Came here to comment just that. Just be doing some editing she gets a great character arc in 4 minutes! Couldn't they at least make one episode about this? Or even half an episode where we could at least see what she actually felt to make that crazy decision?

One of the most beautiful and tragic character arcs ever put on screen.
The problem was not that she died and that she went mad, it's how it happened. It was rushed and incomplete, Cersei and Dany conflict needed a season. So did the Night King. The writers were to eager to be done with GoT so they rushed everything and finished it early, so they can go work on their star wars.
They're so stupid, they killed GoT, I hate them...

@@rainxp1318 I know this was old but she was never meant to sit on the iron throne. She was meant to bring change but never to rule and see the world that she brought change to. That's what her dream of the iron throne represented. We all thought it was snow in her dream but it was ash

This girl was a villian for a couple of minutes, her turn to the final antagonist was so forced because there was no point where you felt this women had abandoned her ideals (not properly), there was no turning point and you had no sympathy for her - all your attachment destroyed for a shock moment. That moment could of happened if there was a moment where Danarys sunk into madness where she just legit lost it.
yup imagine seeing her falling slowly into madness.... well i guess now you have imagine cos they rushed the show
or simply couldn't come up whit anything better than this....
Obviously its a shame this season was rushed, but really she never abandoned her ideals, even to the moment of the massacre, that's kind of the point about madness that martin always wanted to make I think. She was never really a queen of mercy, even if she thought she was.
@@lukeboeckelmann1684 How do you go from burning your enemies to burning innocents? What causes this fall? She jumped from one position to an extreme, it was a shock value moment but there was no basis for it, there wasn't an indication that her character developed into this point - she states mercy one episode and the next she looks flusteref and burns those people.
She was mercilesd with her enemied but never with innocents, this huge change from one side to an extreme just feels empty.
She could've just flown over to the keep as soon as she destroyed the ballistas, and just killed cersei

@@circleinfo which is fine. it's the way they went about literally fucking everything that made the entire thing utter shit. you can't build shit up for years only to have characters do a 180 over the span of a few minutes because you were too fucking lazy to write properly. if these fucking hacks were unwilling to see the show to completion they should have stepped aside. oh well at least now they'll go over to Disney and help them fuck the rotting Star Wars corpse

Maybe the outline just said "flip a coin to decide which Targaryan went mad and the other sane one kills the mad one" the writers being the gods here, lol. Death is but a slight detail in game of thrones anyway.
You do know that even if the writing had been supperb and not rushed, if they had taken 2 seasons for the night king and the final clash with Cersei, this would still have been the final outcome right? So if you mean by lazy writing that the process was rushed, I half agree with you (as that writing did not kill her character. She is still a great character, just with a rushed final arc). If you mean by Lazy wring that you feel her character was turned into something she was not (which many people seem to complain about) then I disagree with you as Dany was always (very clearly and obviously from my point of view, I saw this comming since s3 and was amazed how many people where still rooting for her and ignoring and downplaying the horrible methods and dangerous things she was saying..)going to go this way. Better yet, she always has been this way. It's just usualy her attention is turned to people very easy to hate. That didn't make her methods and dangerous way of speaking about herself any less problematic.. but people didn't care because bad men died. Thats the point of her character. To confront people with how dangerous it is, and how easy, to root for somebody charismatic, good looking, with good ideals, and justice like end results DESPITE the methods they use. Despite the way they talk about themselves... if you lose track of the horrible things they do, downplay them, ignore the horrible methods they use, how they get drunk of power and start talking in god complex like ways even if that god complex is in a I will save everyone and the world will be beautifull sort of way, all because so far you like what they acomplished, your ignoring how dangerous a person really is. And if you where to support a person like that in real life, you very well could be in the process of creating a dictator. History has proven this, it has happend time and time again. Dany is a warning in this, a lesson for people to take to heart. So don't ignore the fact if/when you got it wrong with Dany. Learn from it, and be gratefull for the amazing thought provoking character she is and how she helped you grow as a person by learning how NOT to follow people like her. Always ALWAYS pay attention to the methods (not only the end results), and a person's state of mind (not just how inspiring they sound when they say things that hit you right in the heart). When people start talking as if they are Justice, as if they have all the answers, regardless of what else they say, regardless of how beautifull and amazing such a person sounds, be warry of them. No good can come from any leader who thinks he/she is the answer to everything. No good can come from a leader who is willing and able to commit to horrible methods and acts (burning people, putting them crosses, and other ''symbolic'' deaths) regardless of who the victems are. It's not about if her victems deserved it. Making the world a better place is not about revange.

I could always see the underlying bouts of madness within her and always knew she wasn't as good as she thought she was, I only wish the writers gave her a chance to realise this herself before killing her
It's game of thrones. Everyone was mad for power and did crazy shit. I don't agree there was any indication that she had any special condition that made her actions uniquely crazier than those far crueller who were already in charge.

Best villain ever. Loved the transition. Would of been nice to have a whole season to focus on her turning mad but the directors did a disservice by cramming everything into one season.

Was never a big fan of Dany, thought her scenes were kinda boring compared to the rest, but it was still high above anything else I had ever seen on television, only rivaled by Breaking Bad, so when D&D ruined her too I still felt horrible, I can't imagine what her "super fans" must be feeling like...
Well..she is the reason why I've been watching this show,and to be completely honest she is literally the reason why I'm still alive :'D that must really sound stupid to you but I looked up to her a lot,she has been a symbol of hope for me

People talk about her "turn", but she did exactly what she said she'd do. She's been talking about doing this for years, we just weren't really listening. Once we saw her do it to people we don't feel deserved it, we saw it for what it truly is, mass murder.

The failure of season 8 was not Emilia Clarke's acting, it was not that Daenery's "deserved" a happy ending. It was in how she was written in the show from the start, which hugely impacted her character arch in the end. Because the show disregarded the inner struggles she has in the books and several of her bizarre experiences, as well as all the while building this lovable heroine arc. It all boils down to the rushed change in her in just a handful of episodes, when the tragedy of her story should have been apparent from the start.

If I recognize the music it is from Inception. I'd play it in memory of the character of Daenerys, D and D killed her twice in season 8. First they killed her character then they had Jon Snow stab someone.

Everyone saying she shouldn't have been queen and the signs were there, there wasn't nothing she was doing that everyone else wasn't doing. She trusted her council, freed slaves and did what the thought was right. She wasn't "mad." If that's the case Ceresi was crazy too. Imo the character was set up as a redemption arc for the Targaryen line. She was fully aware of the faults of her ancestors and was sold into slavery by her own family. Things that should have broken anyone else didn't break her. Her only fault was her naivety and trying to appease everyone. How does she sound any different than y'all favorite superheroes dishing out vigilante justice? Even Tyrion backed her before they yeeted this character off a cliff in the last season. Maybe she didn't deserve the Iron Throne but she deserved a fair shot. Not some sudden descent into madness and then death. If we ever get that last book I hope George can redeem her. Idk maybe her arc just hits different in the books but I didn't get a sense this is what George wanted.

i feel like daenerys (because of her speech in the last episode) is conqueror and queen, why? her evolution throughout the seasons remind me of aegon the conqueror (essos and then the 7 kingdoms) and when tyrion told jon : "she will free every cities until she became her queen" or something like that, i immediately thought "alexander the great" (he desired to be the king of a large and big country)... idk it’s maybe wrong but if it was their idea, it was cool 🤷🏽♀️

She was never "the one true queen" in my opinion, but a girl with an unbreakable will who got sold on a dangerous dream. That dream killed thousands of people, and ultimately it killed her. This is the saddest a character arc has made me in years. RIP
But in the end she just saved Westeros...it's clear that without her and the dragons the Night King would have killed EVERYONE in Westeros
