Dr. Bombay was one of the best supporting characters on Bewitched. They should have written him into the scripts more often than they did.
Dr Bombay, like Uncle Arthur, had the best lines.

Am I the only one who likes to occasionally visit these Dr. Bombay clips for the sound of his appearance effects? I wish I could get an MP3 sample of that Horn & Drum sound effect.
Well, there are at least two of us! 😁 Wasn't that the best appearing / disappearing sfx in the entire series..?! Sadly, whomever was in the editing room was very inconsistent given that, as you can hear, more often they just gave him Sam's sfx. I wonder in which season(s) they gave him the horn & drum sfx. ?? Actually, the main instrument is definitely tuba. Also, I think there may be one other instrument in there but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe oboe? But such a majestic sfx and absolutely perfect for the character. Anyway, nice to know there are other folks like me who appreciate the little things like that where others don't even notice. Would I be guessing correctly that you also like radio station jingles?

Whoever wrote Dr. Bombay’s lines must’ve also wrote some of the lines for Raymond Redington in The Blacklist. I feel like they have very similar adventures.

"Bewitched" had so many fine character actors in recurring roles. It enhanced the series. It had a surreal, goofy quality. The Nora Ephron film based on the series had none of the charm. The original charm came from Samantha's sex appeal and Endora's haughtiness juxtaposed with all the goofballs.
Bernard Fox was the perfect Dr. Bombay. I wish they had thought him up before the end of season three. It was funny when he and Uncle Arthur were in the same episode, which was rare. SUPER ARTHUR is one of the few, if not the only one.
He also had quite a long life. Made it to 2016. There is a man who practically saw it all.
