Rhyl was the location for Wale's first private member's cannabis club and medical cannabis dispensary owned and operated by Jeff Ditchfield and named the "Beggars Belief".
@@Dan23_7 The monarail 😁 That was like the equivalent of a helicopter ride around the resort 😎 And the coin operated sun beds for the full Barbados in Wales effect 🥴
Same here and remember when it was not so built up around the town, and toward Kimnel Bay. Was a very sedate place. If you now go in, of an evening, it is all the drunks shouting, and a very scary place
Used to love this place... the posh Blackpool... the Sun Centre, proper holiday highlight. The wave section in there felt ahead of it's time. Real good times....state of the place now, state of the country.... 💩
My auntie moved to Rhyl about 45 year ago when it was a nice place to live . About a mile from the train station in the opposite direction to the beach . Moved back away after about 10 year 😂
My aunt moved to Rhyle some years ago, around the nineteen forties, and it was a very sedate, quite place. Come the late seventies and it began to change, massively. The train that went round the lake at Kimnel Bay disappeared, and the fair ground went, ended up just a derelict site, for years. The entire atmosphere changed. Not there is a feeling of unease in the day, and very frightening at night with all the drunks shouting in the city centre, a veritable madhouse
No way, I'm from North Wales and used to live in Rhyl for a short while, it's a rough area very neglected, was once a nice place many many years ago. Dangerous area at night time , I stayed in the Westminster hotel when I was homeless. Keep up the videos Bill always good to see pop up 😊
Group of went down to Rhyl from Glasgow late 70's, dancing in clubs to Taste of Honey. Don't think they'll be too many 19 year olds planning a long weekend there any time soon. Very sad state of affairs.
Well done Billy. Keep it up mate I live abroad and love the fact your out with the phone recording the other side of life seeing the good bad and the ugly. Best wishes from a scouser in Malta.
My grandmother moved to Rhyle when it was sedate. A lovely place to live, then in the late seventies it began to change to what is so shameful. One of the first things was building on every inch of land, and even, just over the blue bridge, bungalows built up toward the sea wall, and the city centre crammed, felt like it was pushing in on itself, the road narrowed to accommodate the expanse. It became a dive, and as I write this I have not seen your footage, but will not be at all taken aback if it still is a dive,
this city could be "anywhere" these days etc...........I love Rhyl.........the run-down shops and closed have been there for years.........but to a certain degree aslong as there "Clean" and not vandalised it suits the place etc..................Good old Rhyl never changes...............
@@alisonlaing5626I used to love Rhyl in the late 70s and 80s it was always chocker and the fairground always had queues for the best rides, it was becoming a ghost town early 90s when they started charging exorbitant prices for hotel stays and caravans and high ground rents for statics on the campsites around Rhyl, people would go abroad instead because it was cheaper in some places like Spain.
Remember Sugarbabes playing on the front there and some big roadshow going on not too many years ago. Brought my little girl to the suncentre then to the fair after . Was well on its way down hill then. Shame, because the beach is lovely
Keeping it real billy. Nothing has changed, and still a building site. There is a little bit of a prom toward Kimnel Bay, where the fair ground stood, stood there for many years, and opposite, where the lake is, there used to be a train that went round it. If you go out into town, of a night, be careful, its shouting and bawling, and hotels closed their doors when it all kicks off
Its a shame whats happened to rhyl as it used to be a great town and had a brilliant night life but as times gone on the big shops moved out and all the pubs and clubs closed down. Add to that a clueless council who have just spent over 11 million on a new small shopping centre on the front that now they cant get anybody to run or fill it so now its sat doing nothing. Like most seaside towns its become a dumping ground for the all the worst and lost in society and its really starting to show , unfortunately Rhyl is finished.
