My actuator went out right at 70,000 miles on my 2017 Ram 3500. I took it to City Diesel in Decatur AL and they were GREAT! No more problems and that was a year ago! Called them and talked to the owner, Jackie Clifton, when I showed up he gave me a tour of the entire facility. Great People, Great Service, Great Product!!

Did you lose boost when it went out? Mine has boost still but exhaust brake comes on and off randomly. Getting the p2262 code

@mkleyn99 never lost boost and no codes weirdly enough

Ok this might be my fix then! Thank you for the quick response!

I just finished this install. A few days before the install I sprayed the bolts with PB Blaster first and then Kroil Penetrant. If you crawl under the truck you can actually shoot a stream of either one on the bottom left bolt which is the hardest one to get out. The top two and bottom right can be taken off with a stubby 5mm with a 1/4" wrench.
You can use the 5mm and 1/4" wrench on the bottom left, to a point. Then I took a 5mm allen wrench put it in a vice and hack sawed it down. Filed the burrs off and it worked like a charm. I am 63 yrs old and not a mechanic. I learned from watching your CZcams channel and Motor City Mechanics channel on how to get this done.
After refilling the radiator I took my code reader, cleared the codes and took it for a test drive. Everything works just fine. I've done a Banks grid heater delete with Monster Ram install and now this. All from CZcams channels. You can do this.

I had little to no turbo boost. Pulled my actuator and checked the shaft movement, was fine. Ordered an actuator from City Diesel and WOW! Totally night and day difference from the stock actuator. The exhaust brake works fine and NO calibration required!! These actuators are awesome!

Sir first off thank you for taking time out to do this. I had a check engine light today so I take it to a shop and they say this is my issue BUT they suggest changing the entire turbo with this part. I’m not a mechanic but I have a little since, I’ve never had my 6.7 3500 in the shop until now. Would you suggest I try this first .

Would depend on the if the vanes are sticky, if that lever is free this should be a good repair

How did y’all’s bottom left Allen bolt come out? Read a-lot of people’s stripped. Just got my new actuator in, afraid I’m gonna strip that bolt when taking out the old. Nothing ever goes smooth for me. Lol going to spray with PB blaster a day before

    • @crutchfieldautomotive7936
      @crutchfieldautomotive7936  Před rokem +1

@Cody.Franklin a tiny ratchet that you can fit the hex heads for a drill in, then use a 5mm
If all else fails the bottom of that bolt is exposed… air hammer it in 1/2 🤷🏻‍♂️ again last resort

I’m going to give it a try. I know my petcock is stuck and just turns in place, so im going to have to drain coolant from the hose on the passenger side.

So I have plenty of boost wot 32psi on a race me ultra tune . Exhaust break just sounds super weak when in use. I do need to check vains haven’t gotten there yet . Did get delete today and checked turbo for shaft okay and it was solid , Do you think this would be my fix or a new turbo😅

Don’t know if your running an auto or manual but from my experience with my automatic truck the exhaust brake works 10 times better in manual mode and downshifting just like with an actual manual transmission

Not a single check engine light for it, should have thrown underboost codes but I had zero

    • @crutchfieldautomotive7936

If you’re asking if I did then yes
If you’re asking if it’s needed then yes as the actuator has coolant passages

@@crutchfieldautomotive7936 Austin Tate made big stink about them to me, but I’m sure it was a trash turbo he built like usual and thats what he clung to as reason of failure. He claimed that the CD actuator was causing over speeding and bunch of other stuff.
My 63/67 stainless diesel 5blade with the 9blade turbine will be here tomorrow. Current is grid heater delete with gdp Hi-Flow grid heater and intake horn, fass 165, S&b 65gal tank, fleece regulated return, S&b intake and now 63/68 stainless diesel drop in.

@hamwallet7069 I had a weird throttle reaction one day just like a delay but it wasn’t a turbo delay it was from the throttle itself, reset after turning it off but that’s all I’ve had
