Considering her dragons are quite stupid, blind and can't dodge a dogshit, it's bad advice as well. Be a dragon... that can't see tons of ships from above or land in dangerous places they should never land. She is horrid dragonrider, horrid mother of dragons and a bad leader. Her intentions are good and pure but that's it. She wants to be the Queen of 7 Kingdoms because of the name but she has no idea how big is the responsibility. She invades foreign to her lands, demands respect and all crap and is unhappy because people don't accept her. She uses her dragons as her shield and tool of fear so people will obey. But now she has only Drogon left, if he goes down as well because of how poor she is then she will be the Queen of Nothing.

Daenerys character reminds me like Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars and Yagami Light from Death Note (anime). Both themselves are believed to be the chosen one, with powerful abilities, desire doing for the good (at least in the beginning) and creating a better place. Yet both have descended into darkness.

Jon Snow had a similar story to Anakin in the beginning yet he never turned to the "dark side". Perhaps he did from an external perspective for the people of Westeros since he did aid in Dany destroying Kings Landing, though retreated out of the city, even when it was too late.

Tywin has songs of greatness written for him because he slaughtered every living soul who opposed him and hung little kids from walls of Castamare and later got the Mountain to kill kids at KL. But he's apparently the greatest strategist. He killed thousands brutally in the red wedding. Same goes for all other characters. Why do you have special rules for Daenerys? There is bound to be bloodshed, it's inevitable.

1. Starks: Robb Stark went to war with the Lannisters and lost. He would win every battle and yet he died at The Red Wedding. He got betrayed because he listened to his heart instead of listening to his family and commanders. He kept Lannister prisoners even it wasn't necessary(but understandable). Robb died because he was too honorable.
2. Baratheons: Stannis Baratheons was determined\ cold hearted in his pursuit to get the Iron Throne. He burnt people alive in the name of The Lord of Light and yet he lost and died all the same. He should've listened to his friend instead of listening to the Red Woman. He mainly lost because he became blinded in determination to be king of the 7 kingdoms.
3. Lannisters: Cersei Lannister(The Mad Queen); she is smart and yet foolish. She has always wanted the Iron Throne. Hell she lost all her children because of her stupidity/selfishness. But it was foretold that one day a younger and more beautiful queen would come to end her rule(only this is after lossing her husband and all her children). The funny thing is that is cause of her all children's deaths. She shouldn't have let her 1st son sit on throne especially when she knows that he crazy/mad/cruel. Second; she shouldn't have let the Viper fight the Mountain. Third; well this mostly and more so directly her own doing(causing her own son to kill himself because of her own horrific actions). Now the time has come Cersei Lannister to die at last.
Queen Daenerys has lost her husband and unborn child because a witch was didn't like her husband(I understand why though), but Daenerys saved and was kind to her and was trying to do the right thing. This cost her though. Daenerys has lost her friend in trying to silence a rebellion. Daenerys arrived to Westeros and has tried to take the Iron Throne in a nonbrutal manner by listening to her advisors; in result she lost her allies and some of her army and fleet. Then she decides go North of the Wall loses Viserion to the Night King. She then decides to her help Jon Snow in the war against the Night King; and she isn't trusted when she arrives(understandable from the North point of view). Hell even Jon's people don't like him for getting her, her dragons and her army to help in the war against the Night King. What is displeasing is that even after help winning the war; they still don't trust or like her. She lost most of army and Rhaegal got hurt for fuck sake. She even had watch her best friend die in front of her on the battle field. After all this she still has to defeat Cersei and Euron to get the Iron Throne. Although; do think that she should've waited to let her remaining army and Rhaegal to rest and heal for about a week or two weeks before going back down south. To make matters worse she has lost and had to watch Rhaegal and Missandei die. Overall I think she has lost enough. She has a temper yes; but she has listened to her advisors in the past and has gained from it in Essos. But, ever since she has listened to her advisors now in Westeros and is trying to do the right thing; she is lossing a lot. I don't blame for going for the last choice in her hand (Burning Them All) in order to get the Iron Throne. She can't run or hide because she and Drogon will be hunted down like she was been for most of her life. She can't block the city off now; she'll loss Drogon. She should've attacked Kingslanding when first arrived in Westeros(her way). She would've gotten the Iron Throne by now. Plus, Cersie will always find a way to counter Daenerys' plans as long as Cersei sits on the Iron Throne. Daenerys doesn't enjoy killing/burning people; she isn't and never will be the mad queen; she is just extremely angry now and now she has no choice. She'll have to burn Kingslanding to get the Iron Throne now(even if doesn't want to). Burn Them All Queen Daenerys Targaryen. Fire and Blood!!!
I feel so bad for her. She endured so much and helped so many even when she didn't have to.

Jorah was wrong to ask Dany to keep Tyrion her Hand. Clearly he's not working for her best interest. Even if he begged on his knees to Varys to not harm her, that's not enough to redeem himself.
He lost her her allies (which have now conveniently been replaced by new house lords because "plot"). He didn't warn her about Cersei possibly not sending help to their fight with the Night King. And he may have struck a deal with Cersei.

A mad queen wouldn't even help the North against the Night King - she would have just charged straight against The Kings Landing and she would have won (remember when she wiped out Jamie's army?).

And we all know Dothrakis respond to strength and force and 3) She had to fight for everything she has/had --- her freedom, her army, her life. It's understandable that she's hard and cold.
I wish they didn't turn her into the super villain (S8). It just didn't connect to the foundation of how her character was written and presented in the past 7 seasons. Sure, make her the mad queen, but I wish they showed that she was struggling to fight this darkness taking over her until she kills herself (or asks someone to kill her, maybe Jon, idk). But I guess 6 episodes are too short to show that kind of story arc.

Where the writers are taking Daenerys' storyline is so so frustrating. There has literally been seven seasons on her freeing slaves, conquering cities, killing bad guys, uniting khalasars, uniting people, highlighting how she ISN'T like her father or any other ruler and how she genuinely cares about her people. That has been her theme and a strong one at that.. But in the last three episodes the writers have decided that because Dany has lost Ser Jorah, as well as her Dothraki, her dragon and her best friend she must become the "Mad Queen" irrational and destructive, hell bent on destroying everyone while painting Jon Snow as the saviour. Yet when Jon Snow has suffered lost becomes stronger, braver and more of a hero each time. I don't mind the guy but why is Jon always the hero? If it wasn't for Dany flying and saving him, he'd be dead.If it was for her armies and dragons they'd all probably be dead. If it wasn't for Dany the Night King wouldn't have been knocked off his dragon for Arya to kill on the ground. Where was her praise? For some reason, all of a sudden and for no decent reason, Tyrion, Varys and Jon all turn against her... What a stupid plot and huge let down after almost a decade of brilliant storytelling.
It's just forshadowing. The mad king probably wasn't always mad. But all she has wanted was power. She did what what right early but you can see power and craving is getting to her. Which is normal. How many times you see someone do good until they have power. I see it all the time.

It's not "winning a war by not playing nice" Dany has always had bad impulses, reference season 2 where she says she'll burn cities to the ground. Often she was under check by her advisers. Jorah when she was going to execute prisoners that she belived were sons of the harpy and tyrion when she wanted to crucify and burn cities to the ground. The feeling of betrayal and isolation that she has is earned but she's not entitled or justified in killing thousands of civilians who have nothing to do with it. The bells rang, the city surrendered and she still burned them all.
Dany is a fool, she stayed in meeran trying to end slavery when she should have immediately flew to kings landing and claimed the iron throne, she would have been unexpected since she wasn’t in meeran long with not much word on her yet, she would have had 3 dragons and took kings landing easily, imprisoned or sentence cersei to death and then dany could have ruled from the iron throne and gained allies through diplomacy

@array s Probably will make Jon take the Iron Throne. A position he doesn't want and isn't remotely prepared to take on and will probably take the Seven Kingdoms back to the state they were in during season 1 under Ned with ambitious nobles ready to start tearing the Kingdoms apart again. I guess it is a bittersweet ending but it negates so much of what the show has already built up.
Funny thing is she is still better and purer than the likes of Sansa and Arya. Despite everything that happened to her, she hasn't betrayed anyone who has put their trust in her. I can't say the same thing about those around her though.

Barnaby Bex because they believe Jon will be a better ruler than Dany. Being king or queen isn’t about how much you’ve lost to get it it’s about how fair your going to be on the throne. Everybody supports Jon because he was raised with honor. Jon is one of the very few people who still respects honor and believes in fairness, therefore people support Jon more than Dany. Also if Jon is the king he can unite the north and the south together again and Westeros will be United once more.

This is amazing. Daenerys is one of the best complex villains in modern time. I still think GRRM would write her arc better in the books but it’s obvious even in the show that she’s been going dark for some time now. Love this video!
The point of her story is that she doesnt belong in westeros, but she chose to go anyway. Daenerys isn't mad. She understands now that she should've listened to Lady Olenna when she had the chance to. Daenerys put her mission on hold countless times for the greater good, but the moment where she's pushed to the edge and decides to do what she should have done from the start, she's a mad tyrant? Do any of you understand what war is? A war can't be won or loss without innocents suffering. Innocents dying is inevitable, especially in the Game of Thrones. All this says is that Daenerys made a mistake by listening to her stupid advisers in season 7. By team Daenerys not attacking KL from the start of their conquest, they gave Cercei an ample amount of time to prepare for them to come, and we're now seeing the finished product of that. War means death, and nothing more. Varys has been talking crazy about how Daenerys is unfit to rule now that she's about to blaze KL to eliminate the real mad queen, but he has yet to do his job and advise to her what she needs to do in order to overtake KL without bloodshed (which is impossible and a pipe dream). He suggested that they wait until the people betray Cercei to penetrate the capital, but how realistic is that? Her people are starving and they are to weak to fight back. They'll be waiting forever for a lucky opening.
Honestly, I do not think most of these scenes make her mad. She is compassionate and merciful, but ruthless, just like Robert was and if he was not always drunk he would have been a good king

That's the best explanation actually. The writers fucked up. You cannot even call it character development. Seasons 7 and 8 are the worst.
When you take it into consider, it turns out that all advices of Dany's advisors completely failed. She lost two dragons...and still has NOTHING. Just remind the way how Aegon conquered Westeros with his dragons....he didn't hesitate...and he WON.
Dany lost Viserion and Rheagal due to her own carelessness.
He also made sure to get conquered Lords onto his side by releasing them from the shame of turning coats under their current overlords by getting rid of those who truly stood in their way of becoming his allies. Burning those Lords who were responsible to so many would have only created a void soon filled with rage and passion for vengeance. We make peace with our enemies, not our allies.

Honestly don’t understand why people are saying she’s going mad like her father! Conquering has sacrifices. She’s lost everything and now wants revenge. Anyone would want justice for that
Yeah but revenge doesn't mean burning a bunch of innocents alive. Arya and Sansa had their revenge on people who harmed them/their family but didn't harm any innocents.
The people who are saying that her story arch in this season is ooc for her must have forgotten her actions in the last 7 seasons. She's always been a little unhinged.

I’m pretty sure a lot of the standing characters have lost just as much if not more and still aren't compelled to burn innocent people and children alive for their own personal gain out of grief
