Let’s not forget that the Suns won all 8 games in the bubble and still missed the postseason
I was rooting for them during the bubble
I wonder how they would’ve done in the playoffs that year. Especially in the first round against the lakers
Me & Pepperidge Farm remember. 💀☠️
Then they got cp3 and instantly went from missing the playoffs to being real title contenders. Then when cpe left, they back down the standings
They wasn’t gone do shit in playoffs anyways

Funny how Lebron played in 3 of the 5 play ins counting this year
Tbf in those 3 years the Lakers were 8th or 7th so even without the play-in they would be in the playoff
Yea but they were already A 7-8 so without it they would of made it maybe once they were a 9 seed

I kinda liked the way it was first introduced, where a play in would only apply if you were 4 games or less from the 7th or 8th seeds. It makes sense for a season like this season where all the teams in the west were just about tied from 7th to 10th seeds
Dame Dolla doing magic like always

"That's wack." 3-0 in the play in😂😂

Awesome video! I was wondering why the idea of the play-in tournament was started.
Casual
It made sense in the bubble, now I think it is indeed unfair to the 7th and the 8th. I would introduce a maximum gap (1or 2 matches?)... If the advantage is more, they secure the seed with no play-in
You been on a roll scripty!! This shit deep and getting deeper

Another day another banger by the GOAT
To qualify for a chance at the NBA championship, you should have to be able to win throughout the season. Enough of this "35 win team gets to make a run" garbage.
Takw it back to how it was before
Bron was consistent in his playin stance, he never switched up. He does not like it, the only reason he supported it during the bubble is because it was unfair that they did not get to play 82 games to naturally catch up, so a play-in tourney would alleviate this unfair aspect of the bubble.
His fLakers have been in every one of the play ins. Bet he dug those extra checks the last couple years, because his team wouldn’t have made the playoffs to collect those checks otherwise. FOH
@@cuseyeti_one8three yall hoes love to talk lol. Lakers would’ve made it every year without the play-in.. & even made it to the WCF losing to the eventual champs as the 7-8 seed. su bruh.
@@cuseyeti_one8three Your comment was really ignorant. The only teams that benefit from a playin are the 9 and 10 seed. The playin hurts the 7 and 8 seeds because they can potentially lose their spot. Lebron never finished at the 9 or 10 seed, yes he was in the playin, but he did not benefit from it. So far no team has, meaning no 9/10 seed kicked out a 7/8 seed team yet.

When it comes to the play in tournament, I feel like it is a good thing to have for the league however, I feel like there should be a rule to it for example like the first year they did it:
If the 7-8seed has like 1 game ahead they should compete for it but if the 8th seed has like 10 games on the 10th the 10th shouldn’t compete
Couldn’t miss the upload 🙏
I forgot who came up with this idea. from my previous read abou the Play in tournament some of them suggest that the commisioner should gave minimum win for the team to be eligible for the in tournament maybe 42-45 win to be eligible. Like gobert said if the 7th seed 45 win is losing from 10th seed with 38 win its kind of tough like their chance only decide by one game
Love cosgroves content ❤

going from one of the best teams in the east when being asked that question to going to one of the worst teams in the west and being asked that same question again, of course he changed his tune because he knew he had to stay relevant and making the postseason and keeping that finals appearances record intact is what was important
LeBron has not benefited from the Play-In. The Lakers have always finished within 7th or 8th (which would've made the playoffs prior to the play-in) except for the 2022 season.
They benefited in the pandemic .
@@kauffamn1016 No, they didn't, lol? Lakers won in 2020, in 2021 finished 7th and were eliminated by Phoenix in 6 (after big injuries). 2022 finished 11th, so they wouldn't have played in the play-in anyway so what are you referring to?

I was not a fan of the idea of the play in tournament when it was first announced. But the idea has really grown on me. I think it needs to be revised a bit. But it has given us some pretty good basketball.
It’s not good every team plays 82 games the teams that qualify should have a spot 1-8.
this video topic is fire
funny how LBJ the hypocrite was saying play ins are stupid and fire people for that idea as his so called greatness was play in every year since and he loves it.. lol what a crybaby
Lebron said whoever created this need to be fired
Hey Cosgrove, make a video why there are too many Jalen's in the nba today. What's up with the name and the many variations.
The original play-in was better. Only 2 teams and only is they are separated by less than 4 games. And actually, it SHOULD be only if they're separated by 1 game. Give that 9th team a chance to overtake the 8th
Agreed
Play in only teams that have 3-4 games away
the "lets give lebron more chances since he's too old" tournament
so far, there are 3 teams that have managed to sneak into the playoffs outside of the top 8:
2021 grizzlies (9th seed)
2022 pelicans and hawks (both 9th seed)
there's a real chance this year's kings will be the 4th...
A 9 seed shouldn’t have the chance to sneak into a playoff spot
I like the 8 vs 9 seed idea better
The way it's made now is perfect tbh
@@Eye_Of_RaRaI think the 7 and 8 should have a chance to both miss and thus the 9 and 10 should have a chance to both get in
Let's not forget this came about to keep 👑 relevant
Play-in started with the Trail Blazers vs Grizzlies
Lebron being Lebron.. always switching up
Lebron was so determined to sneak that title win what a guy😂
Bos vs den game 7 20024
The play in is wack. The Warriors finished the 8th seed in 2021 and the Lakers finished the 7th seed. Both should of made the playoffs and would of made it if it wasn't for the dumb play in. But the Lakers beat the Warriors and keep the 7th seed. Then the Warriors don't make the playoffs after they played 82 games in the regular season to get the 8th spot. Dumb.
IMO i dislike the play in, when you play you play for 8 seeds.. If you suck and cannot get to the 8th seed you are out... now maybe the 9th and 10th seed can play for a shot at taking on the 8th seed. but penalizing the teams in bottom top 8 to keep playing
Exactly. The only time this would benefit anybody is if there are teams tied for the 8th seed. Basically, they go MLB-style (before 2022 and excluding the 2020 season) where one-game playoffs occurred. Plain and simple, nothing complicated, win and you make the playoffs. Imagine how different NBA history would’ve possibly been if there were teams given that opportunity for the 8th seed that were in 9th place
I think it should be only the 8th 9th and 10th if they records close enough.
This year showed the flaw of the play in tournament. I like the play in tournament, it happens during that week when usually the season end and no games are played for a week. Its great to look forward to, talk about all the hypothetical matchups and such but i think this year it needs a change because both the bulls and Hawks both having losing records as well as not even a game or a tie breaker away from the 8th seeded Heat. I think the play in tournament should only happen in situations if The 9th & 10th seeds are a Game away or have tie breaker over the 8th seed. So for example, the Kings feel to the 9th seed but had beaten the 8th Lakers all season long. Then the play in turny should happen. But Wait Golden State and the Kings both have the same record. Well Have the kings & Golden State play. Winner of that then Plays the Lakers for the 8th seed. The play in tournament should be kind of a emergency thing if needed because when you have a big gap between The 9th to 8th seed. its not needed
I agree the play-in should be used as an emergency situation but the NBA needs to go to a format where it’s like the MLB, what they used to do before this current playoff format started in 2022. The MLB used to do one-game playoffs for tiebreakers so if two teams are tied for the 8th seed, they can do a play-in game for that, nothing more and winner takes that spot. If that team in 9th place is short, then they’re out of luck and don’t deserve a chance to make the playoffs because they didn’t have a good enough record. I mean it’s not that complicated and many seem to make things that way for no reason. Obviously if more teams are tied for the same record for the final playoff spots then more play-in games follow suit until the final spot(s) get determined whether it’s just for the 8th seed or if there’s a rare scenario where multiple playoff seedlings are tied with whoever is in 9th place, then of course more play-in games follow suit to account for it.
didn't watch the video but i'm certain the Nuggets-Wolves was the reason they started to create an idea of play-in tournament
It most certainly started the trend but then 2020 was what made it popular
Nothing is a coincidence 👁️🍻🍺 NBA be giving us clues all the time.
The best 8 teams in each conference should only be playing in the playoffs. If you make it you make it, if you don't oh well better luck next time
It's for $$$ It's a business. They don't want the Lakers and LeBron to miss the playoffs. No one would watch. We're talking about Los Angeles here....
It's unfair but welcome to the corrupt world.
@@mastersplinter5966You mean, they don't want the Warriors and Steph to miss the playoffs. Because the Lakers is 8th seed in the west and the Warriors is only 10th seed. So without the play-in the Lakers still gonna make the playoffs, and Warriors isn't.
The irony is Portland became the 8th seed BEFORE the play-in 😂
LeBron wouldn’t have said that if it wasn’t him being in that position
It sucks because jimmy got injured n now cant play against the Celtics
Playin should be played IF teams on spot 7-10 are actually tied but if not, it would be an unfair shit
looking for comments "lebron hated it but his lakers are always in the play in 3 of the past 4 years" duh. they were the 7th seed on 2 years and 8th seed this year. under the old rules they automatically qualify. now they won the 7th seed and have to face the defending champions as a reward.
They just want to say something negative about bron haters gonna hate my man
W vid
The play in tournament is a good concept especially for those standings that are very close from the 7-10th seeded teams. The play in tournament shouldn’t be applicable if the standings have a huge discrepancy to make it fair for those teams that worked hard in the earlier parts of the season.
The play in tournament shouldn’t be a thing since every team played 82 games.
They need to tone it back and go to what MLB used to do for one-game playoffs, basically as backup measures in case there’s teams tied for the same record, then there’s tiebreaker games. If that stuff was done for a sport with a 162 game season, then most certainly it can be done for one with an 82 game season. If no teams are tied, then no play-in is necessary because everybody did well enough to not put their seasons on the line like that.
How ironic LBJ said that play in is wack, but he and the L.A is always beneficiary of that idea
Change can be good
LeBron: “it’s whack”
Then the play-in proceeds to get LeBron into the Playoffs in 3 seasons since they implemented it 😂
He was always the 7th seed. Besides the year they didn’t make the play in. They would have made the playoffs anyway
he would make the playoffs anyway ..

lebalco hypocrisy is really something!!
How is that hypocrisy?
Funny how lebron said that that the play in tournament was wack and now he finds himself in the playin from 2021 2023 and 2024
Wrong. Every year the lakers made the playoffs they were a playoff team or just missed it out right. In 2020 they were the 1 seed and won the title. In 2021, they finished the year the 7th seed. They would of been in the playoffs without the play in tourney. In 2023(Last year), again they were the 7th seed. They were a playoff team again if the play in didn't exist. They got to the WCF. And this year they are the 8th seed. Again a playoff team if the play in didn't exist. These 3 years they've had to play an extra game to get into the playoffs, but if there was no play in, they wouldn't have to play an extra game. The Lakers haven't benefited from the play in. If they finished 9th or 10th, you can say they could of possibly benefited, however they never finished that low. In 2022 they finished 11th and didn't even make the play in. It has hurt Lebron rather than helped him so I'm sure he still think it's wack. But no one has asked him since 2021.
It’s because they want LeBron and Steph to still be in the playoffs, or else it wouldn’t be “entertaining”
but Lebron already made the playoffs without the playin
Lakers playing the Nuggets instead of the Thunder this year, thanks to LeBron’s beloved play-in system … 😄
Those play-in naysayers sounded dumb than and they surely sound dumber now. Great stuff as always.
Play-in only makes if there's a requirement to win 45 games. Cuz the Hawks only have 36 wins. Not a good team. But Trey Young is a star and the NBA needs its stars in the postseason, business as usual
Yeah that Bulls vs Hawks game is the pinnacle of Mid.
Its funny how LeBrons playoff position changes his stance on the play-in lol i like the play-in but they need to bring back that 5 game rule.. theres no way the hawks or bulls should have a chance to make the playoffs this year being more than 5 games back of the 8 seed, if either flukes out over philly and miami its bad for the game, neither team deserves that spot over the heat and 76ers
Why this shit so scary
😂😂😂😂😂play in tournament =publicity stunt
Bron should be thankful that there was a play-in cuz nah they wouldn’t make the playoffs last two seasons if i aint mistaking .

I’m still not sold on it. The nba is the only sport where over 50% of the teams already made the playoffs, and now in theory 66% of teams make it. Until the nba adds 3/4 teams in each conference, it’s bogus.
Well the 7-10th seeds still technically are not part of the playoffs. I see what you mean for sure but the actual 1st round doesn’t start until the 20th, and the play in goes from the 16th -19th so they really didn’t “make the playoffs”

Nah. Finished 8th seed this year. 7th seed last year. 7th seed in 2021. The Lakers would of made the playoffs without the play in. Lebron has never benefited from the play in since it's existed.
No LeBron legacy is wrapped around the play-in
It's being left out how the NBA also wanted Zion in the Bubble/Play-In and that was a huge factor too.
