In today's video we return or our War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition series vs a new opponent, Hartwig.
…
► Summary: Introducing a new PBEM series of Matrix/Slitherine’s game, War in the Pacific: Admirals Edition
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
War in the Pacific: Admirals Edition - www.matrixgames.com/products/3...
War in the Pacific: Admirals Edition, is a monster turn based strategy game which puts you in the shows of either the Allies or the Imperial Japanese military during World War II. Based on the award winning War in the Pacific from 2 by 3 Games and Matrix Games, the standalone expansion, Gary Grigsby’s War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition, adds significant improvements and changes to the original title to enhance game play, improve realism, and increase historical accuracy. With dozens of new features, new art, and engine improvements, War in the Pacific - Admiral's Edition is the most realistic and engrossing WWII Pacific theatre game available. The immense scale is 40 miles per hex with losses covering individual vehicles, aircraft, guns and squads. Since half the planet Earth is covered by the titanic Pacific struggle, the game is massive in scope, covering thousands of ships tens of thousands of aircraft. - Hry
I’ve really enjoyed this series and would love to see more of this game on the channel though if this series isn’t likely to be revived I would support you restarting the series as the Japanese player though either way this has been a enjoyable watch
I really like this series as one of my favorites, due to the sheer amount of micro detail. It’s a sad day to know it won’t be on for a very long while, but one thing I don’t get is that if, the values were altered to give Japan a better advantage, why stop? Was there more that these new values produce better outcomes for the Allies as the war progressed? That would be the only thing I can think of.
Some changes give Japan an advantage, some do not, there's a wide variety of changes, and I imagine if you don't normally play with those changes you may not feel comfortable knowing what you're getting into. For me it doesn't matter, cause I don't know how to play differently, I've only ever played with those changes.
Bummer. I was looking forward to see the end result in like 8-10 years... ;-)
This game really requires an enormous amount of dedication timewise. But it was fun as long as it lasted. Well, more time to play other things....
I have followed from day one, sorry it seems to end like this. It's been great entertainment and I've been waiting for the Allied 'push-back' literally for years, bummer! But thank you Sir and also the noble opponents, it's been a blast.
Pax vobiscum.
There’s another 22 episodes in the playlist after this one (and still going).
A real shame to see this (probably) end, it's been my most-anticipated upload from you by far for quite some time now.
I'll second what Brooks Riley said in another comment in that if this is the end of the series, it'd be cool to see you paying as Japan in another series.
I guess I lost my bet on who's WWII would be over first, Historical Gamer or Indy Neidell's WWII channel
I have loved the series, it got me into playing War and the Pacific, but I think it is time to call the series. The Japanese players just don't last long enough to have a good game come out of it.
Thanks for the update. I'm going to dive into this game sometime soon, maybe this winter when there's not much else to do.
Sorry to see this game come to a conclusion but I understand. Hopefully you can maybe do another one in the future, I really enjoyed watching your playthrough.
Thanks historicalgamer for doing this unique series of WitP. It's an obviously niche game but it seems like there really is no other Pacific War game that even comes close to the realism this game offers and detail. So your videos were both enjoyable and instructive over these last two years! I've watched them off and on - hard to believe time passes so quickly. Looking forward to any future games you pick up and stream. By the way, have you tried Imperator Rome? It's release was not great, but Paradox made some impressive updates since release - including a much updated UI, and the game really has some very good depth and game playing polish, and seems especially suited for historical depth. Cheers.
Pity, we never seem to get to see what later war witp would look like with the Japanese on the defensive.
loved it
Darn, this was my favorite series on your channel, but you do you, and who knows in the future 🙂🙂 maybe an allies vs computer to show what the allies could have done in the future
I have enjoyed your cam-pain. : ) I have learned things, such as reforming your larger units with components. Still need to learn things like how you used Scout bombardment spotters off your CAs and BBs. Q. Does this mean your Sub Driver with that lot of bad Mk-14s will get to stay in the service, he was the only one.
Will likely rewatch your saga in case I missed any episodes to "like". LQQking forward to another tour if you have another go at Witp-AE. Will enjoy seeing how you redo (and/or ignore) what you already know (will know). Well done.
3 years of playtime
153 episodes
4 opponents
And the date is still only May 1942.
That's just insane.
Can we at least get a look through the statistics like the names of the warships sunk, or the number of aces and the like?
I know this has started and ended a few times, but still want to express interest in you playing another campaign or scenario if you want to keep it short. This game is what got me on your channel!
I think you should just start a new WITP with somebody.
:( Hope you can maybe start another game. Has been interesting watching and I am thinking of getting this game sometime soon. Looks like an epic game to play ... just got to find the time to get into it :)
What a shame. This was my favorite kind of video on your channel. But in its current state it will be hard for you to find a Japanese player to pick up the game. And starting the series over would probably take too much time unless both you and your new opponent were extremely dedicated to moving things along.
How sad this is. This game doesn't looks to be possible to get beyond May 1942 on many YT channels. You have been struggling on and that's good.
Do please inform what of the many "adjusted" DB this one really is. Some like from AndyMac is not very much changed but then we got much more variants and "updates"
I think another "official" update might be in the works too.
Fingers crossed for a restart/continuation, but if it's a final ending I salute you for sticking with it these several years, and gone out finding one player after the other to step into the hopeless shoes of Japan.
I don't know any of the details of the database changes you mentioned, however there are still various changes that can be made in the Editor Module to give some benefits to the Japanese player, that would allow a Japanese player to feel like he has a better chance to make the game competitive. I don't understand why Hartwig bailed without exploring other options.
SURREY TO SEE IT GO! AFTER ALL THIS TIME
I figured either your opponent couldn’t continue for some reason, or you were still playing but focusing on putting other games on YT and maybe future episodes of WITP would encompass multiple turns.
I’m sad to see this one end, but glad it wasn’t because an opponent either rage-quit or had some serious life interruption.
I hope you feel better soon.
It's because of you THG that i play this game today. One of the best series. Maby play against de IA? Or ask The Develish Mr. Lodrick? He play against others youtubers.
Lodrik was his opponent before
@@Macquarrie1999 ah! Crap!
Damn that is is shame.
I feel like this has been an Allied victory for a year. I think it’s time to finish this up.
Well the game is designed to be an allied victory… Japan winning isn’t really the objective for a Japanese player.
@@thehistoricalgamer tell that to Hellsen and other Japanese players that have repeatedly auto-victoried their opponents. With respect, do what you want of course, but all of your precious opponents of this particular PBEM have squandered all of the opportunities Japan has to be truly competitive. The window of opportunity has come and gone. Any future opponent will be signing up to be a pin cushion/punching bag for you now. It’s fun, it’s not compelling for a viewer any longer. My humble advice to you would be to claim victory, as you should, and officially end this series. That’s just my advice to you as a fellow WitP player and Allied PBEM operator.
I don’t find Japanese players (not referring to my opponents because they resigned for other reasons), who quit the second the game turns against them as players I would have any interest in playing. They expect the allied player to play through the tough times and then don’t return the favor, the WITP community has a bit of an issue with many Japanese (not all), players who only play until midway happens to them.
Also being “able” to win doesn’t mean the game is intended as such. The auto victory was merely added to the game as some sort of arbitrary thing for a Japanese player to strive for as a way to give them an early war objective. I wonder if the game would be better without it… certainly I think the 1942, auto victory is probably not a good design choice, it leads to very short sighted play which creates this all or nothing Japanese bulrush which torpedos any chance at a meaningful middle-late game for anyone who isn’t very disciplined.
6:21 Wait, are you a Packers fan? Are you a Wisconsinite?
Go patriots
I do not get it. The changes should help the Japanese, and they need some help.
More like the previous players have just given the Japanese player a hopeless mess. I wouldn't want to play it from some of the things I have seen.
THG, I'll play you in a shorter multiplayer scenario
I’ll consider it
Too bad. I was enjoying it.
For those that do not know, go pack go is a secret code? 🤣 😎
I believe THG lives or at least grew up somewhere near Green Bay WI.
THG is a Brewers fan, says that on his profile. He is from Wisconsin, but he lives and works outside of there now. Maybe somewhere near Chicago.
@@dans.5745
“Go Pack” is about NFL football, not baseball.
If you’re born in Wisconsin, it’s very rare not to be a fan of the Pack and the Brew Crew.
@@dougjb7848 I know the Packers are NFL & Brewers are MLB. I was just making a point that Wisconsin is most likely his favorite state. I remember watching when Bart Starr was playing.😃
@@dans.5745
Ah sorry! I thought you were insinuating that THG has some allegiance to any sports team based in Chicago.
If you were, I’d have to slap you silly with cheese hat.
Bart Starr. Can you say it five times fast?
Personaly i think THIS game is end it not a probleme win or lose it just that the suply in japan side is so mess up with the constante change of player that just for understant the suply line a player need 10 to 20 turn and after that he need 50 turn to make the systeme work and in this time no offencis or deffencif operation could be done . so now either go start a new one or let it repose in peace
Hartwig did not think the supply situation was that bad. 🤷♂️
@@thehistoricalgamer as far as i know it prety bad but anyway i don't think you could continus thsi game exepet if you use a ia
@@thehistoricalgamer You should just rejoy you win and passe to another let play
Start a new game. 😊
There hasn't been an official update to WitP:AE since 2015, so what you're saying makes little sense. In any case, the victory conditions for the Japanese should be having more territory than historically by the end of 1943. Anything else makes little sense. Going beyond that point is just an exercise in futility for the Japanese. The Japanese lost the war as soon as it started on December 7, 1941. They don't have the industrial nor manpower capacity to win. Personally, I think the best NON-OFFICIAL update is with the DaBabe series.
It want an official update. It was a player-community modset, which many use but the current (final) opponent was unaware of.
