      Outstanding analysis once again. Well done. Do you think that Neymar should have defensive responsibilities while he performs so many important roles at the same time that benefit the team immensely? What's the best formation to play Neymar? 3-4-1-2 (as no.10) or 3-4-3 ( as false 9) ?

    • @nickarnaudntore5383
      @nickarnaudntore5383 Před 5 lety +1

      Hello Piotr. A really nice analysis 👌👏👏👏 as a 10 now, defensive responsibilities are reduced and he can now focus on playing collectively. I think Tuchel is really one of the best coach in the world by trying different tactics and getting the best from his players. With their 4-2-3-1, PSG is a team to fear but the problems I see are:
      1) Fullbacks push too high and leave a lot of spaces behind
      2) the duo of Verratti and Rabiot isn't one made to defend. I think in Ligue 1, they may even win all their 38 matches but in Champions league against a big team, they really that number 6 who can defend properly and also play with the ball.
      Thank you

    The comparison with Messi seems quite obvious, doesn't it? Does not defend much, drops deep to organize the play, uses a combination of dribbles, one-twos and through passes to get past the defense and so on... A few differences of course related to the team (Barcelona does not necessarily need Messi for transitions and Neymar does not have a fullback as an essential partner unlike Messi for example), but still it does seem like Neymar did learn a few things from the big man. I'm really wondering how it can go in big matches... I can seen both possible outcomes, either Neymar drops deep, gets followed and challenged quite heavily, forcing him to just side-pass the ball back without creating anything... or worse, committing mistakes in his own half. Or else, it could be the key to PSG's midfield problem, the connection that was almost inexistent between a line of forwards who just wait for the ball and clueless midfielders who can't reach them at all. Wait & see!

      The perfect position for Neymar is lw. But in order to get the best out of the team he would do better there especially looking at psgs midfield problems. He could be the solution. And also they really don't need him to score cause they have mbappe and cavani. So yes Neymar would really benefit the club from playing at that position but his most effective from the wing. His style suits the wing.. everything about his game is perfect in the wing. No doubt the best lw in the world. At 10 I would say Messi and then Hazard are the best. And I also have to add one thing, imo Neymar just like Messi is a once in a generation player. Apart from his theatrics he is simply outstanding

    He definitely has all the attributes to be an elite 10, but i'm not convinced he has the instincts of one. Neymar's natural game is taking people on with individual skill and then creating off of this, i don't think he values possesion the way natural 10's like Iniesta, Silva or De Bruyne do. Neymar is almost too positive with the ball, always looking to create something. This is fine for a winger who doesn't need to control the tempo of the game, but a 10 can't realistically create something every possesion and need to know when to lay off a bit, this is something i think Neymar could learn with time, but i'm not sure it's worth the effort.

      @timothystamm3200 Před 5 lety +3

      I think it depends on if they can use movement better to get him free in a half space if he is in the middle or on the wing. Essentially what's the rest of the team capable of so that they distract markers away from him and what combination would lead to that. Furthermore another question might be who's the quickest and more attentive of the opponents defenders their fullbacks or their defensive midfielder. Essentially if Tuchel feels his opponent doesn't have a great can and that Verratti, Cavani, Di Maria, and Mbappe's movement is good enough to get Neymar open then he might start down the middle, otherwise probably down the wing. For example, against Liverpool he might have played down the middle if Verratti hadn't been suspended, but because of that suspense he definitely did not have the guys to pass through Firmino, Milner, and Wijnaldum to try and get at Henderson. But who knows we'll see today.

    • @richardkong6226

    • @J040PL7

    • @gamecrab1015
      @gamecrab1015 Před 5 lety

      J040PL7 Ye ik but that still depends on the way you’re playing and the current situation e.g Neymar is the playmaker so when he gets the ball people instantly get into space and he can pick out a man. But he’s also pacey and a winger so he can run at opponents which might not be good considering he plays as n10 but he can also get back quickly. So what I think is he’s not really playing a false nine (or false ten or whatever) he just has instructions to sometimes get back or stay forward depending on substitutions e.g the second PSG vs Liverpool game. :)

This makes me think that, although he was a very good Barcelona player, he would have been an amazing Real Madrid player - back when they were focusing a lot on very fast counter-attacks. Don't you think? I would have been curious to see him do fast counters with CR7.

    Great Analysis. Didn't think of Neymar as main creator before. Tuchel may have tried Neymar as no 10 after Klopp totally exploited Neymar's lack of defensive effort. At no 10 he can just covershadow DM of opposition but the problem is that he may get even less space. One thing tuchel can do is switching Neymar through the wings in pocession while asking him to come inside when the team is chasing the ball

      Kaushik Mahadevan I guess, but It really depends on if Neymar is willing to run because transitioning back and forth from 10 to wing requires higher work rate and he isn’t really known for that. I personally think it’s better to keep Neymar on the wing and just buy a natural playmaker. It’s not like PSG is lacking in the financial department anyways.

    I don't like the idea of Neymar playing no.10. He is most dangerous and exciting to watch when opted in the final third, especially left wing. His skillset should be used to directly attack the defenders, not to fool around in the midfields where there's more opponent and pressure. It might work against weak teams in France but surely would not suffice in big matches in the UCL.
    Also, if coach really wants it, why not Draxler but Neymar as no.10?

    Many times Neymer played in that same role as #10 for the national team, in the same 4-2-3-1 system, and here in Brazil we see his biggest flaw in trasitions as being precisely what happens in 9:39 : the extra dribbling! See how after he turns around and clears his 1st opponent he has the easiest option to pass forward to Rabiot, but he chooses the more difficult - albeit more stylish - play that is to turn around again in between the 2 opponents to get into the free space. In Ligue 1 he gets away with it on account of the poor level, but in the world stage that poor decision making takes its toll.

    yeah he is good sure..but right now he is getting a fierce competition by Mbappe on his aim to become the best..a lot would say that Mbappe is just as deadly and talented as Neymar and more physical than Neymar..as a Number 10 i think that Neymar learned a lot from Messi and plays just like him at PSG, it is not Neymar's natural talent sure..his natural talent is his runs and skills and jinking dribbles from his time at Barca and Santos..but it brings the best out of PSG, with a star lineup of Di Maria, Cavani, Mbappe, Draxler and Neymar, all of whom want to play minutes and shine. Honestly i think Neymar would not get the ballon d or for the same reason as Messi, players with darting runs and fantastic skills (not Ronaldo), with lots of important goals (like Ronaldo) and mental and physical health (like Ronaldo) which i can see Mbappe becoming in the future, is more eye catching for the people (ahem idiots) at FIFA rather than the genius of players such as Messi, Modric, Iniesta, Xavi, Scholes, Busquets, Pirlo, KDB, D. Silva and now from this video, Neymar as well. Players like that who run the game and dictate everything and play the silent genius are overlooked by FIFA (idiots) officials, main reason why FIFA has lost the respect of football fans.

Mbappe is being compared to Messi and CR7 while they were young, sure he is not on the same level, no one can be to those two, but the fact is, Mbappe is shining brighter than Neymar (again not saying he is better, because i believe that is debatable and everyone has their own opinion) and he is still young, so watch out for the future. He is most certainly competition for Neymar as is Dybala and Asensio and Dembele, but since Neymar is older than these players, he is better right now, but in two, three or four years time? who knows, when Messi CR7 retire? they will be stiff competition for Neymar
