Some more great tips…heading on a long haul flight for my first time to England for husband’s family emergency soon! I take my own body bar soap, use a cheese slicer and slice my body bar so I can put some in my purse for the public washrooms, make me feel fresher, and won’t take as much room in my carry on or checked. If going to be away long, I take a sponge, cut it into half or quarters. Dampen the sponges, squirt some dish soap on each piece. Then I gently rub the soap into the sponge. I leave them to dry, them place them in a ziploc bag. Now I have a sponge and dish soap to wash out my travel bottle or mug to keep it clean.

I’ve seen another CZcamsr do the “cut up damp sponge and put soap on them and let them dry” thing and I’ve used that hack.
I like your hack of using a cheese slicer to slice thin pieces of your bar soap for washrooms! I’ll have to try that out.

On my last trip, I brought a mix of whatever lotion I had on hand and a few drops of lavender essential oil. The lavender was a trick I picked up during the years I worked nights, which as it happens was good practice dealing with jet lag.
Instead of saline spray, I brought a neti pot and a few envelopes of the buffered saline mix. I used it as part of my airport bathroom routine before boarding.
Disclaimer: I used tap water. The official instruction is to use distilled water. I personally have had no issue with tap water, but that might be plain luck on my part.

Laurie I know this comment isnt about skin care, but we just flew from Tokyo to Melbourne, and had such horrible (for me) turbulence. I saw the discussion you had with your pilot husband about aircraft and turbulence and I couldn't believe that as i was panicking his face and calm voice came into my head and calmed me down, quite a lot. Great hacks and gives good ideas for taking "liquids" safely! My travel hack for bathrooms all over: I take the tiny sample vials of perfume in a prescription pill bottle. Put some right under your nose, and it will mask the icky odors of a loo so you can at least use it! My children (all adults) have passed the "goody-smell" trick to their own traveling children!! Also can spray perfume/after shave onto cotton balls and keep them in a tiny zip-lock bag. Comes in handy to help make those icky loos tolerable! Safe and happy and moist skin to everyone- thanks for these hacks.

Hi, fellow non-rev traveler. I use & travel with Gold Bond Pure Moisture Lotion Ultra Light Daily Body & Face -fragrance free. It's thick enough to put in small containers, even tiny containers which I carry in my purse & keep in my vehicle. I avoid lotions, etc, that have petrolatum, mineral oil, and petrolatum- based ingredients. Pure Moisture isn't greasy. Try the small tube 1st. Thanks

Today and I’m really enjoying all of your tips. I have one suggestion. For your products that you need a much smaller mount of I use a contact lens case! For the facial wipes, I find that most of them are quite large, so I cut them in half and it’s plenty for me. I then put as many as I need for my trip in a sandwich-size ziploc bag and squeeze as much air out as I can to make it really flat. Takes up very little space!

People coming to the Phoenix area in the winter are in for very dry air. Our humidity is 26% right now which is nasty low but the other night it was 13%. It can make your skin look like the crypt keeper. I love moisturizing facial sprays. My favorite is the Wholly Green Water spray from ShopMissA. I have chronic dry eye and I use a preservative free Systane vials like Laurie. But I use two vials per day during the day and one more at night when I get up I need to use eyedrops then also. So just bring the amount plus extras that you typically use. You may drop one on the floor and you don’t want to use that so make sure you have extras. I always keep a vial in wrapped up Kleenex with a small mirror in my pocket. I put that in a baggie for TSA, because you can’t have anything in your pockets. After TSA then I put the eyedrops and the small mirror in my pocket so I can use them at any time. 👀
PS: I have my TSA liquids bag but I put the eye drop vials and allergy spray in a separate bag with my meds. Never had problems at TSA.
