  • Whilst Criccieth may not win the prize of too many peoples favourite holiday destination (the competition being pretty fierce around these parts!) it is nonetheless a fine and rather lovely place to spend time. Because of this it has a rather genteel feel about it
There is a fine castle (built around 1320) on the high ground, jutting out onto Cardigan Bay. This happily splits the shoreline into two, giving us fine vistas. Harlech and further south can clearly be seen - inland to the east, the nearby Snowdonian mountain range dominates
Seeing as the main road is well away from the beaches.it is a very quite place to spend time Of interest on the East Shore is the Morannedd Café which was designed by the noted Clough Williams-Ellis in 1954 (the same person who designed Portmerion)
The population of Criccieth is around 1800. It has a railway service running along the Cambrian Coast (currently out of use due to storm damage - April 2014) and a frequent bus service also
The music was composed by HOWARD GOODALL. Whilst titled 'Land of the Lakes' and written to celebrate the Lake District in Cumbria, its grandeur somehow seems appropriate enough for Criccieth also
