommend buying hardware wallets on any third party websites unless you have no other choice.
What do you think about decent wallet
@NotonOurWatch wouldn’t use it myself, so I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s 100% closed source. So nothing they claim can be verified.

What about ColdCard with Sparrow?
Coldcard is secure.
“COLDCARD, we sign our firmware with a factory key. During boot-up, the firmware's signature, and nearly every byte of flash memory, will be verified and the appropriate Green/Red light set.”
I used to be strictly Ledger. Little by little though, they've broken my trust. I'm not going to lose tens of thousands of dollars because of them. Trezor is much better.
Ledger is safe. There was so much misinformation spread about them though, and since no one does their own research, the FUD continues
Does tangem work on iPhone 12 or 15
Yes. I have both iPhone 12 and 15 Pro and it works on both.
3:28 You are literally typing a seed phrase into your phone. How can this wallet be considered cold?
And I’m saying this isn’t the case for the Tangem app. You’re example might apply to a messenger app, but not the Tangem app.
When is Tangem going to support ICP?
It’s on their roadmap for August/Sept. But keep in mind, a roadmap is by no means a guarantee. It’s a plan, and plans change.
I know they’re focused on testing and releasing staking, so I’m sure we will see ICP soon after staking is released, if not before.

He made an earlier video with the Titan and way more than he reviewed in this video. They are clunky and overpriced (in my opinion) of course. Trezor sucks
Why?
@@cyberscrilla it’s very misleading . It doesn’t support any of the coins they tell you on the website it’s all for show . And so that you CZcams can keep making money off your advertising
That’s not true at all. You literally made that up. Trezor supports all the tokens they claim.
But not all coins are supported by Trezor Suite, thus, you might have to use other third-party apps to mange certain coins (think MetaMask or Trust Wallet for example).
Hopefully that helps.
That is not correct. With cold wallets, you generate and own your own keys.
Thanks a lot.
This totally makes sense.
Well I confirm I was wrong.
