All I need is a Maverick and I can use your technique to set those letters. I may not get mine until next year, but clear and concise video.
Cool. I suggest folding the blue onto itself before applying to the vinyl. Make a short pull tab. Doing this makes removing the tape easy and without having to pick at it.
I like these bacause you can adjust to a nice fit. With others, you may only get one shot and may end up with misaligned letters. Thanks, really enjoy all your videos.
Suggestions: Minimal (blue) tape to decal area suggested to avoid stretching when removing. It's just a handle. Also washing hands before helps, plus spraying fingers with soapy water as well. Worked for me.
An old body shop paint hack with tape... to keep it from sticking too firmly... lightly place the sticky side on your pant leg (to evenly pick up some lint)... the firmer you press the tape to your clothing the less sticky it will be... and (like others have suggested)... roll or fold the "pick off" edges to make it easier to get the removal started...

Great instructional video! When using the masking tape, I recommend sticking it to a smaller portion of the decal. This will make it easier to remove after applying the decal.

WATCHING YOU WORK GAVE ME AN IDEA : IF YOU HAD FOLDED THE FRONT EDGE OF THE MASKING TAPE OVER ITSELF, YOU'D HAVE A SMALL AREA THAT WASN'T STUCK ON THE LETTER ITSELF, AND IT WOULD HAVE MADE PEELING THE TAPE OFF THE LETTER A LITTLE EASIER TO START, NO?? Nice and instructive video with a couple good tips. The only pedantic observation is you used the wrong term when describing the letters in the sheet metal. Embossed means raised. Recessed letters like these are called debossed.
If only we could eliminate humans and their frailties from the equation.
where did ya buy lettering kit ? what color is your truck
Color is "Area 51". You can find lots of kits online using Ebay, Amazon or other sites.
Plastic tweezers are your friend.
How long should it last?
The material specs say Oracal 951 which is a 7-9 year vinyl.
