  • Borth has a sandy beach and is a holiday seaside resort. There is a youth hostel and a caravan and camping sites nearby. There's also a golf course to enjoy for those so minded
It also has a railway station serving The Cambrian Coast line. This line runs directly to nearby Aberystwyth, or inland to Machynlleth, Shrewsbury and Birmingham. By changing at Dovey Jn/Machynlleth connections to Barmouth, Harlech and Pwllheli can be made
An ancient submerged forest is visible at low tide along the beach, where stumps of oak, pine, birch, willow and hazel (preserved by the acid anaerobic conditions in the peat) can be seen
Borth's population is around 1500. Nearby attractions are the RSPB reserve at Ynys Hir around 5m inland, or Aberystwyth 5m south
At the time of my visit there was considerable work being done to repair/improve the sea defences which had taken such a battering in the Winter of 2013/4
