2. most importantly, the islands in the S China Sea, which Japan had seized and occupied, that were to be stripped were those stolen at the beginning of the First World War in 1914! This was half a century or more before any of the claimants of these islands were even formed, except for one China
3. So, which of the S China Sea claimants was the Cairo Declaration talking about when declaring that these islands were to be stripped from Japan and to be returned to???
4. So, not only from a historic standpoint, but from a legal standpoint, China has the legitimacy to claim the S China Sea, except, it never would do so in the western way that imposes exclusivity of use. As Mr Koo eluded to, China always regarded this region as its back alley that the
