All of the footage used in this video was captured on original hardware. I dot not use any emulation or HDMI upscaling etc to play these games. I think there is something truly nostalgic about playing the games on original consoles, with original controllers on television technology typical of the time. I currently play on a 25” Sony Trinitron that I acquired for a whole £20 from its original owner.
To capture the games I am using an external Elgato Game Capture card and composite cables, as well as a composite splitter on the TV so I do not need the Elgato HDMI output to play along.
If you are interested in my setup and want to know more then let me know in the comments, if I get enough interest I am happy to record a run down of the setup.

“The Typing of the Dead” sounds hilarious! Definitely want to see a playthrough of that at some point! 😂
I have thought about buying it on Steam and giving it a go.
Had it on Dreamcast and it is awesome! Crazily... my middle school typing teacher was a nightmare... but apparently she was very good at teaching me to type! Typing of the Dead is insanely easy for me. Never finished HotD2 on Dreamcast, but finished TotD on my first try. Played it over and over and it is genuinely a great game.
I had a look and you can get it on Steam for under £20. I may have to pick it up and do a follow on episode.
Glad I found your channel! Good stuff! Just subscribed.
Thanks for the sub! Much appreciated.
I recommend playing it with just the wii remote no zapper! Its much more fun. Loved the video!🎉
Thanks for watching and commenting. I will give it a go without the zapper.
Found your channel through the Consoles and Handhelds group. Great production values all around, and look forward to watching more!
Yeah, it was a bold aesthetic choice, and I’d like to say it was polarizing, but probably only among the hardcore set who played lots of the Sega of Japan entries. I bought a copy, enjoyed it, but only played through it once.
Thanks for commenting and interesting to hear where you came across the channel.
@@jaygrice Hey, you’re welcome, man! Great channel, wish there were more like it, but the trend seems to be top 10 lists and gameplay with no commentary. It can be okay, but for me, I either like good insights or good comedy.
When Nintendo Wii is considered retro
That’s the second time someone’s asked that. I’m doubting myself now! I think it’s old enough now that it’s retro though…. Isn’t it! Haha
Well there is a game callwd wet for 360 amd and PS3. Its a "max payne" clone but they game plays out like a schlocky grindhouse flick. Plus eliza dushku voices the main character.💯🇦🇱🤟🏻
I’ve heard of Wet, I think I may have played it briefly or a demo perhaps back in the day. I will keep and eye out and add it to my collection. Thanks!
i did have the wii version but never finished it, but last bought the Ps3 version. its great, but really needed a gun like the old G-con to make my firing more accurate. either way, fab game.
It’s a shame we have gone so many generations without light guns or modern equivelant.
@@jaygrice I agree, i had lightning quick reflexes back in my ps1 days owning one playing the point blank series . a lost art, one would say.
@keironhiggspoet I picked up point blank for the ps1 having never played it back in the day. Lot of fun!
@@jaygrice i reckon it would of faired well on the Wii, especially with the party mode it had
Certainly feels like a good fit for the types of games the Wii was known for. Things like Warioware etc.
Wii is considered "retro" now?
Haha. It is to me, although I wonder if there is an agreed definition of retro…
