  • There's a reason The Dorchester (www.dorchestercollection.com/l...) is considered to be the best hotel in the world. It starts with the amazing people who work there, their commitment to guest satisfaction is unequaled. Then, it includes some of the most beautiful, most luxurious accommodations in London. Here is a tour of one of the hotel's iconic Dorchester Suites, where I had the great pleasure of staying for a week in January. With sweeping views over Green Park it was just a wonderful place to be. The hotel's location on Park Lane in Mayfair also puts you within a few minutes walk of Oxford Street shopping or Buckingham Palace for visiting.

A truly outstanding video Fred. At long last I see a hotel with some decent electronics. From the mirror screen, high-tech smart toilet, and the BeoVisions - they're all gorgeous. Personally, I'm a girl who prefer high-tech gadgets much more than antique stuffs & furniture, so this is really my favorite hotel room interior so far.

It should be clean ... its a five star hotel. Been there it really is special, art nouveau deco not cheap but luxury with character opposite park. But the staff make it ... they make effort to be professional but at the same time like being home .. many choose the modern Hilton nearby .. same price but Dorchester was a favourite with Holywood stars, theatre people, writers more arty feel .. and if you ask staff they have many bits of history about the hotel.

Who am I to judge religious law in another country? And sharia law in different forms is in many, many countries, including popular tourist places like in Bali in your country, the Phillipines and the Maldives. I think travelers should respect the laws, religion and customs of the place they visit, not try to impose their own ideas. If you don't agree with a country's religion or laws, don't visit there.

Two answers. First is some people are very rich and want to stay at a hotel that is as nice as their mansion. Second is that it can be cheaper to stay in a luxury hotel than to own a house and have maids, cooks, housekeepers, etc. If I was really rich, I might not want to own a house or houses, I just might want to stay in luxury hotels around the world and travel to different cities to stay for a while.

The country has a high standard of living, it's not a place where "most people in the country don't have even basic needs met." That's not correct. You seem to have a problem with Islamic law as many countries have Sharia law. It's not the Sultan's rules, it's Sharia / Islamic law and he chooses to follow it in his own country. 50 countries around the world follow Sharia law, it's not something unique to Brunei.
