    ---------ABOUT THE VIDEO---------
This video was originally uploaded to our other channel, Casual Navigation.
This video shows you the process to follow to work with set and drift on a nautical chart.
We look at the difference between the groundtrack, watertrack and tidal vector and use them to calculate a course to steer and speed required to reach a destination on time.

Just a little constructive criticism: set and drift is about current not “tidal flow.” Flood and ebb tidal flows are different issues. Technically, the blue line is your course (intended line of travel) not a water track. You set a bearing, you designate a course, and you end up with a track. Maybe it’s just variations in terminologies in international regions. Very well produced video.

True comment , but yeah can be a little bit confusing for the novices learning set and drift for the first time. Cheers.

It definitely is persistance that wins out. I was a highschool dropout and discovered later that I could actually do well in maritime school if I was persistant and applied myself. My biggest problem is that I have the attention span of a flea. I try to concentrate on one thing and my mind shifts gears and moves on to the next thing.

Sir here in this video we don't know the course to steer so we will counteract the current so we have to apply the tide at the start position ??
